Hina ;_;
Poor girl. I just want to give her a hug.

Adapting chapter 52+, it shows more of her past as we learn about her character better along with a girl named Chiho. Rei's narrative really captured the feel of her past. Hina is such a kind girl imo. Bullying is a recurring social issue in this franchise so I'm not surprised that they are exploring it again this season.

And it was bullying after all...Hina wasn't the main target at first; but since she tried to protect her classmate she got involved. Hina is a really good girl and bullies ofc go for those; especially when all the other supposed "classmates" just ignore them if they get bullied.

It's good that Rei was there for her, like she was there for him. Not to mention her family; her grampa is great.
Now it's time to go kick some bullies' arses.

To say this episode was powerful is an understatement, amazing episode. I thought I was prepared but boy was I not.

What Hina did for her classmate Chiho is admirable and takes real courage, I have real respect for the girl. Even though she was scared that she'd become the next target she still chose to do her best to save her friend. That's real courage.

While those bullies need to be put in the place, the teacher is an even greater monster.

I was honestly teary eyed the entire episode, however watching Hina cry and yet declare that what she did was not wrong was very moving to me on a personal level. She deserves the highest amount of praise possible.

I like how Rei comments on the fact that sometimes the most random of things can save people, that's is more often that not a very true statement.
The lady bird naming origins was also really emotional, Hina returning home to a smiling Akari and Momo was very heartwarming. :)

Grandpa at the end was awesome, he kinda did what Hayashida did to Rei last season in telling Hina that what she did was amazing and that he's proud of him, kinda of a reference to what was said earlier in the episode. The randomest of things can save people. The entire final scene was very heartwarming and uplifting. Made me smile. <3

I hope Rei can figure out a way to help.
The soundtrack was amazing this episode as well.

Phenomenal episode packed with so many tears! It's been a while since one of the sisters were heavily featured in an episode and it delivered.

Poor Chiho and Hina. They don't deserve this at all but I'm super happy that Hina did the right thing. I was super stoked to see Hina physically retaliate when everything boiled over. She's such a kind and sweet soul so I feel awful for her. Hopefully the bullying will calm down in the future and I hope Hina stays strong.

What made me even more happy is to see a more angry Rei. Although it was brief, the fact that he was thinking about ripping limbs off of middle school girls was awesome.

Thankfully Rei and the Kawamoto family made Hina feel better at the end. It was nice of the reclusive Rei to reach out to Hina and spend the day with her. Grandpa praising and showing how proud he is to Hina. Then Akari making all of Hina's favorite foods for dinner and Momo running up to Hina to comfort her.

Excellent episode! 6/5 from me and I'm so proud of Hinata!

Really weird episode in structure, with all the shifts in narration and animation.

It definitely looked like something hard to adapt, and yet it was good.

This episode is not 100% politically correct as Hina counter violence with her violence act and it's not sure if grandpa encourage which part of her act that stand for her friend that she did 'nothing wrong'. Anyway it's successfully bring bullying issue which is a very hot topic in Japan and probably on worldwide level, and to think that this is anime about shogi that done this. Now we can only hope that Rei will think of the 'realistic' solution and not deus ex machina that magically heal Hina's problem

What a heartbreaking episode. (;_;") Best one of this season so far! Poor Hina-chan... But it's admirable that she was so brave. (Yeah, it wasn't really right to attack the other girl, but I could totally understand her.)

Well there goes all my feels for the next month. A seriously powerful episode that was equally hard to watch. I couldn't stop tearing up throughout the whole episode, especially whenever Hina (and Momo) cried. I liked Grandpa's words of encouragement at the end, and I hope Hina gets through this (with Rei's help though, I think she's in good hands). No one should be victimized simply for doing what any decent person would do.

This episode also reminded me of why I hate the "shame society" that Japan embodies. Bullied kids don't want to speak up because they're afraid of being shamed and ostracized, so they hold it in, the bullies aren't held accountable for their actions, and it continues in this vicious, and sometimes deadly, cycle. It's equally disgusting that fellow classmates, and even the damn teachers of all people, willingly turn a blind eye to avoid getting involved. If even the teachers are that negligent, it's no wonder why bullied kids don't bother going to them for support, and even after a bullied kid tells them what's going on, they offer little to no help with their shitty responses.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Life is rarely 100% politically correct she lashed out in anger and grief and her grandpa coming from a different era obviously would view things from a different lens

I was crying just with the few first minutes of the episode, I'm such a crybaby ;_; That poor girl, Chiho, deserved better. This episode broke my heart in any sense, just to fix it at the end when grandpa Kawamoto congratulates Hina for his bravery, supporting her in her suffering.

I have grown a huge respect for Hina with this. I liked her before, but after seeing how she, unlike her (useless) teacher and classmates, stood up for her friend, and how she was crying, not for what happened to her, but because Chiho had to move to another school due the bullying she was suffering and she couldn't do nothing at the end, she has gain my total respect.

Is noticeable too how the cats, who are normally depicted as talking animals in the more comedic scenes, were shown here as mute, normal cats, indicating how serious this was.

The visuals when Rei felt like if Hina's suffering was affecting him too had some pretty awesome visuals. I love how many details Shaft is putting to this project.
Regarding this, I loved too how Rei was so decided to help Hina through the whole episode. The boy who is usually meek and doesn't do nothing when people do bad things to him, wants now to help the people he loves without second thoughts. He may not care about himself, but he will not hesitate to support his saviours in their darkest hours.
I wonder how he is going to solve things, since I don't think the problem will be solved that easily, and Rei acknowledged it wasn't going to be as easy as beating the little shits who made Hina and Chiho suffer.

I was already hyped for this, but now, I want even more to know how this will end.

That's a new record for the appearance of ninja cutting onion.. Less than one minute into this episode, just wow.

Great episode, really relatable particularly to the people that's been bullied in school (like myself, years ago) by other that claims to just do some 'harmless prank'.. Bullying is considered an awful thing to do, not because the grade of what it actually does, but because the impact it leaves on people's psychology and heart. And we are human cause we indeed do something not just out of logic, but because our heart tells to. Underline is, i DESPISED bullying in all forms, and Hina is such a great girl for stood up to it. It hurts me so much to see the bully goes unpunished and other kids just do what the bully intend to...

Thou it was kinda obvious what was going on from last episode, i cried, i cried so hard, hadn't cried so hard to an anime since S2 of Shouwa Rakugo.

This episode had too many feelings, too many lessons, so much sadness but at the same time so much of that heartwarming feeling.

I loved how determined is Rei to help Hina, even thou he has been shy and very insecure of himself most of the time, he wanted to do something for her, to help her, to overcome even his own limitations to help the one he holds dear.

The Grandpa, oh the Grandpa. That was such a fine speech, held too many truths, i'm glad he got to tell her she did the right thing, and even if she's suffering for it right now, in the long run is her who is ultimately right. It's easy, it's comfortable to be a coward or to not act, but she did what her heart told her to do and it was right.

I felt so moved through out this entire episode, Momo crying feeling for her sister, Akaki trying to cheer her up through food, Rei looking out for her...i'm moved, i'm sad but i'm also happy.

Loved it. My poor heart...

This show just gets it. It get emotions, it gets bullying, it gets people, and it gets life. I haven't gotten this emotional over an anime for a long time, but god damn I started crying the moment Chiho and Hina hugged after the transfer and did not stop crying for the rest of the episode. All of the reactions to bullying from Hina, the other classmates, and the teachers are things I've experienced almost identically, and while I can't relate to the specific actions the asshole classmates did to the girls the show conveys their feelings believably and viscerally with intense colors and the outstanding soundtrack.

But it's not all bad. Rei was bullied under the plant for a "heavenly path bug" and like the ladybug he and Hina can only get better and move forward from there. They have each other, and they have the warm and loving Kawamoto household, with the color contrast between the house and nighttime tones perfectly conveying this warmth from the often unfairly cruel outside. That meal was simply cathartic, a brilliant payoff to an intense episode. So god damn every episode makes me love this show more and more, and it was already close to that top 10 even after season 1. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

This episode was painful to watch but in a good way, because I can actually relate to Hina and the other girl. This is more on a personal level but I'm pretty much happy that the way its handled was pretty nicely done.

Of course having a friend that was a victim of bullying, and trying to step up against the bully isn't very easy, because you will get involved in the situation (consequences of trying to protect someone you care about). And the way this was done was rather well executed imo.

It's pretty amazing of an episode, probably my favorite of the bunch so far.

An emotional and sentimental episode this week, with the issue of Hina's bullying handled both tactfully and realistically; it's great to see that Hina has such a strong family support network (and also Rei) to comfort her in this situation, and all in their owns ways. I was especially impressed with Grandpa Kawamoto's sppech to Hina about how she was completely in the right and should have no regrets about what she did to help her friend, even if it's turned the bullies onto her instead.

Brilliant episode, and I'm interested to see what Rei decides to do about it next week.

This was one of the most beautifull episode i1ve seen in an anime. The realism of the bullying, the loniless and isolation of the victim, the negligence of the teachers, the fear among other students, this was so raw and heavy. Also Hina crying and realizing that she did nothing wrong, hiting Rei like a bolt that all he had suffered wasn't his guilty was simply outstanding. As Hina saves Rei, he now wants to save her, and isalready saving for being such a great friend. My eyes are teary till now, this episode was... unspeakable. This season is being perfect till now and I hope truly from the bottom of my heart that stays this way... Such a powerfull, human, catartic and unfortunately underated anime is Sangatsu.

Fantastic & heartbreaking episode. Best one so far.
Hina & Momo crying brought a few tears to my eyes.

Those bullies are terrible, but the teacher is just as bad for not doing anything.

Rei being there for Hina was great. He has changed so much.
Awesome that Hina stood up for what she believed in.

Love how the Kawamoto Family is there for one another.

Hmm wonder what Rei is going to do about those bullies?

Just a few seconds in and I had already teary eyes and it stayed like this until the very end. Tho I gotta say that grandpas words turned my wet eyes into a river and I pretty much looked liked Hina. Bullying is indeed a very nasty thing :S Hina did great.

Like everyone else I can just say that this episode was so unbelieveable powerful in a negative dark way as well as in a positive bright one.

The last minutes with everyone on the dining table overwhelmed me with cheerfulness. This episode will be hard to top tbh,but I'm looking forward to more.

This was painful to watch (not the Hand Shakers kind of painful lol). Goes to show how it's actually hard to not be a terrible person as being terrible is justified by playing the victim card. Full props to Hina.

Holy shit this episode...may have been the best of the series. Rei is still being developed as a character as well along with the Sisters and it's fucking brilliant.

"I want to find them, and rip them limb from limb." HOLY SHIT REI!!!! I freaking loved that part. I kinda wished he realized him just being there would be a huge help for Hina.

I liked the whole bit about the ladybug flying towards the sun as well.

Next weeks episode should be interesting. Mainly because Rei says "Well I'm a guy..." Then what sounds like Hina saying "I' a terrible person." (or something seductive along those lines lol)

Damn, Hina is a real friend. She and her friend didnt deserve to get bullied. Was pretty sad Chiho ended up moving away. I hope those girls that bullied them get a taste of their own medicine. I also really liked the scene where Rei goes after Hina. Just a very beautiful and fluid looking scene.

Very great episode overall and I look forward to the next episode.
