| 'Chi no Wadachi' reminds me of Hitchcock's Psycho. Mother and son's relationship, although i never watched anyting about prequel storyline of 'Psycho' but i think it was something similar to this story right there. From this chapter i loved when boy's face teared apart and found himself anew. (At least that is what i think.) |

| Well that was to be expected, but also unexpected. Since the beginning, there's been that undertone of incestuous love from mother to son. He kinda loses it mentally and then hugs his mom. He ends up laying on top of her crying, pleading with her not to ever leave him. She agrees and tells him to always listen to her and do as she says. They start by ripping up the letter together and then she gives him a kiss on the lips, as if to symbolize that she's now consumed him emotionally. |

| Damn, that was truly a specific chapter in how bizarre it was. Surely it was a mix of various things: psychological manipulation, mental breakdown, Oedipus complex, toxic mother-son relationship... but on the other hand, they felt to appear suddenly, even though before there were few vague hints that sooner or later one of said elements might happen and have the whole chapter dedicated solely to it. But to see them all in just one chapter, all combined in just one scene? That was unexpected. |

| When he gets a love letter to be his girlfriend from his crush, his mother finds out, cries, and pleads him that she won't accept it. So, she's so "protective" or whatever that she doesn't want to let him go be dependent to anyone else or something. Then they rip it together. And she kisses him. WTF. I doubt it's incest, but what does she mean exactly. Fucked up. |
