Can someone watch Owarimonogatari's first season and this one without ever having watched any of the rest of the series and still enjoy it?

I'm sure it would be better to have watched the entire series, but I don't think I want that kind of time commitment.

Then whay do you even consider watching this if you don't care about rest of the series.

You can do that, but then you won't understand anything.

No, no you can't. This is the most recent addition to the series, and you must watch it in order. Diving into this headfirst will first of all spoil everything for you, and you won't understand a thing of what's going on (the series is hard to keep up with even when watching in order). I, for one, can assure you it'll be worth your time. Love it or hate it, it'll be a unique experience, to say the least. Try watching the first fifteen episodes and decide if you're going to continue from there.

Refer to the subreddit for watch order.

It's not that I don't care about the rest of the series. It's that I don't think I want to invest all the time into the series, to watch the most highly rated season if it's not entirely necessary. If it is necessary, I'll have to weigh the time investment vs. other things I want to watch.

If I won't understand anything. That's fair enough.

There is no reason, or even any way, to watch Owari S1 and S2 without already having watched the rest of the series at least once.

MAL's ratings are bullshit, and as much as I love me the Monogatari franchise, it's only highly rated because A) The Gintama effect, where the only people still with the series this far into it are people who enjoy the show, and B) People doing their dead level best to give it the highest rating possible, just like with Gintama, Your Name, and FMA:B.

If you don't have the time or commitment to watch the entire series, then it's better off to just start at the beginning of the series rather than at the end so that you can continue the story if you plan on picking it up again...

No, you really can't. If anything this season makes it so you HAVE to see everything before it, when people may have said otherwise before since it can sometimes seem like it isn't going anywhere. This is the end of the overarching plot of the series and you won't understand anything. In fact, it will probably put a bad taste in your mouth and ruin the series for you.

Don’t bother watching if you’re starting at Owari 1 or 2.

You can’t really say it’s the greatest anime ever if you start at those seasons either. It’s around 90+ episodes and 3 movies all together, so yeah, it’s one hell of an investment, but a good one IMO, I was pretty skeptical about starting it at first due to my busy schedule, but I gave in and watched about 2-3 episodes a day, and this turned into one of my favorite series of all time.

There are plenty of 1-2 four anime you can easily finish in a week, but the Monogatari Series is a wild ride, and it’s defnitely worth watching.

But that’s just me.

If you are going to ask a stupid question, are you expecting a stupid answer? :0

Well (giving an intelligent answer), I'd say Bake and the rest of the Monogatari series are pretty equal in writing quality. So obviously if you dislike Bake, you'll dislike everything else, but even that doesn't encompass why you would dislike it if you just skipped to Owari. I think a select few of my fellow comrades left reasonable responses above, so I'll leave it at that. It's not that I am not willing to convince you that the Monogatari series as a whole is worth more than your time and mine respectively, it's just that there's no reason to ask the question, when the answer can be summed up in one sentence: "Owarimonogatari is the End Story, so there has to be a start." Book closed.
