TMS Entertainment announced at its booth at Japan Expo on Thursday that a fifth Lupin III series is in production. The new series will take place in France—titular character Arsène Lupin's home.

The previous installments of the Lupin III series are based on the manga by Monkey Punch. The series has received various anime adaptations since it was published in 1967. Produced by TMS Entertainment and Telecom Animation Film, the most recent anime adaptation, Lupin III: Part IV is the first TV anime since Lupin III: Part III ended in 1984. Lupin III: Part IV was first broadcast on August 29 via Italian television channel Italia 1, before premiering in Japan on October 1. The TV series ran for 24 episodes and took place in Italy and San Marino, featuring Lupin in a blue coat.

Why didn't they announce it at Japan Expo, instead?!
Between the setting and its popularity here, therewere enough reasons.

edit: wait, it strongly looks like it was shown at the J-E 18th Impact.

edit: nobody seems interested about this news here...

This news tops any announcement from Anime Expo, especially after the masterpiece that is Part IV. I'm incredibly excited!

EDIT: If they're making more after this one I would love to see Part VI take place in the Benelux.

This is great news! I wonder what it will be like; it seems close to the Italian show, but it could also be something different.

Anyway, Lupin back in the land of his illustrious grandfather is awesome. I'm glad they put him in France.

Blue Jacket was amazing and I am extremely excited about a new season. Maybe this means more seasons are planned for more countries/regions in the world, too... Would love to see Lupin touring the entire world.

PS: Continuity with the 2015 LUpin would be quite nice as well. I liked both Nix and Rebecca as additions to the cast.

Every title related to Lupin I've seen till now has been fantastic so I don't doubt that I will enjoy this one too.
I'm also glad it's in Europe again because it's such an underused setting and seeing European architecture in anime has always been a very nice detail for me.

A Franchise that never dies but at least it's a good thing.

Is it ok to watch this without watching the previous season?
I heard it's Plotless episodic series.
Do you play Azure Lane?

Yeah, pretty much you can start anywhere.

@Sazanami-Kai It's still interesting to watch the early episodes of the first show (before it focused on "adventures"). You would even get to watch the group meet a future regular character for the first time.

I don't know about the anime fandom in general, but I personally just recently got into the Lupin franchise and have been having a blast watching it. I love the characters (especially Jigen) and how the series shifts in tone and style throughout its various incarnations. So I can't wait for part five and what it'll bring to the table.
