Hmm, thought this episode was decent. We got Yashirou following Benten to see what she's been up to.

He's also aware of an important meeting that involves the Friday Club.
Gotta love the modern fantasy in this show especially the inhuman characters at the restaurant.

Any episode with Kaisei is a good for me. On a serious note though, I didn't think he'd be that depraved... Soun really is a piece of garbage. It's one thing to feel being eaten by human's as natural, its another matter all together to betray your brother and get him eaten, but now he's just sunk into an undescribable low. That he would now resort to canibalism. I'd like to see his sons defend this action. Or any of his family for that matter.

Industrial revolution showcase.

Also Kaisei hype! We need more of her interactions with Yasaburou.

Benten training for fighting Nidaime again.

Soun has descended so far into resentment and bitterness, that while I can see it, at the same time it makes me think that someone else is messing with his mind. That would be Jyuryoji of course.

Oh: and now we know why Tenyama was cast into hell, his stalking of Beneten - so another person who blames other's for his own problems.

Only Yasaburo, as Benten pointed out, could have a good time in hell. And only with Benten can he see everything he has ever wanted to see in the world. That is why they make a good couple.

Great episode, Yasaburo learning how to transform into an oni at the beginning paid off - and we get to see a climax next episode. Looking forward to it!

Such a strange episode, in a very interesting and good way obviously. I loved it a lot. Hell was certainly something else.

Also, seems like Soun is back. The bastard sure sunk so low - joining the Friday Club and eat his own kind.

Looking forward to the next episode!

Wow. Yasaburo's venture into hell seemed very random but it was interesting as hell (pun intended).

Wow, that was a pretty amazing journey.
Great episode as usual, really liked how the red highlights were used to get Hell an eerie atmosphere.

Has Soun prepared a caged tanuki to enter the Friday Fellows? Maybe not, because it's not the end of the year yet. So what does he give them, then?

The oni horn must be for something particular. Possibly a magical ingredient/talisman/weapon. I'm thinking either it has to do with Nidaime, or Soun's entrance into the club.

What's with Tenmaya and fat suits?

I kinda wish they'd shown the Buddha spider thread.

Kaisei following Yasaburo around makes it seem like she's more interested in him romantically than she's ever let on about. Her jealousy regarding how he keeps following Benten like a puppy is quite cute if you ask me.

I wonder how she'll react when Yasaburo tells her about her father's whereabouts, and his plans for consuming tanuki like a human.....

The Oni portion was quite interesting. It seems to present the painting as a portal to the underworld as a fact, and I'm assuming that it and the bald guy in the red shirt will be crucial to the development of the rest of this story, eh?

Soun makes his un-triumphant return and boy do I want to see him get a good beat down already. >_<

Still, Yasaburo's conversations with Kaisei was amusing though. She does sound a little jealous about Yasaburo following Benten around I have to say. =)

The Oni portion of the episode was unique and interesting. Benten was happy to play around and beat all the male Oni's in the sumo ring, probably to relieve stress or to prep herself for another encounter with Nidaime in the future, who knows.

The story is already getting more interesting as we hit the halfway point. Now that Soun has joined the Friday Fellows Club to eat his OWN kind, I think it'll get even better in the second half. =D

Really makes you want to see Soun as tanuki hot pot for the Friday club That was a hell of a trip finding out that Tenneya ran a ramen shop in hell and Benten wrestles with onis

Goodness, the story in hell totally reversed the first part of the show. Revolution of hell? Even hell is under constant improvement at how they torture human souls. They don't boil Oni together with dead souls anymore but using the steam machine to torture them. Guess why the Onis are obese like that....
That hole of torture machine, Burning Hell, Uninterrupted Hell, gosh, all of them sounds so harsh. Lucky Yosaburo to meet Benten so soon after that. I wonder how Tenmaya managed to live and escape that Hell...

The "industrial revolution" is a hell on earth; Or at least it's so for somebody. In some ways, this episode has spared me, I did not think I could see one in this series. The tone is so dark and serious, to be clearly detached from the episodes seen so far or almost. Still there in Hell, Yasaburo was about to fall in love with a girl, but that's good! XD

No-one's gonna comment on the fact we might have just met Benten's brother?

They share the same surname (Suzuki) and have the exact same eyes as well as similar hair. I feel like it'd be too much of a coincidence. Or have we already met him in season 1 and I've just forgotten? ; u ;

God dang, Soun has fallen so far. He fell, then he tripped, and then he fell and somehow created a hole in the ground to get even lower. Any further and he would have passed hell. Wonder how his family would handle something like this.

I really liked this episode. Another worthwhile entry to a great second series. The Kaisei banter in the first half was top notch. In some ways I prefer Benten and Yasaburo together. But Yasaburo and Kaisei are pretty cute too. I just like how they're both so tsun with each other in the best way. And how Yasaburo respects her boundaries when she makes them known. Little shit like that gets me.

At first I was kind of disappointed when Suou showed up again. It seemed a pretty predictable and comically evil move. Though him becoming a tanuki cannibal is pretty damn twisted. But all the stuff in hell with the Onis at the end was some of the coolest stuff we've seen so far this season. I almost would have liked to have seen Tenmaya. He's been gone for awhile and we did get a little peek into his past when Yasaburo finds his old ramen cart. But I love that this series is further expanding its already impressive world.

The ending was pretty next level too. I felt a decent bit of tension when Yasaburo started to get caught up with that one Oni. Dreading the inevitable reveal of his true identity and ensuing consequences, But the ending was some effortless and beautifully animated fun. I love when Bentens all playful and nice. Kind of curious if it ended the way it did because of time or for a cliffhanger of some sorts though.

the episode was so fucking great that i rewatched it. :P Really like Kaisei in this episode *Ninja-style* and once again her and Yasaburou relationship. "Don't make fun of my brothers" -sugar jar flips-
Glad that we are seeing such plot progression. Thursday club guys vs Friday club guys and how Benten took her loss (training really hard by beating bunch of onis) AND absolutely loved how she beat the hell out of Yasaburou and then tossed him into the air and then they both left and how Yasaburou was waving to that Oni later. Amazing. My favorite anime ever.

Kaisei is the master of sneaking, I mean Yasaburou didn't even notice her like 4x
That uncle sucks, I don't want an uncle like him :(
Seriously though that Oni Yasaburou's eyes, too cute xD

Benten saved Yasaburou once again I guess
I don't even know whether she's a bad girl or good girl.. Probably she's just doing whatever she want to do

WTF? The heck is this mess? Say goodbye to proper characterization of the first season and throw-in as many weird moments as it gets I guess?

Dunno, everything just feels too random to me. There are way too many characters that just comes and goes and all the intrigue background is but a big mess. Can't really say I find this anything close to enjoyable, I would be a lot more happy with more down-to-earth tanuki problems.

Kaisei dialogue was about the only part of this episode that was actually interesting.

-ILLEGALIZE
-TANUKI
-wtf is that bathwater
-kaisei is adorable ❤
-even moreso with that shade on benten
-flashbacks to 7 minutes ago
-oh hey it's crazy uncle
-wait so is tenmaya an oni
-alright this painted world is turning out to be pretty interesting actually, and there seems to be a very low chance that benten (puke) won't make an appearance in it so that's always good
-god
-damn
-it
-although that last bit was pretty swanky, especially with the music

So basically nothing notable happened in this episode until Yasaburo got trapped in the painted world, and Benten ended it way too soon being the cock-blocking party-pooping asshole she is. Although, Kaisei is one of those characters that instantly brightens up the scene whenever she appears, so that was pretty nice.
