At this point they really should know better, Genma has never invented a useful technique.

yet another masterpiece. When i first read the title, i was already aware this was going to be epic.

Genma never fails to be the """""all time best father"""" with the old photo finger trap, cheating on shogis, those sleepless nights fearing for sudden attacks by Ranma, talking to a microphone as a panda and insisting at use cardboards to avoid a serious conversation, but after all of this he drops the bomb.

"From now on we're no more father and son!"

And every time i jokingly act all shocked thinking... HOW? How could he tell something this horrible to his own son? What kind of sick mind did bring him to have such words coming from his mouth? And it gets even worse, he doubled down by taunting Ranma and calling him again "nobody's son"... shocking. "Nobody's son"?????????????? And obviously Ranma, being the usual himself, immediately sinks down to his level, answering "better nobody's son than your own!" all of this while Soun correctly comments that they're both wrong in telling each other so much harsh words and her daughter adding a very justified "i don't know who is the most stupid between these two!"

When Ranma is training alone, it was a little too weird to discover that Genma just did a actual good thing with giving him a blanket when he was sleeping, and in fact... he also ate all of his food. And returned with that stupid mask disguise forgetting (or not caring?) that with just a little cold water he becomes a panda as expected.

And when the ... "final?" fight finally comes, it's cool to see how Soun is all dressed up and Ranma is cornered for three hours because he underestimated his father because of his usual self-righteous self.
Obviously nothing actually changed, but Akane and Genma's final comments are perfect. Perfect.

A father and son bonding episode. But since this is Ranma 1/2, it's negative bonding instead of a positive one.

Genma was bound to become weaker. Ever since he started living in the Tendo household he became very lazy. It doesn't help that Ranma's also pretty strong for his age.

The art actually became nice to look at, but the latter episodes aren't as good *sigh*

Not a bad Genma focused episode, tho I have to admit he was quite frustrating, at any point you think he’s taking things seriously, he slaps you in the face with his ridiculousness again. I really think there’s something interesting there with Genma and Ranma’s relationship as father and son and Genma’s reactions to Ranma surpassing him and not needing him anymore (forget all the times Ranma has schooled Genma lol) but they sadly don’t want to tell a great story for these two, just a pretty good one with loads of silliness sprinkled in.

The final moments of the episode were actually pretty cool too with Genma having grown facial hair and having a new “move” that scared Ranma for a whole three hours, but even that ended up being something dumb, you’d think I’d be used to this by now 140+ episodes in but it’s just become slightly disappointing at this point lol. I guess you could say Genma won in the end tho, and that’s something for him at least.

Ranma and his dad fighting, again. Really Genma do everything to annoy Ranma. I was falling asleep during the second half.
