Ah the story of Heizou...

I got some laughs from the first half of this episode until the rest of it had a more somber tone. Such rough days for people in this age.

Love seeing more of Heziou's past. He was surprised to see Master Matsuoka as the robber. Matsuoka is a strong swordsman. Heziou took some life lessons from him and is passing them on to his son.

That was a really good episode.

Very nice insight on Heizou with this backstory, Matsuoka may have been a thief but his words are what shaped Heizou into who he is. I really liked how at the end there, he refused to make Heizou an accomplice of the theft and made him remember those words again.

Couldn't help but smile when Heizou advised his son with the same words. :)

I had similar experience but in my case it was regarding my xams in school time..and the advice was from the most notorious guy in my dormitory...

hehe..This is first time I felt my experience so close to some anime I am watching...

I love these kinds of episodes where we get to see what or who influenced great characters like Heizou to become who they are in the present

Ah, another Heizou story from the past. These are always good, and this one was no different.

Ah... the reverse blade technique I really like that technique. It took a thief to change Hasegawa into a respected man in society, maybe that is why he is so fond of bandit with morals.

Only a couple of comment, 8 to be precisely... this show needs more love!

Remember that in the first episode, Heizo said to Kumehachi that he don't know his mom?
Now we know why he said that with his backstory in this episode.. and Matsuoka's words with the tears .. it just a few words, but that make Onihei who he is now..

If someone missed the time information in last episode, I'm sure he would be shocked by Heizô's son.

4/5 I wonder if the last story featured will show the end of the character (or at least his last moments occupying his position). I didn't find anything about the ending point of the TV drama or books (only that the show lasted so long that the actor was later replaced with the one who used to play the son)

What about "silent love"? We might not have something to write each week.

Well, You and others are here from day one, I'm talking about other viewers... but that can’t happen because the show have lesser viewers than others anime in this season (underrated) thus my comment aimed at people who may read this but aren’t watching the show to give it a try...

Onihei is an underrated anime and surprisingly one of my top few anticipated show for this season.

I don't think we got any new information on that? We learn that Heizo's mom is his father's peasant side chick, but Heizo only said he doesn't know her face.

Yeah. His soft spot for thiefs and bandits makes sense now. Neat how they fleshed that out.

Good moral story that was learned by Heizo, Matsuoka might have not said any beautiful words, but one thing that Heizo learned is to not be like him since they share a similar story, i feel like this lesson where he saw Matsuoka as a thief taught him and put him in a right direction, he is not a thief because of him.
All in all a good backstory episode. Who would've known that our MC was an impulsive somewhat reckless guy basically any shonen MC lul and he turned into such a wise, morally inducing person. Really impressive. Didn't know he had such a difficult family situation, i wonder what happened next... That mother is such a bitch tbh.

This episode, fails to amaze me, thanks to his beautiful life lesson. The narrative explores in an interesting way on one aspect that I did not believe we were told, I'm curious to know more Onihei. From young we are all more or less dissolute, but are the lessons to make us grow and if you are lucky, receive the right advice that we do not take the wrong path in life.

Cool we get some backstory for Heizou.. he had a hard upbringing but that seems to have brought out the best in him!

Nice backstory. Gave us a good amount of insight on what turned Tetsaburou into Onihei. Executed very well.

Hasegawa was a pretty wild one when he was young

Matsuoka was a pretty good rolemodel for Hasegawa despite being a thief
