I don't know about you guys, but I'm pumped! Ever since Madoka, I feel like the magical girl genre has expanded into more areas that are more appealing to people that aren't the biggest fans of regular magical girl shows like myself (I do plan to watch Heartcatch Precure since ppl say it's pretty good). I mean there's shows been shows like Nanoha and others that have been a bit different and darker, but Madoka kind of set the precedent (probably because of its popularity) of a new breed and now we got shows like currently airing Magipro and Flip Flappers.

When I first saw Yuki Yuna, I was extremely impressed (except for parts of the ending, but that's a topic for another day) and I was hoping and praying this would get continued and not only are we getting a continuation but they are also adapting the prequel story. Man, couldn't be more excited!

I wonder what other dark secrets and truths we'll learn about, very much looking forward to seeing it all.

I personally feel like the story wrapped itself up and shouldn't require any further development. The girls saved everyone and faced their own personal demons. I'm not even sure where you could go from here, unless you make it a 6-part space adventure OVA series.

"You've faced many life-and-death situations. But that does not make you an adult. Finding more fallen-out hairs on your pillow, watching your favorite stuffed-bread disappear from the convenience store... the accumulation of those little despairs is what makes a person an adult."-Nanami Kento

"When a piece of media is bad, it's much easier to nitpick the less significant things because they're seen as a part of the problem. Alternatively, it becomes more difficult to nitpick something like a masterpiece because even the flaws are seen as contributing to the overall quality of the media." -Paraphrasing Mauler

The light novel prequel that will be turned into anime (the other 6 episodes of the S2) will really expand the universe of the series.

For some context, the story about Tougou before the anime was actually released months before the anime, and it shows a lot of the world of the series, really opening up a lot of questions and giving the momentum that S2 will need.

I really hated the ending of the first season so I have some hope that perhaps this will give a different light to the story, but probably not lol

The ending of season 1 ultimately did not solve anything in regards to the world they live in. The world is still fire and the vertex will eventually return to attack again after recouping their loses. When that time comes how will humans fight back? The current hero system was flawed and it almost caused the end because of it. How will humanity reclaim the world from the gods? There is still a lot that can be done.

One of Yuyuyu's biggest strengths and weakness relies on consuming all the side stores that come along with it because a vast portion of details and background information are presented there. It may sound bothersome, but it's the fate of a multimedia project such as this.

As someone that reads those stories let me tell you the world of this franchise is a lot more complex and there is A LOT of that can be done with the characters next season (specially Yuuna).
The main problem is that only the anime has become available to people in the west so the majority of people are probably not even aware that so much side material exists.

The adaptation of the Washio Sumi arc coming later this year is a story that was being published monthly on dengeki and completed by the time the 1st season of the anime was around it's 7th-8th episode. Trust me when I say that having read them as they were released completely made watching season 1 a different experience.

Even now there is a prequel story being published right now which has detailed how everything began, how humanity was nearly wiped out, and how the first group of heroes 300 years ago had to deal with it. The story might be a prequel but it has brought forth some great implications as to what might happen in the future of the series. It's very exciting and I can't wait to see how everything connects once season 2 airs.

I didn't mind the ending because it was obvious they were going for a sequel and since they are making one, the ending is understandable. Though, it would have been quite bad otherwise since it was incredibly non-conclusive but also sort of realistic because few little girls can't defy gods.

However, I loved the concept of the plot and the anime itself so I'm looking forward to this. There is never enough dark mahou shoujo anime out there.

I'm almost done with Season 1, and I'm really excited for Season 2. This anime really gives me a Madoka Magica/Doctor Strange vibe. (And by Doctor Strange, I mean the 2016 Marvel film). I'm really hoping Season 2 will both, continue giving me that Doctor Strange/Madoka Magica vibe, and will be dubbed.

I won't go and spoil anyone but I will say I am pretty much excited for the series, especially for Washio Sumi (well as you could be aware its in my Top 10 favorite anime of all time honestly). So well I can't really help myself but to hype myself up with it.

So is this focusing on the "Senpai" who was almost completely disabled with a ton of faeries and her adventures before the first set of girls?

I really liked seeing Karin let loose at the end of Season 1, her final push gave me goosebumps. She's a typical character type and nothing new, but she was done well. I'd be sad if she wasn't involved.

You're talking about Sonoko, the bandaged disabled girl, right? Then yeah, this'll focus on her and Tougou 2 years before Yuuna's group had been formed, and before Tougou had gotten amnesia(pretty sure this isn't a spoiler since we've all seen YuYuYu and her conversation with Sonoko).

Or actually, no, not the board we're talking on. This is the half that'll focus on her: https://myanimelist.net/anime/34284/Yuuki_Yuuna_wa_Yuusha_de_Aru__Washio_Sumi_no_Shou

Then this half is a sequel to YuYuYu(the board we're on)

My expectations of the show was too high back when it first aired so I ended up pretty disappointed. They cheapened the premise of sacrifice with fake scares. In the end, everyone came out unscathed (given some time).

But since the prequel movies turned out pretty decent so I hope they can do something with the upcoming 6 sequel episodes.
