I think someone's death/health is more important than recording some lines for an anime though TT.TT

Of course they didn't, anime is a JIT production.

this going to be troublesome for the staff to actually find a new Seiyuu who will voiced Ukai-san...
I just hope they manage to find one so that there will no delay for the episode
still, Tanaka-san's voiced will always be remembered tho

Recording lines is generally one of the few things that is consistently done according to schedule, so its likely that most, if not all, of his lines have been recorded. Its only 10 episodes long after all.

Although, this really shouldn't be our main concern. The poor man lost his life so suddenly, I feel so sorry for him and his family.

Pretty sad people care more about how it affects their favorite anime than the fact a human being died. Ugh.

Honestly, I find it a lot more baffling that people feel entitled to judge how others feel and even attempt to measure the value of human life.

The irony is that if someone's wondering whether Tanaka's lines have been recorded means this person most likely appreciates the work he did as a VA - which was stellar in Haikyuu.

Well I am pretty sure most of the people have a "emotional" relationship with the series haikyuu and like 0,01% even knew this guy

still R.I.P tho

Seriously guys..? I said RIP .. What's so wrong in asking if he finished his lines or not. People die everyday.

Yeah except you completely assumed that, they just asked if the lines had been done, can you not mention the character at all because he died? stfu

I'm not sure how long Haikyuu's production staff has been working on s3, but based on Shirobako, they might have lines recorded up to ep 4 or 5 right now. I imagine they'll announce who will be voicing Ukai if they get a replacement.

I wonder if they'll postpone episode 2 for a week...this all happened so suddenly.

Because Apparently you can't ask something that is related to someone who just died .

Seriously how is asking something , some sort of disrespectful behavior ? if he really cared more about how it affects his favourite anime instead of Tanaka Kazunari's death as you said he would've whined about it like : "Too bad he died who's gonna replace him as coach Ukai" or "I Hope he did record all his lines" and he didn't .

Living and dying are just two parts of the same thing. Approach the topic however you want, but don't expect everyone else to feel the same way about it that you do.

And to assume the worse about someone to me stands out way more than OP being concerned about whether or not the dead person in question was able to finish his work and leave behind something which people may enjoy for years to come.

The voice acting? Yes. I watched Girlish Number ep 3 and it shows that voice acting is done alone. Well, that's not all the time since but it's only 10 episodes and I belive it's done.

I feel pain whenever I hear the coach talking :(

As for the seiyuu himself it is sad he have to die in such way and even if so many days or years will pass I will still remember him.

I don't think so they have managed to grasp his voice to the end of this anime, and it is also impossible to find someone close enough with similar voice. As we know we are talking about Japan so my assumption is that if they can make some music made by Hatsune Miku they can in some way restore his voice for the rest of anime or something like that.

It was just announced that Hisao Egawa will be voicing Keishin Ukai starting ep.9 and 10 of the season.
http://www.j-haikyu.com/anime/news.html?id=126

I don't really remember his voice well to comment, but I read fans' comments from another site that he would do good job on inheriting Tanaka-san's Ukai.

Edit: forgot to type one word.

Oh man, here I was hoping that Tanaka-san has managed to voice all lines of coach for this entire season before passing away :( Shame!

I know Egawa's voice mainly for Killer Bee from Naruto, and to be honest it doesn't feel that similar to Ukai-sensei's, but maybe he has a wide range and will do a decent job? I sure hope so.

Wow. That was really his last line? I have to say, there couldn't have been a better line to go out on. Powerful stuff. Now, more than ever, I'm hoping Karasuno wins this thing.

Rest in peace, dude.

It would be really nice if the producers dedicate a tribute to him or something.
He did such a great job on Ukai that I can't imagine anyone else's voice on him.

To be honest I hadn't realized Ukai's seiyuu had been replaced or had died until I opened this thread. RIP Tanaka Kazunari T___T </3 he was wonderful as Ukai, such a distinct voice... though I think the reason why I couldn't tell Ukai's seiyuu had changed (thought he sounded off but I still thought it was the same person) was because of the rush I felt watching the final episodes.

Anyway, after I re-watched scenes from ep. 10 with Ukai talking a lot(-ish), I can't help but hear Killer Bee since it's the role I'm most familiar with by Egawa. It feels kinda wrong but then I'm so used to hearing Tanaka's voice so it can't be helped. I don't expect Egawa to completely replicate the original voice for Ukai seeing as both seiyuus are completely different people but I hope he does a good job with Ukai in the future/S4 (I'm confident there will be one and would be thoroughly depressed if there isn't). So best of luck to him~

They chose the wrong guy to take over. I thought some old dude was narrating couch's thoughts. Keiji Fujiwara would've been perfect as a 2nd for that role.
