Well that was more lighthearted than I had expected.

We get a little background story too and the main girl always wanted to be a magical girl. Character designs imo looks kinda meh, nothing impressive there although the episode does set up the season somewhat well with the game gimmicks.

I think Koyuki is cute as a button though, especially her in-game avatar :>
Definitely overall lighthearted so far. I kinda like the ED theme song.

I was expecting a dark, action-packed fuckfest of magical girls killing each other.

Instead, I got...... nothing. That was nothing.

Well I suppose that was kind of a slow start but it wasn't bad at all.
I like the art and the animation is good too.

That opening scene though, All that blood. :O
After seeing that I kept expecting someone to get stabbed during some conversation though in the end nothing happened. XD

The chatroom was literally a chatroom, I don't know why I was expecting some huge palace like conference room.
Sou-chan can change genders, Wow. :3

Overall, Most of the episode was basically just info dumping and building the setting of the events to follow, It was still nice though.

Looks like that post credit scene with the mascot saying it wants to halve the number of Mahou Shoujo's is the trigger to the Blood and Gore that is expected to happen.

hmmm, so they choose to mix volume 4 short stories with the volume 1 storyline at adequate moment. I had the feeling they would do that, so I'm not surprised, it's the most logical choice.

I had a bit of a WTF moment on the scene before the OP with all the bodies before I understood what scene that was, and I salute the choice for an opener, that was interesting (I don't salute the way they handled the scene tho, oh well).

For anyone interested, the real short prologue scene of the first volume is actually around the 13th minute in, with the girl who lost her key. Everything before that is prior to volume 1's story.

Due to this however the main story will begin more slowly, not like it's a bad idea imo. It's just that some anime watcher with their usual goldfish-level of attention spawn may not follow the story until it really start so that may lower the popularity and sales overall but.... Well, whatever.

EDIT : Oh, and I forgot to talk about it, but I like both the ending and opening song. Nice stuff.

Well considering the synopsis and that earlier scene of blood, this anime surely "cute" to watch. Especially their avatar.
And that is Souta. Never even think about it. LOL

I was expecting for them to go Light Hearted at first since this is what usually goes for most Mahou Shoujos, but not a bad way to introduce the characters and one of the points of the plot. I am pretty sure it will go differently but, at the same time, I'm pretty curious how this will go in all honesty.

The Ending was probably my most favorite thing from the series so far, as it had the type of tone I would usually like in series, along with the chemistry and interactions of the two characters. I was actually surprised for La Pucelle though.

Overall, not a bad start, it was good as an introduction, pretty nice choice.

Not sure what to think. The beginning and ending's darker undertones make this pretty intriguing, I just hope it plays out in an engaging way if it indeed is a survival game of sorts.

OP and ED both really solid.

It's quite different. I don't know about "level of dark" but it's not a happy story at all, that much is similar, yes. Probably even less of a happy story than Madomagi, but the "pain" is more direct than madomagi, less psychological and most physical, especially in the arc that will be adapted in anime.

It started very lighthearted. It seems that the mahou shoujo dream of that girl is going to turn into a nightmare next episode. That bunny gave vibes like Kyuubey from Madoka.

I will follow a few episodes to see how much slaughter we get.

Lol I can't believe Koyuki's friend actually became a magical girl. Good job Souta, follow your dreams.

it's not like boys becoming magical girl are the most surprising thing happening in Mahoiku anyway x).

they could have trolled peoples in the anime by delaying the reveal about Souta (doing a flashback later on). What a waste of an opportunity.
The salt about peoples taking her as a waifu would have been worth it :p.

Went in with very high hopes and expectations for this one. And imo, it delivered.
I was very pleased from start to end and regretting that I started it immediately. I usually wait a few days at least, so if I liked what I saw, I wouldn't have to wait a full week, heh. But I wanted this one and a few others premiering this season to sort of break me into this site.
Welcomed all the surprises, including the ones that were probably obvious? La Pucelle caught me off guard xD.
Eagerly looking forward to the next episode, and possibly discussing it with those who stick around!

Not what I expected but then again, we can't expect all blood and guts in episode 1, right? This episode did great a setting up a happy magical girl society. I hope that next episode however, that we start to see some of the dark themes that seem like they will be present through this series.

Wow, I'm happy that I picked it! Really interested in it now. I like that they did a slow paced episode first (people are ALREADY complaining that nothing happens? IT IS THE FIRST EPISODE WTF XD)
I KNEW THAT LA PUCELLE WAS THAT GUY! >: )
(Funny because when they were all in that chatroom I thought "What if one of them is actually a fat bearded dude?" lol)

The ending is pure love <3
Fav is basically Monokuma then XD

And guys turning into magic girls is not actually knew, just uncommon:

Production-wise, this looks really good. Lighthearted start, so any impatient people are likely triggered and will leave butthurt.

I like the Mahou Shoujo designs, really good looking and it's cool that we have the boy from the flashback be her mentor.

Definitely a light-hearted start, but there's still more than enough here to grab my attention, not least that opening scene and the one after the credits. For now at least, until the survival game or whatever gets started, it seems like it'll be interesting to see how they continue to apply the premise of becoming magical girls through a phone game; it's something different for once, and I definitely like how it's been handled already. My only complaint is that Fav wants to halve the number of magical girls in the city (though 15 to 8 isn't halving, but whatever) but still invites Koyuki to be one just before deciding on this cull. I'm assuming this is something Fav has been thinking for a while now, as the exposition from Souta makes it easy to understand how various issues could arise from there being 15 in one city, so to add another one seems bizarre.

Oh well, OP is good, ED is excellent and this seems highly promising, so I'm fairly satisfied.

Well, atleast the artstyle isn't ugly like that Madoka anime.I also like how unlike most magical girl shows this one has girls(and one dude) looking more human/different than their transformations.

For sure, Nano sing the ED song. and i like it a lot.
the thing that i like about this first episode is the atmosphere which i will feel until the end of the series. i like it a lot. the op song is pretty good and the ed song is great. animation looked pretty in my perspective...but....the story....i'm not really sure...but let's just see.

i mean, a guy actually turrn into a magical girl and literally turn into a female. that was one hell of a trap. he isn't the only one moreover.

and i kinda hope this is not madoka magica rip off.
the into got me goosebumps but after that, just a lighthearted scenes.
but i will see what will happen. expecting somthing good tho xD
looking foward to the next episode...

I actually liked the episode a lot. Liked how they shown that gritty beginning to have a light hearted introduction instead (though the beginning implies things are going to end very ugly, and the ending doesn't helps at all).
Loved how they take the magical girls with any of them having different powers and missions (thing who Madoka also had, but that aspect wasn't explored very much in the series).

My biggest two surprises have been however this two:

1) La Pucelle being actually Koyuki's male friend from the school. I have the feeling he would reappear at some point in the story, but definetely not as a magical girl (who ironically has bigger boobs than Koyuki). In fact, I thought it wouldn't be strange there would have been a male player considering it's a online game (plus the great among of male fans of the magical girl genre), but didn't expected Koyuki's friend being one of them.

2) This character being voiced by Megumi Ogata of all people. I am so used to her boys roles I forget she can pull a nice girly voice when she wants.

Anyway, nice beginning for the series (even the visuals looked really good). Looking forward this.

Btw, I swear that Fav magical pet is the bastard son of Monokuma and Kyubey.

The episode 1 is pretty lighthearted, good start i guess. But i didn't expect the 1st scene to be filled with blood lmao.

It would be nice seeing people slowly dying as they watch the later episodes of this anime, from lighthearted to merciless killing each other i'm so blessed to watch an anime again lololol

7/10 so far. The start is good, OP/ED is nice, Good animation. Will watch the 2nd episode next week.
