Based on the trailer that was just released, it looks like there will be more to this anime than just your typical idol fair, with the transformations and the masked man. Maybe this show has a chance to be good, or it could crap the bed. You never know. So what do you guys think?

Not even Love Live is better than Idolm@ster, lower your expectations quickly before you get disappointed. It's going to be better than Aikatsu though.

finally, someone who gets it! (i like ll, but it frustrates me to no end how many of its fans say shit like 'oh i adore ll but it would've been nice to have had more plot / less fanservice / a serious look at the idol industry...' but refuse to give imas a try.)

ANYWAY. it's not necessarily a proper idol anime, more about voice acting i think? but judging by pvs gi(a)rlish number looks waaaay better than this. i'll give both a try, but i do anticipate that one being something that ranks closer to imas than any other idol show has to date.

Honestly I have very low expectations for this series so I know I won't be disappointed if the show ends up being bad.

Looks like it might be kinda Idolmaster cinderella setting seeing the pv has something of an established place they are at? Working off what the original idolmaster did or something. Dunno what else to expect from this but the main female mc has a cute hair style. Don't think they will try what Wake Up Girls did.

It did make me curious there with the transformation and stuff, i might watched it but big chance i'll drop it.. Macross Delta is not idol anime but i think its way better than this, the tranform I mean, but tbh idol anime lately getting so boring, even LL series that I really like, the last series is so-so. I can say even Wake Up Girls! is better

Love Live! is better than Idolmaster. The fanbase is more diverse (56.6:43.4 male to female ratio), while Idolmaster's fanbase is almost one-sided (90:10 male to female ratio). There's a reason why µ's was invited to perform at the invitation-only end-of-year NHK Kouhaku in 2015, performed at Tokyo Dome, and grossed almost 4 times as much at the Box Office (even if Idolmaster had more bonuses to get people to watch the movie), and has 11 gold disc certifications (shipping > 100K copies each).

It is clear that Love Live! has a bigger fanbase, because during the Final Love Live, they didn't just completely fill Tokyo Dome over 2 days with 50,000 capacity each day. They also live streamed the concert in over 160 theaters in Japan and over 60 theaters overseas, to 150,000 people, for a total live viewership of 250,000. Comparisons between story is irrelevant, as the only thing that matters for an entertainment medium is enjoyment. That's what sells products in the end... unless you take the Idolmaster route and bundle an event ticket on every CD release possible *cough cough*. Thanks to the bundling of the 4th Cinderella Girls live concert event ticket serial code on a cheaper CD, Idolmaster finally achieved its first gold disc certification after Idolmaster's 11th year. Love Live! did that for 3 consecutive weeks with the movie singles, without any sort of sales doping whatsoever.

That doesn't make it better, greater sales, profits, and wider fanbase ≠ better, for example if you compare the main 13 from Idolm@ster to Muse, Idolm@ster has them beat, same with Sunshine.

You are being subjective, so as far as my subjective point of view goes, while I love some of the main 13 Idolm@ster, I hate a fair number of them. Meanwhile in the LL and LL Sunshine, I love the majority of them. So character wise LL > Idolm@ster.
