I haven't watched it yet, but reading the premise of this series gives me the chills.
This is not a time travel, and the age gap is fairly large (as opposed to Again!!). All that happens is that his appearance changes, right? He is still a 27 year old man. And looking at the poster and the PV leads to believe that there will be romance involved.

Does the story actually address these issues, or is it glossed over like every other pedo anime?

There aren't any pedophillic realtionship in the show and the MC is conscious of the actual age gap and doesn't do anything that'd be considered pedo

Technically, it's only paedo if the target is prepubescent. So no, it's not "creepy".
Also, as mentioned by several posters here, MC is conscious of the presence of a significant age gap between him and his most likely romantic interest
, so there's nothing that will offend anyone's delicate sensibilities in this season at least.

Yes, because being attracted to a girl who is 17 years, 11 months, 30 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds old is considered "pedophilia". One second later, and it's not. Laws are one thing, the lack of a common sense is another. Also, as mentioned above, pedophilia is the attraction to prepubescent children.

Interestingly enough, even in America, the age of consent varies from 16 to 18 depending on the state, so 18 isn't as universal as you'd think.

Also, I don't see anything wrong with there being an age gap. My parents were born more than a decade apart and many of my friends have parents with a similar age gap.

That's funny, I was more concerned about the ethical issue (than the sexual one) like playing with the lives of high-school students, using them as tools for reeducating young adults : intruding into their normal lives, eventually changing their course and erasing part of the memories on top of it?

It's science fiction, so it's ok but in "real" life there's no way you would allow to use young people as if they were "things". The company behind the relife experiment would just end up in a justice court.

I'm aware there's a big nonsense with the sci-fi concept of relife, but I like a lot the resulted "what if?" purpose and the show is greatly done with that in mind.

Some scenes the drama felt like it was too much. The characters really go too far over the small situations which makes anime feel awkward and kind of creepy.

The mc never for once forgets the fact that he is way older than the kids for most.of the series he works as a supporter and helps them with their problems in high school, so yeah none of that, even after finding his potential love interest.(not gonna spoil)

Unlike *cough satoru*cough* here he is aware of the fact, and it is handled fine unlike a certain show. So yeah, no to your question.

You're allowed to think it's creepy. I find middle-aged men who prey on little girls creepy too but that's not the case in this series. If you don't want to watch it then don't.

I use the word "pedo" lightly (which I probably shouldn't). I don't use it in the legal sense. I value mental maturity much more highly, and by most measures even college age is fairly impressionable and a little too young to be making life decisions.

I'd rather not start if this were the case, but seeing everyone assure me it doesn't fall into this trap I might give it a go, assuming the actual quality of the show is good.

I wonder how it is pedo anime (yeah even you said you're using the word lightly).
But in Japan, even 16 year old girl can get married, so there's nothing pedo in this show. And yes, those girls are just kids, no matter are they able to get married or not, so I understand your concern. But anyway as I said, not pedo show.

Not exactly creepy when you consider Japan has extremely differing standards than us in the west.

From when having a relationship with 16/17 year old is considered a pedophilic relation ?!

Most men are attracted to girls in their late teens anyway, so it's only creepy if you're insecure in the first place. I'm 22 and I'm not ashamed to say I'd be attracted to a 17/18 year old - whether I'd do anything is another story. Plus the MC actively tried to avoid anything untoward happening. The MC made the right choice.

Plus - it isn't real.

It. Is not. Real.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

You're saying... it's weird for him to be physically attracted to her, when she looks like a beautiful woman?

Whether he takes action on that attraction or not determines his character. He's a good guy.

Why would age gap creep people? Don't they say age is just a number, and that love is blind?
There are plenty anime that adress this issue in a totally non-creepy way, for example Garden of Words, where the age gap is 12 years, or Koi Kaze where a guy in his twenties is in love with his 14 year old sister (or cousin? i'm not sure).

Anyway, if the premise is treated seriously, then i don't see any problem.

Yes, not for the age gap, but for the fact that an organization exists that follows and investigates your entire life and determines whether or not you should be drugged for conducting social experiments in public high schools.

27 isn't even close to middle-aged yet. Middle-aged starts at around 40-45. At 27 he's still in the first half of being a young adult.

Quick Spoiler-less answer:

No, it's not. The MC never forgets the fact he's 27 y/o and let me tell you, he has his head well mounted over his shoulders. He's a very strong person, with good will.

For me, the premise shouts comedy, not creepiness. Those who say the premise is creepy assumes too much. They assume the MC will have a pedophilic or something tendencies. We can only say that the show is creepy if we actually see the show and the MC acts creepy. But, there's a romance tag. Those who say it's creepy because see the romance tag, they also assume a little. They assume that the romance is about an adult and a high-schooler.

I'm 30 and I can honestly say that I would find a girl like that to be cute but a relationship would pretty much be out of the question. Life changes you so much from 16-24 that it would be hard to keep something like that going. I think this age gap endures even when you get in your 40s and 50s. Most people don't want to be with someone that isn't even part of their generation.

What's wrong with 27 y/o guy liking 17 y/o girl anyways? Difference isn't that much and 10 year old difference marriages are quite common. It's funny how 27+17 is bad but 18+60 is gud

I don't know man. But what do you expect from people who think getting married at age 27 too young also ? They think significant age gap automatically means pedophilia. A 17 year old girl has already matured physically. Also yeah some people are married and their age difference is 8-10 years . I know several cases. Nothing wrong with that.
