i absolutely love what they have done with the rebirth of the digimon franchise. they have so mcuh material and characters to work with. its so much deeper and complex than pokemon ever dreams of being. there is love/hate morality friendship bravery loss etc. i just hope somewhere down the line soon they are making another digimon anime. maybe this time following davis' crew grown up, or the 3rd season kids (impiraldramons) anime forget the MCs names atm but we dont need new digiDestends. there is SO much to make on the EXSISTING MC already in place. plus the fucking untold digimon we have yet to see. this show could literally be one of the best anims ever if done right. it proves it doesnt have to be only kiddy level dialoue and intensity. it could/should be for adults. my version at least would be. fingers crossed there is more digmon comming our way..

I want to see more but I'm not hyped because the first two movies were disappointing for me. I'm absolutely bored by the story and dumb hot springs stuff in the second movie made me cringe hard. Also I don't care for any of the new characters and the animation is straight up bad.

BUT I do have slight hope for the 3rd movie. It's looking promising considering what we got from the first two movies. We'll see but so far, I'm not feeling these movies.

I finish every anime I start no matter how bad it is. Also, I'm a fan of Digimon. I will watch all of the upcoming 3 movies no matter what and if I don't like them and want to say what's on my mind, I will say it.

Why watch something you dont enjoy?
Isnt that waste of time?
Why dont you find something you would enjoy more instead of torturing yourself

Well, one of the reasons I don't drop series if I don't enjoy it is because I just don't like to leave things unfinished. It's just how I am. Also, I personally don't find watching those kinds of series a waste of time because of 2 reasons: 1) Most of the time, I'm having fun laughing at how bad the series is and how it fails. 2) There is always a chance of it becoming better as it goes on. So there you go.

Maybe. :D
But these movies aren't excrutiating for me to watch so I wouldn't say I'm being masochistic watching them. Watching Digimon Young Hunters was physically painful for me though and yet I watched it all. Now that I think about it, it might have been masochism.

Same thoughts here. I do not know the idea of having someone like Meiko involved here, as far as the first two movies are concerned. Why she was there in the first place? Oh yeah, she's Meicoomon's human partner. That's it for now, honestly. I wonder how she will make a good role for herself in this series other than being the shy-type character?

Also, watching those two of the known adult characters in the anime Kiznaiver (Yamada and Urushibara) somehow reminded me of Daigo and Maki in this series for some reason. Even the number of members of respective groups in both Kiznaiver and this series (eight, though Digimon Adventure main group do have members of different ages ranging from 14 (Takeru and Hikari) - 18 (Jou) compared to the Kiznaiver group). To be honest, I do not know what ideas Digimon Adventure tri would try to work on here and there, considering how character-driven those first two movies (and possibly the upcoming two others) are but at the same time the plot is pretty unclear, yet I felt it will ended up as a plot-driven series considering Taichi's forced character progression/behavior throughout these first two movies and possibly having him being the first person to act for strengthening of relationships between humans and Digimon (basically because of his role in the 02 epilogue, and mainly because of how instant that development happened to him). That kind of progression could have been better been the clearly Lawful Good Takeru's dilemma rather than Taichi's.

I hope this series isn't just an attempt for nostalgia since, like you said, it is quite disappointing to watch these movies assuming one knew the storyline and characters of Digimon Adventure series (the original and 02) pretty well.

I hoped that these movies would improve upon the flaws that original Adventure/02 had and explore some uncharted aspects of Digital World and Digimon themselves. It would have been nice to get more insight into Digimon themselves but unfortunately, Digimon still feel like puppets for children to fight with. Their personality even seems like it devolved. They are way too juvenile for some reason. Basically, I hoped these movies would have a more mature approach like, for example, Tamers had. But nope. Instead we got shlock fights, generic slice of life bullshit and just generic characters honestly. So I'm also baffled about what exactly is the point of Tri. But that's what it is so far. There are still 4 movies to go so there is a chance that these movies might still bring something interesting to the table. They need to. There is a new Digimon series coming and it looks so bad. Future seems grim for Digimon anime.

To the OP, I'm still excited for this part, but it's been dying down since the wait has been a little longer than previously thought, and the PV actually hasn't gotten me super excited for anything like the last two did. (The feels were still there, but that's what Digimon does to me, so...) I'm not sure what's going on currently as to where the direction of tri is headed, but the third movie should be the one where it's the deciding point as to whether-or-not we're going to be getting answers from here-on-out. We should be getting them at this point, but I want to hold on to that glimmer of hope the first half of the series was going to set up questions, and then the second half would give answers and better quality.

I will not be happy if the fourth movie comes and goes without giving answers/signs of progression, so that's probably where the most of my attention will be depending on how this one goes.

But slice-of-life moments have been a thing in the past for Digimon :(. Seeing what the characters do when they're not being DigiDestineds gives us the best of both worlds, if you ask me, it's just different now because they're high school students. There could've been better uses to those SOL moments, sure (what happened to the DigiDestined parental interactions 8(, I've always loved that about Digimon save us, Hiroaki!), but I've honestly liked them. The hot springs opening was weird, though, but at least they didn't do it for fanservice like most other shows, because that would've been really awkward. Well, more-so than it already was.

But then again, this is coming from someone who's a sucker for SOL, so I welcomed it with open arms.

It's just that the biggest problem, however, is the pacing suuuucks. Scenes go on for too long, or too little when it should be the other way around, and the balancing out of the characters has been rocky. I've thus far felt all of the 90+ minutes of the previous two installments and not just because Crunchyroll split them into four parts. I get it that this is a problem every single Digimon series has had (and just about everything Toei has ever touched, tbh), but this is kind of ridiculous, especially since these are theatrically released months apart. They should've just stuck with a TV schedule, I honestly don't see why tri had to be a series of "movies".

There is a new Digimon series coming and it looks so bad. Future seems grim for Digimon anime.

I'm with you there. Appmon's giving off Monster Strike vibes and it bothers/worries me a lot. I'm all for trying new things with the series, but this is probably not the right way to go for Digimon even if it's out of desperation. We'll see how it's executed.

The problem for me is that in these movies SOL moments seemingly have no purpose. It feels they are not used for any progression whatsoever. They offer no interesting or new insight in these characters. There's nothing here. It feels like filler almost. I was never bored during SOL moments in previous Digimon seasons because they had a purpose. I guess stuff with Leomon and the way he behaved was a bit interesting, but it didn't work for me. Didn't like how he was portrayed like such a dumbass but at least it was something we didn't see before.

Agree about the pacing. And I also don't know why they made them into movies. Especially since they couldn't match the animation quality of any of the previous Digimon movies. Seriously...

I have no hope for this series. I will watch it because it has "Digimon" in the title, but I just know it's gonna be a dumb soulless kids show. Also, I'm a sinner. The excrutiating pain this show is going to inflict on me will be a good punishment for my sins. lol
