THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
First half felt slow but the prep for the battle was okay.

Both sides has their own skills so...
Glad to see more Nobles tbh as it brings more variety. I think I spotted

The fight itself was kinda neat especially seeing the military in action and some ranged fighting tactics. I think Yuu improved a bit too. Lol dat face

So that's what happens when they only adapt 2 chapters. I'm surprised they don't just do this all the time.

Phew. For a moment there, I thought they were gonna skip the part that showed Yuu's development.

Fabuloso Shinya is fabuloso.

The first half was pretty faithful

OST was rad. Kimizuki doing what he's best at - winding people up, lol. Yuu's ass-shot; I can't even.

The last bit with Guren was adapted decently. I think I'm gonna cry. They better do the part in 1-2 episodes perfectly, or I'll start flipping tables.

Crowley is hilarious, just whistling while going through paper work, lol.

4/5
Pretty solid episode, imo.

Preparation and getting trust. Nobu's character is taught by Suzuki-san's character to shoot from faraway. Koyasu-san's character is the main target this ep. He sacrificed his own vampire when Nobu's character shot him.

He's strong as he is. They used provoke and teamwork to win against him (or rather, he sacrificed himself for not letting humans to kill him). Nakamura-san's character's team trying their best to kill more vampires and won though exhausted. Rest of teams lost miserably, though. Showing SuzuKen's character at the end, who's the one who killed many members by himself.

Glad to see that this episode was adapted very well.....Definitely the best episode of the season so far

Yuu's development, plus that great teamwork against that noble all mixed in with some nice Guren moments....Sadly, shit is about to get real considering how powerful Crowley is and considering the fact that a company of 45 men got REKT lol

If this season adapts as far as I think they're trying to, things are going to keep on getting more intense with each episode (Especially if they at least adapt it well and if they don't, include decent enough substitute original content)

What happened to the older vampire that was with the one that died? All I saw was him arm ripped off, but they didn't show his body anywhere. I never assume someone is dead without seeing the body vanish. That's anime basics 101.

So let me get this straight; Guren is expected to go to Nagoya and beat 10 nobles with just a 100 man team. And yet 45 of this 100 man team got taken out by 1 noble Crowley. Doesn't this seem like an impossible mission for them to do by themselves?

I assumed the noble used him as a meat shield against the sniper attacks and the arm was what was left.

Can't wait to see Krul fighting again, wonder how Guren and the others defeat her.

Oooh, pretty cool action this episode.
Fav scene was when the noble went for Kimizuki and the camera changed DOF to focus on the sniper team appearing behind.

Someone fire the sound director please. I think I've heard the same vocal BGM used for every action scene so far. And the BGM choice when they were winning was just so bad. The same piece of music just continued in the same tone when the noble took up Yayoi's sword, when he stabbed himself, and even after that when the team were rejoicing over their win. TERRIBLE.

As for now, the only characters I care about are the sniper guy (I think his name is Shinya?) and Guren. They've been really cool this season.

I really hope it won't be just random guys who die (like the one at the end), but also "regulars". Can't take it serously otherwise.

Probably mpi, he works with Sawano Hiroyuki (one of the composers of the OST).
It sounds like him and he's already on a couple of the tracks on the OST for the first season.

I think this episode was actually adapted quite faithfully. It's amazing how much more enjoyable this can be when the studio isn't rushing and/or cutting out all the content. This was actually a pretty decent episode.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Gotta love how the noble used his companion as a meat shield. Talk about taking one for the vampire team.

Yep, he used his subordinate as a meat shield, else he would have had trouble. That arm was the only thing left of that body (also keep in mind that the vampires turn into ash or what was that again)

So from what I'm gathering - solely from watching the anime - I've concluded the following about this series:

The first season of Owari no Seraph was a big, blockbusting attempt at shoving all that is needed to know about the world that this particular story takes place in. That much was achieved in the first season; it was epic, jaw-dropping, and seriously mesmerizing to the point in which the majority of those who watched it were thirsty for more. The first season was amazing and really told the story of Yu and his struggle to understand and accept family. We were introduced to all the important characters and briefly experienced their unique, individual attributes. The end of the first season milked up a bunch of drama, too, to make sure the audience would stick around for whatever would come next, which, like I said, was accomplished and even brought in more people to go on this journey. Alas, twelve episodes doesn't always suffice a thoroughly completed story, making it seem rushed. That's where season two comes in.

In my personal opinion, season one was strong in most, if not all aspects except for one: character development. Yes, we did meet practically everyone that matters in the story and were exposed to who they were... but it was all on a superficial level. Who Yu was in the first episode of the series has since become an evolved person bursting with a rainbow of attitudes and emotions. Other than a small taste of Mika's inter-conflicts of accepting his new life as a vampire, and Shihō's fight for his sister, no other characters felt too defined as to who they are. This changed at the very end of the first season when Shinoa expressed her affection toward Yu, her concealed care for and her repudiation of the inability to lead others, and a list of other personal conflicts that she's still struggling to overcome. The drama and taste of character development created a hunger in our minds to see more of this in the current season.

So rather than having one longer and fuller show, we're being treated to different parts of a story spread profoundly and unconventionally across multiple seasons. While other stories from all cultures have tried and failed to succeed in achieving something so bizarre and daring, Owari no Seraph is proving that such can be achieved if done correctly. This was a pretty ballsy attempt to attract the massive audience that such a blockbuster demands, but I believe it was done efficiently and effectively.

Again, this is all my own personal opinion. I may be right, but I'm more than likely over-analyzing this matter and creating bologna with my fingers. I have not read the manga or the light novels, so I have no clue how the original story is currently being written and thus my conclusions aren't likely accurate. But alas! I've still made them. :P

Believe what you want. Read this, or don't; I couldn't care less.

I was just going to say exactly the same, this season is better than first one. Still, most of the characters from this anime seem to lack development, which could have been done in season 1 but, honestly, it was awful.
"Doubting everything that you take on... That is very important. Open your own eyes, clear out your ears, and look and listen to the world... And think using your own brain. Oh wow, I never even realized it. I thought he was saving his ally by pulling him out of the way. Never thought he used him as a meatshield. Jeez, that's so cruel sacrificing him in the blink of an eye like that.

I guess we can see from this fight that arrogance is a major weakness of the vampires. I'm pretty sure the other vampires like Ferid and Crowley won't fall but it's a nice thing to keep in mind that they can lose their cool just like the humans.

Now, this episode was pretty amazing and solid. Unbelievable how many men they need to take down just one noble. The battle was great and the OST delivered. I can imagine things are just going to get tougher now, so looking forward to the next episode. If they keep this up, it'll definitely be better than the first season.
