Which season is better?

So with season 2 winding down I wanted to hear other people's thoughts on which season they think is better. Personally, I like season 2 better because of all of the drama and how the friendships of the characters have improved because of it.

Season 1 or Season 2? Obviously the latter. Despise the plot was rushed, it has decent character development and beautiful animation.

Season 2 decent character development , great animation and superior character designs. But then again the rushing is over the top for vol 7 and 10.

Season 1 was simpler, Season 2 explores the characters more. I am still going to give them both the same rating.

I pretty much disliked both equally lol.

2nd season had better animation though.

I just wish they would show more of the "Romantic comedy" in the title.

The animation in season 2 is far superior and better than season 1. Season 2 also have much development and moments with the characters. Yui, Iroha, Yukinon, and even Saika have some good moments in this season.

weird i guess i'm the only person who liked the first season better.

i thought the first season had more interesting problems that Hachiman solved, there was a very clear progression of events, the characters all had very solid personalities that weren't really explored but put into diverse situations that really showed them off.

the second season is more looking at the personalities under a microscope and dissecting them internally without a clear context. I'm not a big fan of dramas, so i'm going to be biased in this regard, but first season was a very novel approach which made it incredibly endearing. Its not that i dislike the second season, but the character progression and drama pushed it into a more cliche product for me. in summation, the first season was just more fun to watch whereas the second season has been a little too deep for me; although i can see why drama fans would like the second better, for me it lost some of what made it really great.

Season 1. By a LOT. Season 1 is 6-7/10 for me. Season 2 is like 4 so far. Too much drama. Not enough Sensei.

I say season 1, but I'm not judging the plot like most seem to be doing here, because that's taken for granted from the novels. Instead I'm judging the direction of the episodes, writing, the humour, the art and lightning, enjoyment, and overall adaptation.
So yeah, season 1 ftw.

Season 1 and Season 2 were both good.

1 introduced my, in a lighthearted fashion, the fantastic world of Hachiman. 2 elaborated on this world with amusing dialogue and fantastic art (Yui has such a great character design!).

Season 1 and 2 are definitely different ballgames. Had there not been a season 2, Season 1 would have been excellent to stand on its own since the relatively open ending would have been a great place to end the series.

Season 2 however gave deeper character development that few series could achieve, in my opinion.

This. Way too much edginess and forced drama in S2. Not to mention Studio Feel's botched character design job. If only they would of stuck with Brain's Base. They could of saved this sinking ship.

If you are looking for comedy Season 1 is easily better. I like Season 2 more though because the plot gets more serious and there is more character development.

I like both equally. Both seasons advance the story forward. The whole comedy and plot development is because of the source material. But anyways, both seasons are powerful in their own ways. Season 1 is more comical. Season 2 is more realistic.

In fact, I'm going to watch from Season 1 all the way to Season 2 in preparation for the finale.

I loved both. But yahari zoku is probably going down as my favorite anime series of all time. A LOT of in-between the lines stuff going on. Makes you really think a lot. It made me think more than deathnote made me think.

I like Season 1 more, had more engaging dialogues, was funnier, not as dramatic..

Also, a lot of things kind of pass me by in season 2. Half of the time I can't understand what the characters are hitting at, I think the transition from novel to anime wasn't done that well in s2. The tense atmosphere is really annoying at this point..

I enjoyed season 1 because of how Hachiman views females and romance. I kinda saw myself in him.

However, season 2 didnt spend that much time on Hachiman views on females and romance. Instead, half of the anime is spent on that pointless Christmas event and worrying about the blonde guy and his problems. Seriously, what were the point of these??!!!

However, I am enjoying these last 4 episodes since the Christmas event is finally over and the anime is now back to Hachiman's view on females and romance

The only problem I had with season 2 is that Hikigaya became actually mellowed down. Had it been season 1 Hikigaya I think in cases like in episode 12, Haruno would've definitely lost her composure...

Season 2 has to be one of the most talked about anime of all time.

Every anime forum/site you go to is talking about it.
Season 1 never had the exposure like this season. Too bad there wont be a third probably could have made a lot more money.

Man, almost you guys in here just said SS2 is better because of Iroha. I don't have opinion about this reason and i like Iroha so much too, she is the second female character i love most in this series after Yui. But damn, Feel did good than Brains Base not just Iroha. I don't put animation in here because everybody has different taste at this, but Feel make SS2 look like a fucking real life story, it about life society. I don't think it had too much drama, it had style real life, so you can't require it should be funnier. This anime is not for entertaining, it has some lessons about people, the way people treat each other, the way people need to do or not, etc. Maybe if you watch this anime with sincere attitude, you can find yourself in this anime.

It is not an easy anime just for fun or milking money.

I think the whole story in SS2 look serious, and rare to find any anime talk about school life but less humorous and take serious at almost situation like this one at the moment or even near future. Oregairu. Zoku is one of the special anime i ever seen. With the damn good story, Feel also was good at developing characters to fit with this story, most at 8man, he is better than his own in SS1, less monologue, but also do more action. The scene he cried in front of Yui and Yukion blowing my mind. This is one of the best scenes of this anime or even in anime industry.

I don't watch many anime, i just find some anime is really good then i will take time for them, and Oregairu from SS1 won my heart, but then SS2 appears, my mind is blowing up. It comes back and do better at all.

Top 2 male characters i like most is Okabe Rintarou from Steins; Gate and Hachiman, I haven't found 3rd person yet. Maybe i don't watch much anime :))

Iroha is a catalyst, if theres no Iroha, it wouldn't be a drama. Ofc, you couldn't see 'sweet' Yui.

Nikodead said:

Yeah, for some parts, overall it doesn't. What makes this good is overdramatized highschool relationships. In real life, you wouldn't find someone observant like 8man who willing to do social suicide to achieve his goals. You can't find a real best friend like Yui who always do her best for her friends. For Yukino case, a Mary Sure in real life, you can find it anywhere.

For me the best part of Oregairu is Hachiman, his monologues and how he thinks and I think that was best on display in season 1, I also think season 1 was a slightly better/closer adaptation as well.
One day we will come upon each other, and for that day my claws, teeth, ears, hands and hair are at the ready.

Season 1 was definitely funnier and more lighthearted (more fun to watch)
Season 2 is significantly better in art and animation, but I only like it because I already feel attached to the characters. If I didn't care about them, I could see how it would be really boring. (but has more substance)

Theyre both the same for me, because theyre both really good in different ways. I like them both and honestly view them as one 26 ep anime, but if i had to choose, I lean towards s1 in content

((I also hate iroha and she single handedly is ruining season 2 for me - I like my eps Yukino - heavy

Yeah Hachiman pretty much makes the show for me. If the MC was just some generic dude I would have skipped this series for sure.
