DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- I'm glad to see Iwashiro's giving serialization another shot, it's been awhile since he was publishing Psyren. And this definitely was an improvement from the one shot "Shikigami Twilight Days." I can see this having a lot of potential. |

| Shikigami user huh? Seems okay so far but some bits of the chapter with the fan service were face palm worthy. Kinda curious to see Mako's background in the future because of how much she likes being a detective. |

| Some interesting concepts brought up and a good amount of info dumping for what aims to be a long running Manga. The story is the past being told from the protagonists perspective in the present, right? I wonder how that will be incorporated into the story and if the series makes it off it's feet will we see that apocalyptic looking present as the setting of the Manga. I can see the detective element of this series being really weak going forward, I don't see much of a point incorporating that into the story if it's not actually going to be part of how things are resolved. From the sound of it these characters were taught to control shikigami by people of higher power, I wonder when we'll be seeing them and it sounds like the one who taught the jobber antagonist of this chapter will be relevant. | Bravo. A very good 1st chapter. I wish the series could retain this quality, or even more, exceed my expectations. |
| While the serial is shaping up quite nicely (6 chapters in), I much prefer the one shot to the first chapter. It seemed to flow better and Mako's past and powers were much better portrayed in the one shot. I found the first chapter dulled it down a bit. Fortunately, the 5 chapters beyond that have certainly picked up the pace considerably and are looking quite interesting. A smooth but quicker start than most of the new series. I'm amazed/frightened its popularity is so low, in axing-range danger zone rankings :| Iwashiro is an excellent artist, character designer and story teller and I can't see why his works don't pick up more popularity, they're easily of a higher quality visually and better, non simplistic stories. Guess the current shonen jump seems to have a lower age range than what we've all been used to the past 20+ years so the slightly more mature (but not by much) stories don't do as well as something like Black Clover (enjoyable but the shonen formula to the letter and super simple) I'd have loved a Psyren anime and it certainly deserved one but at the least i'd like to see this series given its fair share and not prematurely axed. |

| It's like Yu Yu hakusho if it was actually about being a Spirit Detective instead of a dude who fights demons. So basically nothing like Yu Yu Hakusho. Anyway it was pretty alright. Hopefully this doesn't turn out lousy like Psyren. |
