Lol, what a way to relive the past again. Not the typical way though. That ending is priceless with the bed scenes.

New character's POV this time and it's Samura. Felt a little bad for her as she keeps saying it'll be okay even if she lives by herself, but gradually realizes it's not..

Kaoru and Hajime sleeping positions in the end were pretty funny though!

Apparently this episode was directed by Itsuki Imazaki, who has a rather distinct flair in his usual art style.

Was it a new character? I thought it was just Kaoru dreaming about her past. I was gonna say I was happy she found love, but I guess the callback at the end coulda suggested it was indeed a different character.

This weeks episode was surprisingly good, caught me offguard with kaoru's lowest times of her life saying "ill be okay" when obviously things are not.

I like this curveball this series has thrown at us, though im hoping for a brighter episode next time.

No, I'm fairly sure it's Koaru.

Yeah, it was a little confusing since the transition between the main focus of this episode (Samura) and the last scene was a bit abrupt. Also, Samura's hair color differs from Kaoru's so I figured they must be two different characters.

But I can't say for sure though. It was probably all in Kaoru's dream or something.

And i know how terribly annoying it is at some point you feel completely useless thinking if this is all there is to life.
Glad i made changes.

Good episode, I thought that the blue haired girl was Kaoru in the past too.
She really was living a low time in her life, trying to keep up saying that all was okay when things were horrible. That apartment was really scary.

That explains everything, it looked different but it still was good :).

Samura is Kaoru's maiden name, right? Also, she dyed her hair blonde.

You guys are confusing me. That black haired girl was Kaoru. She bleached/dyed her hair later on.

Right that's what I figured.

Well yeah a rather poignant episode, but by the end there was definitely comfort for Kaoru as her life went in a better direction. Definitely easy to be happy for her.

Interesting episode, Kaoru was addicted to cigars and alcohol, and the ending surely deepens their relationship.

Okay no more confusion peoples~ We've seen Kaoru with dark hair before, and the flow of the episode made it pretty obvious it was her... If it really was a new character they'd explain what her link to Kaoru or Hajime is, instead of saying "Kaoru was dreaming about the new character's life", cuz that sure makes a lot of sense.

It had a bit of a last episode vibe to it, even though it wasn't xD Didn't hate nor like the different art style... it felt more dramatic which goes well with the story of the episode so it was fine. I wouldn't use it for comedy though.

I totally agree with you. The art doesn't really match the one of other episodes but I guess it was a way to portrait the past. Pre marriage Kaoru was kindda scary and depressed. I'm glad she got married and changed a lot. :)

I really hated the art style for this episode ... please don't let this guy direct any more episodes. It looked like total ass.

Only episode of the season that didn't have me rolling ... hated this episode. I hope the last two are more like what we've seen so far, because any more eps like this will really hurt its final rating.

Art aside..

This was an absolutely beautiful episode. Just so many different emotions all packed up in three minutes nice and tightly. Adulthood is no laughing matter, and Kaoru's back story was no doubt very relatable to many people. Will everything really be okay? Even after all I'm doing and trying..? What a realistic take on the harshness of life.

This show continues to surprise me so pleasantly.
If this was a standard 22 minute series and kept with the same quality of storytelling and better animations, there's no doubt this show could be well rated around 8-8.5.

Perfect description of the episode :) I definitely thought it was really relatable, although I'm not yet at the stage of life she was suffering in in her flashback, but I'm almost there...like it'll be coming up in half a year and I'll be clueless in life and probably be like her. I wasn't expecting a serious episode, but it was a good one nevertheless. Short but to the point and done effectively. The ending part was cute too. Everything did turn out okay for Kaoru ^^
