Don't think I've seen any other series which uses the insert arts to such great effect. Also I'll never get tired of them using the opening track in hype moments :D |

| It was hard seeing Carlos get beaten like that. Joe has a goal now, to defeat Jose Mendoza. He destroyed another boxer, even though he went down for a moment. |

| What's interesting is that despite the victories the series doesn't make them look like happy occasions. Joe's determination doesn't look like it has any joy, and we haven't heard his raucous laughter in a long time. Combine that with what he said to Noriko 2 episodes ago about the flame burning until there's just white ash, his behaviour looks more like it's born out of desperation. Also how he refuses to think about any future beyond boxing. It makes even these victories tinged with sadness, maybe even more because the matches are now so short that there's no build-up and hence no emotional release or relief for the viewer. So even in victories it seems more like his motivations are revenge and self-punishment, growing stronger with each boxer he's destroyed. |
