Ah hell no, not another Memento Mori. God. Just how corrupt can they go?

The coup d'etat was actually well done. It was also needed in the series, to further emphasis how truly corrupt and merciless the Federation is. Except since the Federation have full control of the media, and once blowing all the hostages up, there's no plausible evidence of their corruption. "Prelude to Tragedy", what a great title for an episode imo.

episode was okay...

But I think "A-Laws is Evil/ will make peace" talk is enough because the truth is pretty obvious unlike the first season where the real good is hard to determine.

Yet I expect another exemplary strategy by Sumeragi-san
"One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for! You are the way, the truth and the life. We live by faith and not by sight... "

I think you meant A-Laws instead of the Federation.

The subs kept on mentioning the Federation, so I figure I might as well use that, too. But if the A-Laws controlled all the media, then they really do have too much power.

Oh freakin' hell, another Memento mori! Damnit! And they are gonna kill all of those people.

This is really a 2008-2009 show :) Media manipulation (damn A-LAWS), Middle Eastern Terror, "justice".

the feds run the a-laws therefore they are the central focus of the coup. a-laws is just a figure of authority to justify their doings. so you are not wrong my friend.

It's not just A-LAWS, it's part of the Federation's doing as well. & I mean the corrupt "evil" part.

Not to mention we never see Ribbons at all. The mastermind of the entire situation. He must be planning something.

elevator gone = third of the planet doomed (no more power = no more food) Do the Fed even realize this? Or are Innovators out of their minds and suddenly decided that humanity is easier to control if the population is reduced by a third?

wow, they really are ratcheting up the suspense. I liked the writing for the ep, too. About halfway through was when I figued out that the elevator was expendable.

Like everyone else said, trans-am battle was huge cock-tease. His suit might be able to measure up to a Gundam's, but it has HUGE drawbacks. They may be able to mimick the technology, but they can't make it safe, yet.

Ep. 17, I expected lots of death & awesome battles all over!

If that happens then taking the human race to space would be easier (but the human civilians would realise that it's the fault of the Fed or A-Laws, and wonder why would they do that? Or put the blame on CB?).

ALSO, why go to space? Really, Aeola!

Come to think of it, I expected the battle to be less than 3 minutes, cos of the GN Tau drive limitations & the time he was in the MS before the battle. So more/longer Bushido battles = no TRANS-AM. Something like the last Arche VS 00-Raiser battle.

Some random things:
1) Looks like Trans-AM for Gram hurts him really bad. He was spitting up blood when he was fighting Setsuna.

2) Someone mentioned Setsuna's arm might be removed due to the red fake particle gun Ali fired at him. I'm thinking the gun was laced with the fake particles but I don't think Setsuna will lose his arm. If he does I have a feeling he will have a robotic one added like Louise. CB has some crazy tech so I wouldn't pass it by them to figure out how to fix his arm or make a better one.

3) The coup d'etat shows just how clueless the Fed is in this whole situation. The A-Laws and Innovators control everything and like the normal citizens, the Feds are fed only what they need to know. I guess you could say most of the A-Laws are treated like the Feds as well, with the exception of a few higher ups.

4) Fuck the media! Between that and radical religions, I don't know what's worse.

5) Sergei's son is a retard. At least Louise doesn't try to cover up the fact that she's fighting CB for revenge. Sergei's son is fighting to prove that people don't have to die like his mom and of course peace...Does he even realize their killing citizens with their automated robots? He's such a misguided fool!

If I was in his shoes and one of my father's best friends, a very dedicated solider that wants nothing but peace for people, started a coup d'etat, I'd definitely think long and hard about what the reasons for it would be. I wouldn't just dismiss it as, oh he's joined the opposite side we have to take him out. Such misguided bullshit.

6) I suspect Sumeragi's friend Kati will jump ship soon. She's been questioning the A-Laws and Innovators for a long time now...I wouldn't put it past her to double cross them at some point if the elevators are destroyed.

This ep was a good info dump compared to the last few eps that where nothing but action. Looks like next ep will be pure action and destruction again.

Rofl, that's exactly what I thought about Sergei's son when he recalled his past. "What an annoying retard". It would be great if Mannequin could join CB though. And hopefully, Louise can be reunited with Saji soon. :<

Masurao's battle with 00-Raiser is meaningless..

The A-Laws manipulate the public and forges false information to trick the public into believing non-existent things is quite a tactic.

Unless Setsuna recovers from his wound or fight while suffering excessive blood loss and pain, the second Memento Mori attack will become a tragedy in which it will never be forgotten.

A very dull episode for me. If it weren't for the few moments of Setsuna at the end, I would have rated this episode lower but I did give it a 4. I know you need episodes like this but it just wasn't my thing.

I actually really liked this episode. I thought it was great story development to see just how screwed up the A Laws are. How the construe the news, and how far they are willing to go to keep their secrets is just ultimate corruption.

Also I love the part with Setsuna. I'm glad he's changing in place of Lockon. I love Lockon's impact on Setsuna and Tieria. I think Setsuna fighting for something more then the past will make him much stronger in the end.

so the federation used the footage it got from the security feed to make it look like the coup was about killing civilian, and then they reveal they have another death st- i mean another momento mori laser

And the group-hug-kind-of-transformation made me go 'awwwwww' at the end.

That battle with Setsuna was nothing but a grudge fest kept by a man that can not decided what he should fight for. Since so many people fight for love........

I miss Lockon.

So the tower is going to fall. Darn. Not like there are that many other huge things left to destroy. How did they make those memento mori's without anyone knowing. I find it quite a ridiculus weapon. Do you know how much solar energy it would need....

Great episode focusing on the coup and the characters directly involved. The fight was short but still very nice.

The interventions in season one twisted Graham. He became obsessed with Gundam and ended up losing his friends in battle. Defeating 00 seems to be his only reason to live now.

The Graham and Ali battles are really boring now. Meet up, clash, talk, clash, talk some more and then be interrupted and run away. Repeat. I hope they dont show up again until something definitve happens.

The A-Laws are the biggest bastards since the Titans in Zeta Gundam. I hope they get their tail kicked thouroughly and not have a "everyone loses" ending.

What did Lockon mean when he said he "couldn't change?" What does Setsuna mean when he says he'll reform himself? I have no idea how Lockon even needed to change, and it seems to me that Setsuna has already changed a fair bit.

I have a feeling that Setsuna and Graham will have one final, decisive confrontation wherein Graham is killed. Or maybe the series will end with it and they kill each other. That'd be cool.

The A-Laws are disgusting and despicable. Coincidentally, I was having a small debate with a friend a few weeks back who feels convinced that, one day, the world will unite in a peaceful leadership and there'll be no war. I feel as if this kind of proves how that couldn't happen. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, right? The entire world coming together beckons a dictatorship, and the A-Laws prove it.

Recent episodes were great (big country bombing civilians and creating fake news is still pretty relevant) and Setsuna is such a well-rounded protagonist. And the new ending continues the previous one! Kino.

I like to think Setsuna would've clowned on Bushido if his shoulder weren't messed up.

Great, they have yet another another orbital death laser in stock and they aren't afraid to use it near the elevator. They did a good job at making that final shot of the Memento Mori on standby evoke dread.

The A-Laws are really b*stards, i imagine they will shoot the civilians the next episode and blame the coup d'etàt

Most of the episode was actually decent but revealing a second Death Star already is dumb as hell. It really cheapens the actual good storytelling they did earlier when they destroyed the first one. I know logistics is never much of a consideration in modern Gundam series' but the idea that any sort of government could just shit out two gigantic mostly-indestructible orbital space lasers in complete secrecy in like 4-ish years with basically no military threat on Earth to justify making even one really boggles the mind. They either should've failed to fully destroy the first one or come up with a better idea for why they've got something similar. Something as simple as "they put a bunch of nukes in space after the laser got blowed up" would be better.
