| This was a cool episode for perspective. I liked last for how it set up how long this arc has been in the making and all of the elements that led to it. I liked this one for the perspective it gave us. Not only has this arc been in the making story wise but it's also been exploring every single character at play in it. It's almost as if this arc is the culmination of everything One Piece has done since the very beginning and I think that's kind of radical! Seriously, the Straw Hats don't lose that much. Yet they lost to Mihawk, Kizaru, Aokiji, Kuma. We can assume Akainu could win too. Moria put up a darn good fight and we haven't even seen Doflamingo yet. All we need now is Magellan to join up with the war. This is a lineup of people who can nearly beat the Straw Hats and people who most definitely can. And on Luffy's side we have an assortment of characters we've also built up to throughout the entire series. And the way we met everyone involved so far were apart from each other and naturally which makes it feel organic rather than contrived, it feels like the fact the Straw Hats were on the sea this long would mean they would bump into some of the strongest people out there. It feels like a coincidence of so much traveling rather than shoving everything we've already seen together.. It was either coincidence or through responding to Luffy's actions, Kuma came to help Moria for instance and Kizaru came because Luffy attacked a Celestial Dragon and Aokiji came for Robin. It's really cool and it gives Marineford a real sense of precedence. This is the biggest thing One Piece has ever done and Luffy really is an ant entering this battlefield. Plus we don't even know if more Emperors like Shanks and Kaido will show up. O_O The Warlords of the sea are quite awesome too. Kuma and Mihawk beating our Straw Hats are some of my favorite scenes in the entire anime. To this day the way Zoro embraces his own death against Mihawk is one of the greatest Zoro moments. It's a shame he won't be coming face to face with Zoro again. Marineford is going to be special and I wonder how much Luffy will even be able to do there. I'm not even sure what to expect and I think these two recap episodes helped set up the impact these events will hold. This episode also got me wondering about Kizaru.. what motivates him?! He's just a stylish asshole who seems to be carefree about killing everyone around him while lazily doing his job. I love him but I can't even begin to understand what's going on in his head. Further, Akainu's face still hasn't been shown and it looked like he like didn't have arms? Although maybe that was just long sleeves.. Either way I'm sure the fact he's not been shown once so far means that he's going to be a huge deal. |
| It's another recap done in preparation for things to come but this had a lot more variety so I had a lot of fun rewatching the encounters the Warlords and the Admirals had with the Straw Hats throughout their journey. Doflamingo and Akainu have yet to show how powerful they are but Marineford's where they can let out their all! |

| Another good recap, but it’s go time. I have a feeling Marineford will be peak. Most warlords and admirals we know very well. And it’s good to see recaps on them. Two that we don’t. Flamingo- It seems like he has some type of mind control. Idk how anyone could resist. That, the other admirals, whitebeard, Blackbeard, etc. I’m curious to see the full extent of it. The third admiral- They not shown him at all. Don’t know what his powers are. Or anything. Curious to see his fight. Next arc will be epic |
