Found her behaviour also pretty weird and stupid. The simple "okay" from her to the bad guy killed me.

Congrats Emilia, you've managed to achieve the impossible: Become even dumber.

Now she doesn't know what love is? Cannot give Subaru an answer? God, stfu, you dumb broad. sigh. I'm starting to be on Regulus' side.
If you haven't watched "Fantastic Children", don't talk about "best anime". Thank you.

@MyllerPhiem she still doesn't know what it means to love like a woman because never been in love. Why don't you understand something so simple?

Can't believe there are people out there who watched 2 seasons and 2 OVAs but still can't see that Emilia can be this naive because of her backstory, it shows you and it is right in your face.

She got frozen for hundreds of years, and when she got unfroze, she lived in the literal forest alone, people in the other village are scared of her and the only time she has social interaction is with Puck, her contract spirit who is overprotective of her, she even had a wish one day she can have a normal interaction with someone just to talk about weathers even though the weather in the forest is just snowy all the time, she even seems so happy if she gets 5 seconds longer interaction than the usual with someone else from the village (the shopkeeper).

And then one-day Roswaal came in into her life and took her to the mansion full of people who didn't care about her that much to the point they didn't care to be her friends before.

She doesn't have normal activities that teenagers should have (she's mentally 15 years old btw), doesn't get the opportunity to have the experience teenagers should have, she completely isolated.

So yeah if someone else calls you someone who has a "lack of media literacy" then it is your fault. You outting yourself right about now in the name of "rage baiting" Sorry not sorry.
@Myname_Nana FINALLY THANK YOU I was waiting for someone to point this out

It isn't "her being stupid" or "her being a gag character" it literally makes sense when you take into account her backstory...

They dumbed her down like they do with alot of female leads
I've looked to make a real anime waifu,
Too spin my world around like a typhoon,
Why do people keep calling me a raccoon,
Maybe because I keep stealing anime girls hearts like gru steals the moon.

Well yeah...she always was the pure Mary Sue.

Has nothing to do with IQ or anything....since it's a cartoon, going for a very specific theme and character

Literally wanted to drink Crusch's milk in his last thread.

@Laplace_kun truly one of the greatest posts ever present in MAL history, which OP never fails to deliver. Power of a grown-ass dude.

By the way, was the other thread deleted?

...okay after today's episode it aged like a fine wine. I never thought she was that of an idiot. Her not knowing how babies are made was more of a sweet/funny moment, showed how innocent she is, but this episode completely ruined her character.

Not sure if it's Tappei's fault or she really ALWAYS was like that, but openly provoking a psycho was not on my bingo list, especially after previous episodes where she looked very calm and understanding the situation she ended up in. Hell, she wasn't your regular captured princess, she managed to sneak out, gather some intel and comfort a random stranger.

Episode 8 Emilia: btw I have another guy drooling all over me, I don't love you, actually, I don't even know what love is. I won't marry you, even tho I was adamant on going with the ceremony early on, get lost, so go on, just murder me and/or all these poor innocent women on sight.

like what the actual fuck

there's a line between "this character is naive" and "this character is a suicidal idiot". And yes, I watched all previous seasons, movie, ovas. It was weird. especially, I am repeating myself, AFTER it was shown she's going to help the girls. Her little rant would have got all of them killed, Emilia included.

@TheMangaManiac I knew someone would say this. This part was poorly done in the anime.

- Emilia at one point gets frustrated because she was behaving similar to Regulus' wives.

- When she hears Subaru's speech, she gets motivated and shows her determination to do the wedding.

- She finally faces Regulus and is ready to fight. Even though she knows he is very strong. To the point of comparing him a bit to Reinhard.

The anime cut the part where Emilia was ready to fight and animated this as if she was ready to commit suicide...

PS: last fact. Regulus only threatened his wives because they wanted to leave out of fear, if they stayed still he would kill Emilia

You're not alone mate this character is so far divorced from a real person that I just don't see her as one anymore. She's a plot device. Helps me rationalise the things she does and how she acts.

She's a moron, not naive. There is a point where I can't give a character the benefit of the doubt anymore, and Emilia is it. She's been kidnapped by a serial rapist who's giving her the most evil look a character in fiction had ever mustered up and she's flittering about like a concussed toddler.

People are really smoking something with this series because I've never seen such a disconnect between praise given online and actual quality in my life, other than Subaru and small pockets of the supporting cast these characters are NOT the peak I keep hearing about, this cannot be.

Even ignoring how stupid her "I don't know what a virgin is" was, she keeps talking like she just got born. Like, she sounds really stupid at many times. Did her boobs suck up her iq?

Anyone else noticed?

It's so cool that she goes to school where she got taught sex ed, oh wait..

You're telling me the concept of an education system, actual proper sex ed, does not exist in a magic laden otherworld based on medieval settings? Who'dathunk?

This is also ignoring the fact that she also uses old/archaic japanese as well since she was frozen for about 100 years

So to reiterate, she grew up in a secluded elven village (with a presumably different enough culture than the humans and demihumans), basically lived in the woods on her own with the odd trip to town for nuts and such, and was taken in by a lord of a domain to push her into potentially being the new ruler (with the book of wisdom ofc) where the only relevant studying she would've done would be on anything that pertains to her being a better potential ruler.

Considering in our real world, the concept of sex ed wasn't even introduced until the late 19th century, the only way Emilia might've even learnt of the word virgin would have to be in passing, and asking someone right after what it means. With her not knowing the social construct known as "virginity" lining up with what she believed babies come from (a kiss between 2 people who loved each other)

TL;DR you gooners are so weird
@ReXiRa surely this hermit reads books bro. She had no friends and lived in a mansion. Idk how tragic your anime backstory is, you probably came across the word vigin in a book and grabbed a thesaurus in the years post Mei Ice Block, pre getting mollywopped by Wrath.
