Kohaku and Ginro each discovering critical information right before being turned to stone. The former seeing this petrification device for what it really is, a scientific creation. Kohaku had a great fight against Mozu which was awesome to see from her. The latter being summoned to the master of the island only to find out he's a statue this whole time and it's really Ibara who's running the island. The master looking just like Soyuz is big too since we know he remembers his mother frantically sending him away for his safety. A lot of new information in such a short time but it will push the envelope for the rest of the kingdom of science on the island with the infiltration team now gone. Ryusui just mentioned that the islanders will find this cave soon and that might be even sooner than he thinks. Luckily they've not gotten Kaseki awakened and even more of a god tier craftsman since the petrification cured his old man ashes and pains. Rebuilding the mobile lab will help later once more of a ground unit is established. Taiju is working overtime to assemble everyone cast in the ocean so they should be able to get them all going once more fluid is made. With the drone construction just starting we'll see if they can make one good enough to capture the petrification device after all.

Holy shit that end. Kohaku is easily becoming one of my favorite female characters in anime, the final scene of her and Ginro becoming little by little stone following by the ED song was very well done and emotional.
What a turn of events during half episode. Interesting the master of the village be like Soyuz, there are a lot to tell about him yet.

This episode got really good really fast. Everything that happens from Kohaku vs Moz onwards is great. As I expected, Ibara is the real villain behind this village and Ginro finds out. Kohaku finding a way to save him by getting both of them petrified was really good.

And here I thought we would finally get rid of Ginrou's annoying ass. It was a good episode but man, this show is so scared of killing characters.
Not gonna lie, I'm more sad of the fact that we won't be seeing Kohaku for a while.

Wow, I didn't expect the episode to end like that. Bit of a sudden thing to happen, but there was some emotional weight there, and I'll take that any day. Might seem like a low stakes thing with Ginro more likely to live than not, but it's thanks to Kohaku's quick thinking, and it's logical enough to work well I'd say.

I can't wait to see how painful it will be for them to topple down the ego and megalomania of the people ruling this small tribe.

Kaseki-sama is revived! Luckily there is no "poop" mark.
Ginrou managed to see the petrified master who looked like Soyuz!
Unfortunately Ginrou "killed" by Ibara.
Kohaku was fighting against Mozu.
Kohaku was trying to save Ginrou by "tauting" Kirisame to throw petrification stone which is "science" technology!

So many things happened and we're just on episode 2!

Kaseki was unpetrified, the whole crew was found under the sea, Kohaku suggests that she likes Senku, great fight versus Mozu and, of course, Ginro discovers important info about the chief before being lethally wounded but potentially saved by Kohaku (and we get a glimpse of the petrification device, by the way).

Great episode.

i cried again

when i was watching the episode i was thinking this is really good but its just gonna be peaceful for a couple more episodes
AND THEN THIS HAPPENED
i should have known based on the title that something big would happen
and when i saw the title i actually cried because i knew something big would happen but when i watched the episode i forgot about that

i would have felt bad if they didnt fix kaseki's poop hole
i also never considered how much stronger he would get after being revived
this new level of kaseki is very powerful i cant wait to see what he can do

taiju and senku are great friends and everyone us realizing how insane taiju is

im actually not at all surprised that the master is a statue
i dont know why but i thought he would either be a statue or a charismatic young guy kind of like mikey from tokyo revengers

i guess this means iabara is the real leader of the petrification kingdom
if the people find out, it wouldnt be hard for them to rebel
i dont think kohaku revealed it before getting petrified so i think that will be revealed at a later time and when it happens there will be chaos
im not sure how strong moz is but im guessing hes around as strong as tsukasa or at least hyoga
hes clearly stronger than kohaku, kinro, ginro, magma, taiju, the entire gorilla team

this entire scene was very shocking, ginro almost died if not for getting petrified

things are gonna be more difficult with ginro and kohaku benched for the moment but as long as kaseki 2.0 is able to make a fidget spinner the kingdom of science will win

i bet ill cry again next episode

Great episode overall.

Kaseki is back on board after filling up his... hole thanks to Taiju's strength and durability and they already have a drone at bay. Good to know that fidget spinner weren't just a toy of its time and that you can make real science with them.

Menawhile, the truth about the village head comes out and Ibara is quick to impale Ginro fatally. Kohaku in an act of desperation during her fight with the menacing Moz is quick to reveal the truth only for her to actually incite the petrification artifact to be revealed and for Ginro to suspend his injuries for later in a hopeful recovery.

Oh, and last time I forgot to mention how charming the sand style ending sequence is. Quite the cool aesthetic and fitting for the show.

Onto de-petrifying Kaseki, a part of his back is missing, but that poop-like aspect is his signature while Taiju freedives into getting everyone's pieces together, always the capable stronghold. With that done, Kaseki is revived, and the drone creation can be started using the remains of the lab car, as everyone works tirelessly to advance everyone's revival...plus a rando. Most importantly, with the Kingdom of Science's craftsman, the comeback is going to bear fruit sooner or later.

While Kohaku gets confronted by the strongest warrior of Moz, Ginro goes straight to Ibara with the ethel acetate stored in a pineapple, and what Ibara worshipped as a petrified statue of what looked like Soyuz, and Ginro was scared shitless to escape, but within Ibara's clasps, he got outwitted to be stabbed by his claws, and that alone is a great deal of intelligence to be brought to Senki and everyone. And regardless, the actual petrification weapon, the Medusa is just sacrificial science.

Sacrifice for the greater good, Ginro and Kohaku, you have done a great deal. Now it's passing the torch to Senku to deal the rest.

@WalterBlack59 It'd be dumber if they did kill him off like that. It was already established since like season 1 that the petrification and revival fluid is like a type of miracle drug. So there were 0 reasons for not using it. Besides it's not like there were no consequences at all. Two members of Senku's spy team are now immobilized so they will probably need to devise a new plan.

Kinda dumb that this fluid is a powerful substance curing everything too.. I need to think less with this Anime and just enjoy 😂

Yeah it is kind of a bullshit mcguffin despite what Senku says. But it's something that's been established from the beginning so going against the established rule would be a bigger sin.

Dr. STONE is not "that" type of show. It is a bit disappointing cos I think it could've been amazing if the story took itself more seriously. But as it is it’s still entertaining.

So much to unpack in this episode: Kaseki revived, drone built, Koharu exposed, and finally a heroic moment for our kintoki. Now that the true face behind Medusa is revealed how will Senku react. Looking forward to the next one.

{Eerie chuckle amidst bunsen burners, whilst pouring strange liquids inside an erlenmeyer}

The curious scientist in me can hardly contain itself.

Also an fyi im getting tired of all these invisible ink title reveals anyone else? I mean science is so expanse so why only show us the same sad magician trick over and over.

Well, turns out my prediction from just before the end of the last season was only about 2 episodes off. I personally think this would've been a great point to end the previous season on, but I guess they wanted a more hopeful ending instead of a cliffhanger.

How in the world is Ibara supposed to do anything in terms of daily life with nails that long and sharp? Geez...

Man it’s just episode 2 and all this crazy shit is happening lol, but I guess the first half was really the buildup and this is all the intense stuff so it makes sense. And damn, Ginro really got got lol, that was kinda surprising and upsetting to see, I knew they could probably fix him by turning him to stone but still, and even then seeing beloved characters being turned to stone, even if only momentarily, really hurts to see, especially my beloved Kohaku lol. That was a very good moment tho, Kohaku and Ginro really are MVPs for all they’ve done not just in this episode, but this whole arc.

Kohaku’s fight with Moz was also cool, I’m glad she successfully peeved him because the dude was kinda insufferable lol. And we also learned some interesting new info this episode, the first being that the “master” is actually a statue himself and he looks kinda like Soyuz, not sure what’s up with that quite yet but it’s very intriguing. And lastly, we finally saw what’s turning people to stone, and while we don’t know exactly what it is, it definitely looks like a device with little circuits in it kinda like a motherboard, not surprising but it’s still very cool to see the mystery of the entire show firsthand, but what will be truly interesting is learning what it is exactly, definitely looking forward to that whenever that comes.
