The art is cool and the MC looks pretty dope with the artstyle of the author. But aside of that, the writing seems average at best. The sudden timeskip with little to no explanation.
The double panels are sick tho.

Enough time has passed, Kagura Bachi has been under the radar for far too long, for many it meant nothing but for me it formed my childhood. This might just be the single greatest piece of literature to grace the earth.

Decent start. Nothing too outstanding or unique yet but hey it's just chapter 1. I definitely can see this being popular though. I hope it's received well in japan because that's all that matters. If this does get popular see you guys in 4-10 years for MAPPA to pick this up.

I saw this randomly on a website I normally read manga on and gave it a try because it said shounen jump and was a first chapter. How could it even be hyped, if the chapter is not officially out and the mangaka is pretty much unknown. :D

Anyways, I think it was not bad for a start. I found the art a little mediocre at first, but it got a lot better to the end.

Storywise I found it a little confusing as it started off like it was a realistic story and about halfway in there was, pretty much without exposition, magic. So I am not exactly sure, if I got hooked by the storytelling.
The protagonist looked nice but I did not learn enough about him to really relate to him as a character.

What I liked most was the setting. The 1950s ? like vibe with the swordsmith theme and sorcery. It reminded me somehow a little of Gintama and Bleach.

3-4 (tending to 4) /5

@PentaDace Look at the kagura bachi subreddit and also look at u/stampyvs on reddit. This is basically morbius all over again.

fell in love with the dad character only to have my heart broken a few pages later. but I love that this chapter has already set up the promise of more - where did he get that scar? his father gave his life to make a sword - what was that sword for?

idk i feel like a lot of mangaka don't set up those lingering questions in their first chapters these days. I see a lot of "here's a few pages where we'll explain the world and its rules through dialog (aka text, text, and more text)" and then they just call it a day. I like that I'm being shown the story, and that dialog is used to reveal the characters, rather than to lazily set up the world. it's extremely refreshing.

I thin this could go somewhere! I've been keeping up with most of the new series (Do Retry, Ice-Head Gill, Kill Blue, ect), and this definitely has the strongest first chapter out of them all. I hope this is the next big success for Weekly Shounen Jump and the author!

Best series ever written. I don't think I hve ever seen, nor will I ever see something this beautiful. 10/10 doesn't do it justice. I am actually considering giving all other Anime/manga on my list a 1/10 rating to signify how much kagurabacha is above everything else.

Well, it started okay, the art looks cool too.

Quite edgy and angsty, which explains why there are teenagers around the internet overhyping this as the second coming of Christ, I guess.

I had that period in my life, so I won't judge, back then it was all about Elfen Lied and Gantz for that same reason.

Cannot tell anything about the story or characters just yet, just the action, let's see where it goes.

I mean, it's a decent start. It has pretty good paneling and I like the character designs so far. The art was a bit on the mediocre side at first, but it caught up in the second half of the chapter. I'm definitely excited to see where this goes.
