I think it's funny that they care to make a recap episode. So they made a summary of the summary ...

No, it was pretty bad. I may not have read the manga yet, but my god, this anime was so bad. The adventure is pretty boring, all their plans work out without any problems, and things happen for no reason. Not to mention the ending is the worst I've ever seen. If it weren't for the kids aging, I'd think they were only in that world for a few months or a year.

This just wasn't good.

It was bad enough for me to drop it around episode five and I don't drop many series (excluding those series I half-expect to drop going into, just watch one episode of to dip my feet in the water and get a taste, and don't even bother listing on my profile on MAL).

On the other hand, even the first season was only a 7/10 for me when I watched it back in 2020. Which is a good rating by MAL official standards and I also consider it a good rating and stamp of approval, but my point is that the series was never something I considered masterpiece-tier compared to some people. I think the first season was a very riveting watch, but also had a number of problems (for instance, I wasn't a fan of all the breakneck twists as they largely felt unearned and from nowhere).

It was very clear very early on that the second was going to turn out abysmal though. Everything about it felt rushed, shallow, and cheap from early in the season. The same exact reason I dropped Wonder Egg Priority around the exact same point in the season, less than halfway. Another modern CloverWorks production. It all does make me worried for the future of Shadows House too after the partially bungled end of the first season.

They abruptly ended it, this shows the manga illustrator had no further interest in developing the story, the anime should have been like 5 seasons.

To be honest, it is just bad on every possible aspect. It skipped, rushed, poorly connected parts of the manga and it was horrendous even if I don’t compare to s1 and the manga. Probably one of the worst animes I have watched if I only count this season. If you don’t care much about the plot, you will kinda enjoy it, but don’t forget that normally it could have been way way better than this abysmal season.
Reviewing is not easy.

I've never read the manga, and I admit the second season wasn't "that bad" but it just wasn't good either. Watching the second season, in my opinion, is a waste of time and the only reason I watched it was for the sake of completing the anime. Frankly, I should've just read the manga.

I think the reason so many people disliked/dropped the second season was because it was a different genre from the first season or, like me, they are manga readers and it is a poor adaptation. As an anime, it was rushed and had a number of plot holes in my opinion.

Yes. The first 2 episodes were ok, the rest was terrible. The pacing, the character development, the way it differs from the manga. The slideshow at the eND-
So yes, S2 was trash

Compared to the manga this was atrocious. What could’ve been the best season ever created was then turned into a rushed mess of a serious I’m disappointed but at least we got a second season :/

I didn't read the manga, but I completely understand the fact that skipping an arc can make the anime bad, especially if it involves leaving out (for what I've been told) a very crucial character as Yuugo. However, what makes this anime really bad, from an only-anime watcher perspective, is the Disney ending. What the fuck is that? And the ellipsis with pictures at the end was just terrible.

Agreed, the first eight episodes ranged from solid to just sort of dull, but the last three/the ending are straight up bad. Convenience after convenience, slideshows to show a season's worth of material, and absolutely none of the harshness and intrigue found in season one. Hard to believe a show about kids being raised on farms to be eaten would have such a toothless and easy resolution.
Are ya winning, diners?

No. If you haven't read the manga. It's not bad. Pacing seems a little fast. But, it's good. I gave a 7 of 10 having not read the manga yet.

People complained the manga had too much of a Disney ending, but I liked it for a big twist that was cut from the anime.

so what I'm seeing is mostly people thought s2 was good except for the slideshow in the last episode which I also thought was weird, but if you read the manga that's what the 5.5 star was. I get that. I feel like they should have skipped the slide show and just made a 3rd season it sounds like they had enough to do that I would have watched a third season
