| What a fantastic start! I'm hooked already. The only hitch was the English but once they dropped that and went full Japanese, everything was perfect. Absolutely love the art style. |

| First look did give me Tiger & Bunny vibes. Always a treat to watch a show about con artists. Usually they're villainous or just for comedic relief, this one feels like they'll get all the cherries on top. Very excited! |
| Mixed feelings from episode 1 and 2. (Though later in episode 2 it got better.) For episode 1 I liked the cool (french?) guy that went to the US. And the setting with the main and how he tricked the old lady. But then it suddenly felt rushed with the watch and him remembering something and running away. I woulw have liked that a bit slower. Guess they needed "action" in the episode. |
| These are the type of series that the anime industry needs to start adapting! Every season, we get the regular shounens, isekais, moes, sports, idols, etc. series and honestly, they're trite and rarely engaging. This is right up my alley. I enjoyed the episode from start to finish. I remember seeing the trailer and was immediately sold. This was probably one of my most anticipated series for 2020. |

| This was great. The characters so far are interesting, the colors were bright and refreshing, and it seems to be a good introduction to the series. I don’t know what to expect at all for following episodes, and I kinda love that! Great outro choice as well, and overall good soundtrack. I also like how Laurent was introduced speaking English to make it clear that he's foreign and doesn't speak japanese, but switched back to Japanese as to not inconvenience the Japanese viewers. Also, I was pleasantly surprised by the french accent and not just, well, "engrish even though hes not japanese". Looking foward to watching the next few episodes that are out! |

| This is brilliant! I get it why Wit wanted to make something different and this is very different from their usual stuff. Lots and lots of colours, a very different style, rather light-hearted, jazzy and cool. This is great because it is different yet interesting. Hope the rest is also great! |
| A powerful start for a very promising original anime. I loved everything about it and I'm eager for the next episodes and "mini arcs" (one per city). By the way, the design of the characters' faces -more specifically the way their mouths/lips curl and "pinch" at the edges, and the design of the eyes- looked familiar to me but I couldn't place where I last saw that style. After watching the second episode I finally got it : it was in Zankyou no Terror (Terror in Resonance), another original anime made by MAPPA. Not all its characters either; as far as I recall only Twelve was designed that way. Thiery Laurent in particular looks like a blond foreigner version of Twelve. |

| Thats scene where she takes the pills is hilarious. I really that don't think that would fool anyone who's ever been around someone who's done drugs. Makes me think the directors and japan in general really has a twisted view on it. Then again, it is really hard to illustrate someone being high and not make it boring so I think its fine. |

| This might be the best first episode I've seen all year so far. Part of that just shows how shitty this year has been for anime and another shows how good this first episode was. To call it a potential AOTY contender might be much solely on the basis of one episode but idk Fall season seem like it won't have any potential contenders to offer with To Your Eternity delayed. I made the right decision in waiting to watch this till we got a release time for the remaining eps from Netflix, 10 more days till the rest is released. |
| Makoto was being scammed from the very start by the old woman, the old man and Laurent hahahahaha. -I suspected that something strange happened when the old man 'hid' from the police in that place. That explian why Makoto could flee from the country to USA without an arrest warrant or capture order considering that the USA has very strict measures to enter the country. All of this was ignored cuz the police was fake from the start! Also, that explain how Laurent and Makoto met again just in that moment! -Abigail obviously faked the effects because she works for Laurent if im right. If the other girls got their hands on it they'd find out it was just candy so he needs that Makoto cause a scene telling him the truth on him by making him notice Laurent is wearing the same watch that his partner and the old lady have on lmao. The first episode was better than I expected! |

| Ok scamming Edamura from the start to be with Laurent was really interesting. Wonder what Laurent’s purpose why he drag Edamura on this. And Abby looks stunning. Overall first episode is a good build up. Animation is unique and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. And damn that ED song is unexpected, I will have a hard time skipping it lol. |

| Rewatching Great Pretender now, giving it a 2nd chance with a fresh mind and the ability to binge it instead of watching it weekly, plus I'm seeing it this time in the dubbed format too to fit the more international/western feel this show provides. Originally gave it a 3-4. I have to say, the first episode this time around was a lot more enjoyable compared to the last time I saw this. I liked how the show had the Japanese segment early on in Japanese itself, and then when Makoto met Laurent, they spoke with each other in broken English (Makoto being Japanese and Laurent being a foreigner but not having a clear accent with his English), before the self-insert joke that the creators used to 'present the following in English for convenience sake'. It was pretty creative and I love how the languages situation was handled here compared to a lot of other anime, in Japanese and in English. The mix was refreshing before they turned it all to English while breaking the fourth wall. Regarding the actual case itself, we still haven't gotten to the meat of the case but just scratched the surface with introducing Laurent, Makoto and Abigail. The episode was progressing a bit blindly, with Makoto just following Laurent to LA just because with no real reason but wanting his money back, and that event led to other events, etc. But at least they made the episode entertaining at least and Abigail being high and jump around everywhere was fun too. She doesn't quite have the personality to talk but she has her charming moments already, especially with the crane kick that had 'Karate Kid' written all over it. I like Abigail so far despite the timid personality, and Makoto and Laurent seem good too so far. The visuals look great as well. The backgrounds and frames oozed personality, color and life, the character designs look damn good and the amount of passion that went into putting as much detail as possible with the scenery and the choreography was great. Even the addition of many pop-culture references to bring out that charm in it is clever. Fits the LA/Hollywood setting seeing hip-hop music used as soundtracks for the show, and movie culture references being referenced as well. I had a mixed opinion on the start and declined after, but with this watch this time, I enjoyed this a lot more. Maybe it does help after seeing something like Jormungand. But now I'm excited to see how the rest turns out with a binge format and a refreshed mind. Also, love that Freddie Mercury song again. I've heard it for such a long time now but never gets old with me. Ages like fine wine, and the reference with the Great Pretender curtain that was used in the actual Freddie Mercury music video being used for the ED is a great tribute to one of the biggest legends and figures in the music industry. |

| Well this was a refreshing one. Dunno why MC ran away at the end, though i guess it was because the american got his friend's watch. The Abby scheme was kinda obvious. What I didn't expect was the cats singing at the end(Was it really done by Freddie Mercury? Damn. Lol the BL shipping in this episode.  And this painting lol. Its like the animators didn't care.  Funny cats ed. Dunno why they chose cats. But why not.  I agree with the mob producer saying Hollywood has gone into a slump. The script has been going down the drain these days, with Star wars sequels and GOT and what not. MC got some mad skills in escaping really. But looks like he is gonna have to become the secretary for the American. Thank god they just stopped with the pretentious english dialogue. |

| Pretty weak start, was tired from such generic episode in the end. I hope it will be better but I bet nothing will change and this anime will be full of clichés and predictable "genius" moves. Style is nothing special, music is garbage so far. |
| i love how they used the colours, the art style is amazing and the character designs are really nice. there still is a little part of me that wishes that mc continued to speak in broken english to make the immersion better. i aboslutely love the fact that freddie mercury's "The Great Pretender" is the ed, it's fucking fantastic. |
