It either means:
- Humanity eradicated all superhumans because they were not able to control them. (which should be very thorough genocide to remove any sort of latent genes that even make it possible)
or
- Something else eradicated all humans because they were not able to control superhumans. (like the gas things)

It can go either way, but it pretty much paints a pretty grim future.

I don't think that Jaguar used the fact that he is an animal to try to explain lack of superhumans. I think it's the other way round, meaning: "There are no superhuman in the future, so I have to be an animal".

And also before that Jaguar asked Kikko if she thinks that human with animal features or animal with human features would be more obedient creature? Obedient to who? So obviously it's not scenerio where animals took over the world and eradicated humanity. Someone clearly created creatures similar to Jaguar and wanted them to be obedient.

Also Jaguar says that "potential to become superhuman was taken away from humanity" meaning that humanity still exists (i.e. humans are alive), but are unable to become "superhumans".

Also the 1st (Time patrol) Jaguar called himself "Super Jaguar".

Therefore my theory is that:

We see throughout the show the battle between people that try to control superhumans and people that want superhumans to be free. I think by 25th century humans realised that superhumans can never be properly controlled, as they are still basically humans though different. Therefore they are not obedient (That's where Jaguar was going with his conversation about animals with Kikko). Therefore the superhumans were eradicated and the potential to become "super" was taken from other humans (only God knows how, this was not explained). However the gooverment/military is always greedy and still wants to use superpowers, so instead the super animals are created (for exampl Super Jaguar), because animals are thought to be more obedient (i.e. the "creators" wanted to basically train super animals like dogs).

But, if any possibilities of becoming Supermans is eradicated, then why is it that at the end of the credits, before the preview, there is a scene of Jaguar returning to the 25th century and asking the woman if he was now considered a "superman"?

Perhaps everyone in the future is a "superhuman"-maybe by creation through the animal modifications-, but they are told that what they are is "normal", and so, after Juguar travels to the past and sees the difference between humans and superhumans, he now knows and therefore ?is? a superhuman.

Maybe it's not all humanity that is extinct, but just regular humans?

The future the youngest jaguar went to - its meant to show that he is repeating the cycle. Just like the other versions, he came back and is asking in order to check if the future changed. IF there are still no superhumans in that future, this third jaguar will go in the footsteps of the other two, doing something to try to change it.

Oh I just noticed that our time traveller's name is Hyouma. Nice reference. Then that Gundam-style death with a beam into the old man's head. And the whole thing with crows is supposed to be like in Kitaro?

To be honest the ideas expressed by Jiro and Jaguar here were reeeeeally strange at times. "Will eliminating evil really change history?? It's so childish". What? Yes it will, what kind of nonsense is this.

I wonder who came up with the idea of using ninjas with helmets. Also, a brief flash of the Soviet flag - so not much seems to be different geopolitically aside from Japan still being an Empire. That scene also implied that IQ was coordinating with several governments, so maybe it wasn't all that independent.
