OnS truly is an amazing anime!
I can't wait for Yuu and Mika meeting, I wonder how will it be...
Characters are really well made and it's pretty fast peaced actually so it's not boring like some animes.

Finally got around to watching the episode and I must say that it was lovely

The way they added some additional scenes during the episode worked really well and the art and animation during the scenes whenever the Sacred Gears were involved looked really good -I especially liked the part when Yuu kneed that guy in the face and took the axe

The one thing that I was hoping for was that the whole "We are pro everyone having sex" bit to re main in tact, and my goodness they did that scene justice lol....Shinoa is just perfection and her extended fight scene with Yuu made her look even more fabulous >//< Best girl has struck again

Furthermore, we got to see the truth behind the school and about the demons and the contracts etc which should hopefully show people that this series won't have the typical school cliche.....But speaking of school, dat confession in the beginning...Yuu's getting all the girls xD

Really liked seeing him overcome that demon and I remember someone saying that Yuu is a noob but in actuality even Shinoa acknowledged that he has superior combat skills (Which was pretty evident if you actually paid attention to the fight in the last episode), so there you go

And as I said earlier, I was happy to see that they showed Mika :DDD Judging by the PV we're going to get 2 chapters in the next episode and personally I loved them when I read it so I'm excited to see how the anime handles it :)

*Yuu is annoying, I'll be honest here. I mean in some way, he's the contrary of the "POWER OF FRIENDSHIIIP" cliché that everyone else is pushing onto him, but on the other hand he seems annoyingly overpowered, stubborn, rude and frivolous.
I hope he'll get some development..

*Glad that confession didn't have any deeper meaning (yet?). What we don't need is a random damsel-in-distress love interest.

*MIKA TIME NEXT EPISODE, most likeable character so far imo, I'm hyped.

How did they even get that demon trapped underground in the first place? How did humans figure out making contracts with it will give them weapons to fight vampires? If majority of them were wiped by that disease and another majority were killed by those random giant monsters, how did they organize themselves in a way where they could defeat such unprecedented challenges and have this special anti vampire unit?

those are good questions, most gets explained later, some remains not clear, for the not clear ones there is only speculation

well the anime adaptation is going by around 1 chapter for each episode so far, so the original material had the same pace, but considering these are all introductive episodes it shouldn't be a bad thing to see the intro move fast

Was pretty predictable that Mika would become a vampire imo. I think Yuu will get a cursed sword since an axe does not seem to suit him at all.

Still not very fond of the OP and ED, especially the former. That plot armor though from Yu saving him from the denizens of darkness. Why did I feel no urgency in all of the hallucination scene?

"Oh no, Mika is a vampire!" Said no one ever. He's shown as a rival in the fucking opening and he's playing such a prominent role in MC's development, there was practically no damn way he'd leave the picture that easily after episode 1

I'm afraid I'm having difficulty taking this show seriously. I'm just in it for the train-wreck now.

Shinoa (smug-face) sucks too. She has the worst voice actor of the entire season.

I approve Shinoa's way of thinking. That's quite a progressive proposal.

Mock battle part was pretty cool, especially Shinoa's scythe movements. Yuu got owned even when she was going easy.

Vampire Mika looks 3X times more epic than the current Yuu. Did Ferid help him survive though?

Decent episode. Looking forward to Yuu receiving his cursed gear from Guren soon.

Fantastic episode, truly. This episode solved nearly every aspect I disliked about the previous episode. The presence of a school in this world? Solved. Why Yoichi was accepted into the unit? Solved. Why Yu was being held out of the unit for so long (despite clearly being a bad-ass)? Solved.
Shinoa is an awesome character so far. Playful and teasing, and a bad-ass in her own right. xD

I liked that Yu's drive for revenge is not actually a handicap for him. Had me worried that it would an inhibitor, very happy that it's not.
They are clearly spelling out Yu's development though. He will clearly have to develop teamwork, and will have to let others get close to him again. Can't wait to see his reaction to Mika's pseudo-surival (are Vampires considered alive like humans?) and apparent betrayal to their family.
Very solid, 5/5

I didn't read manga but I'll give it a guess.
Vampires can't die from normal weapons so he stayed alive. He could finish off Mikaela but he probably thought it would be more fun if he turn Mikaela into the vampire (and Mikaela was still breathing when Yuu left him) so...yeah..I think that's what happened...

Great episode, slower than the previous ones, but still had a good animation in the struggle between Yuuichirou and Shinoa, and showed a good development for the plot finally will start the training and the demons will appear

I like the personality strong and determined of Yuu, also like the expressions and the way of speaking of Shinoa, well, I look forward to continue followed the anime, which in my opinion is being well adapted ..

I'm annoyed by Yuu... can't help thinking he's another one of those hot-blooded protagonists who just rush into things without listening to reason and disregarding logic but somehow turns out alright because... oh, I dunno, they're special and have a strong will for their cause or some BS like that...

I hope he learns his lesson in the future and something horrible happens as a consequence of his selfish actions and his disregard for teamwork... maybe he'll turn over a new leaf, then I could like him... probably...

Protagonist aside, well.. Shinao's pretty cool... felt her scene was somewhat ruined by the inappropriate music when she was declaring the beauty of illicit sexual relationships.

As for Yoichi, hope he mans up soon... He has a decent backstory but his pathetic side is a pain to watch atm...

And now, Mika... I like him. Well, it was no secret he was alive cos of the OP... However, I do wonder... How'd he reattach his arm?... I kinda hoped he'd be one-armed... would be cool to have a one-armed villain... but, I can't be sure... OP seems to show him with 2 arms in one scene, but he's always with a goddamn cloak... -_-...

He sounds like a potentially great character, (I liked him as a child, far more than Yuu, who was an idiot) so I hope his reason for being on the vampire's side (which I suspect he's on) won't be something lame... Though, I'm getting some creepy feels frm that Noble Vampire's words abt Mika's angels being found... xp... I suspect he's gonna try turning Yuu into a vampire so they can be together (ugh...)...
The most annoying thing about some anime is that they don't know when they've died...

I see where you're coming from, but I disagree. He rushed into the fight with the vampire (2nd episode) to try and help. People were dying, and he was the only one in the area that could fight. If he thought he could kill her, it was more ignorance than a disregard for logic. With the Demon, a bit more accurate. But it was suspected the demon would feed off revenge as a negative emotion, but Yu seems to have control over it. It didn't feel like he just had a strong will, but rather he knew how to correctly utilize his emotions.

Gaining teamwork and losing his complete "I can do it myself" attitude is likely going to be the crux of his development and overcoming his past. He lost his entire family in a tragic accident, keeping people at a distance is how he can prevent loved ones from dying. I just like the fact that he has the skills to back up his loner attitude. Can't deny his combat skill.

I agree with you about episode 2. If Yuu didn't step up, there would have been a lot more casualties. He turned the vampires attention from the student body to himself. Gurren even said that.

There is potential character development with Yuu. I understand where he is coming from. Watching your entire "family" getting slaughtered like that is traumatizing. Hopefully he will get over his "I don't need a team attitude" soon.

Slighly Off-topic: I'm not sure what kind of MC anime viewers want. I see complain for every type of MC out there. I guess you can't please everyone.

Exactly.

You'll never be able to please everyone. I personally am just content to see a fairly competent MC. He has skills, and isn't a complete pansy, and doesn't overreact to the death of every person in the universe. I just like Yuu because he isn't the standard Shonen protagonist so far. The whole "slaughter them all" is not original, but he doesn't have the "power of family and/or friendship" crap.

Oh, I didn't really mind his actions in episode 2. I will admit I was annoyed by his motivations in ep 2 (he was fighting the vampire more to gain recognition in Guren's eyes instead of fighting bcos it was the right thing to do), but I wasn't as annoyed as in this episode.

Shinoa had repeatedly told him that it was essential to learn teamwork, and here he goes and rushes off to get an axe with barely any plan when the situation wasn't crucial and with the selfish motive of just getting a weapon to fight vampires ASAP when he would've gotten one eventually anyway... I mean, yeah, I guess there's no denying his combat side is pretty amazing, but there was certainly no guarantee that he would have the capacity to control his emotions against the demon... hell, it could've ended up being disastrous if he lost control (a demon with his combat ability)...

But don't get me wrong, I don't hate Yuu. I think he can become a good character, and I hope he develops. I don't take it as a negative point that that I'm currently annoyed with Yuu... I acknowledge some good characters dont always start off as the most likable ppl ever.

I'm just currently quite annoyed with his attitude and how he's gotten away with some of the things he's done so far (admittedly, nothing major yet, but still...)...-_-... so I HOPE he changes soon... how that development plays out will likely affect how much I will eventually like his character...
The most annoying thing about some anime is that they don't know when they've died...
