She is bitchslapping over and over, gotta love Ueno
(I like Nishi, but fuck she had like 1000 reasons to commit suicide in the past, when no one cared about her, wtf was she thinking now? That she could solve something for her friend? dfq)

This chapter was very intense, I still don't understand Ueno.

Why Nishimiya's mother act surprised when Yuzuru tells Ishida's mother that Shoko attempted suicide?

I think she was reacting to her saying that it was because of her mismanagement.

Perhaps he hit his shoulder on the balcony on the way down? Hard to say...

God damn...

I only wish there was a better translation.

I'm curious... How do you know the translation isn't good? I mean... If you can read Japanese and know that it is mistranslated, that is one thing. But if that's the case, why do you care? If you can't read Japanese, how do you know that the translation isn't good?

Oh... Are you just bashing Crunchyroll? Is that it? (Or do you read scanilations?)

I thought this chapter was excellent! So many emotions and so much anger!

Up until about 4-5 days ago the only translation available had very poor editing, wasn't cleaned and wasn't proofread. Either that, or whoever translated it didn't have very good command over the English language, because it didn't read very well.

I'm assuming that's the translation that KazolOrajia is talking about. Whether the translation was accurate or not is irrelevant under those circumstances if the translated dialogue isn't edited to where it makes sense in English.
Matsuoka Yoshitsugu has hardly any range as a voice actor, and is grossly over-cast.

Yeah. I said it.

The whole time i was waiting for Yuzuru to jump in, i'm a bit surprised because she always protected her sister... she must have some feelings that didn't let her stop Ueno right away. Can't wait for the next chapter!

It's like Yuzuru said. "Should I have stopped it?" or something similar.

I mean, I think Ueno is nonsensical and wrong nearly all the time as well but her bitchslapping and calling Shouko out was understandable. More than that, it was justified entirely. Shouko was at fault 100% and while it may be pushing it to use that method of intervention on a suicide risk... She deserved it. If she killed herself after the beatdown it would just show what kind of weak-willed trash she really was. If she moves on and realizes her mistakes(Like it seems) then it was for the best.

The mother beating Ueno down was also justified. It's natural to protect your child.

I feel like most people would be like "Glad he knocked some sense in to him." if Ueno/Shouko's gender were reversed or if Ueno was a more positive character.

Woah, Ueno beat the shit out of Nishimiya. Wasn't expecting her to go that far. I wonder if she'll start fighting the mother now, haha.

Weak-willed trash? You are getting the wrong kind of satisfaction from this manga, dude.
You must have some kind of warped mind to think that the way Ueno went to town on Shouko was okay. At all. First of all, flip the genders if you want... I'll still see a bully and a person that needs help. I can see waking a person up to foolish decisions through intimidation, that's okay. But shouting at them, berating them and beating them up? When they're suicidal? You can just leave or go get locked up in that case. And especially because it was Ueno. There's a history between these two girls. If anyone was to talk to Shouko, it wasn't up to her. She should've kept her mouth shut, however upset she might be that her unrequited love got hurt. Which by the way, was not 100% Shouko's fault. He didn't have to save her. She wouldn't have wanted to kill herself if the world wasn't constantly telling her that her existence was purposeless and annoying. The mother slapping Ueno was justified, because Ueno needed to be stopped, and receive some kind of consequence for acting like an egotistical, fist-throwing twat.

I'm thinking who saved Shouya in the river, I'm guessing Mashiba or his old teacher.

I thought Shouko's mom will slap Shouya's mom or something, because she walked so fast.

That Ueno bitch, learn some lesson.
Aww Yuzuru crying, I thought she will defend Shouko, but instead her mom. Thanks for the slap, I think she deserved more than that. Shouko's mom showed that she is really protecting her daughter.

So much feeling in this chapter. I wanna see how they animate this scene in the anime, can't wait to watch it.

I would like Ueno to stay by her side during the post suicide attempt. It would lessen the disgust I have for her, sure she makes sense, but you can't pick Nishimiya by the hair like that.
Her dialogue about the letter seemed pretty important, I'm going to re-read that part.

As much as Ueno takes it really far, her anger is really justified here. Her childhood crush was severely injured trying to save Nishimiya, one that Ueno believes is getting closer to Shouya. I guess why the mom didn't put much of a fight.

Okay, this chapter made me officially hate Ueno. Seriously, girl? You straight up attack and assault a girl at the lowest point in her life, blaming her for something that was never her fault at all, and then have the gall to claim that SHE didn't think about YOUR feelings? God, why hasn't anyone called the police on this bitch yet?! You'd think this would be the moment where, 1. Ueno FINALLY learns the error of her ways and makes some attempt to atone for everything she did, or 2. If she doesn't do that, then at LEAST TRY to be there for Shouko and be somewhat civil to her in light of what's happened! Besides, Ueno's one of the main reasons Shouko tried to kill herself in the first place! But she beats her up, victim blames her, and claims Shouko had some malicious ulterior motive behind it, calling her "playing the tragic heroine?" Girl, you need some serious disciplinary action taken against you. Ueno, you lost your chance with Shouya the second you tried to bully Shouko right in front of him! Take the hint and quit being the bitchiest bitch that ever bitched! She's a straight up sociopath who needs to be in jail...which makes me even angrier upon reading the final chapter.

I understand Ueno's reasons, but I can't forgive her response. The second half of this chapter was so brutal that it was kind of hard to read. All that punching, slapping, kicking, humiliating. All this to someone who just attempted to commit suicide. Sometimes I like Ueno, but it's like most of the time I don't. She's selfish, violent, temperamental, egotistical, and a bully.

The way she treated Shoko... the way she just held Shoko's hair like it was trash... That was horrible. I HATE seeing that. It feels like I want to slap her and get some sense into her. Hitting, kicking, and doing all that to Shoko won't bring Ishida back at the moment so why the hell do it? Venting your anger? Justifiable, but not this. Not this. This chapter made me real angry.

God I'm going to call this the catfight chapter.

I never expected subtlety or empathy from Naoka, so her reaction doesn't surprise me. She probably would've thrown a party had Shouko's attempt succeeded.

I'm not on board with the whole "well Ueno has a valid point". In the simplest terms, they bullied her and that is no moral justification for that. Ok, even if she has other flaws that's not her deafness, it doesn't give you the right to actively make a person's life a living hell. If you hate the person, just leave her alone.

I was so happy when the mom showed up. It was kind of nice getting to see her slap someone who deserved it.

While I really like seeing Ishida as a protagonist, I feel like the story has gotten so interesting without him in the picture and just seeing how everyone is reacting to the situation. It’s just interesting seeing how much of an impact he’s really had on so many peoples lives.
