Finally, this shit is over, the cringe with this anime, the moment they introduced that pseudo-gender-bender-gay shit this anime turned into garbage, they focused on that shit way too much for my taste and made me cringe... A LOT, not everything was bad in this anime, I somewhat enjoyed the other part of the story with those children with superpower in the school, that part was alright at least I guess, but the other part with Kiruko and Maru and the gender bender gay relationship shit was pretty bad, and don't even get me started on that rape scene in episode 12.

The best episode of the whole damn show was that episode with that doctor who killed himself with the gun at the end, that episode was nice, the rest of the episode was very mediocre with a bit of good here and there with the children with superpowers but not by much, while watching this anime I got to a point where I got bored and just wanted to finish it and when I start to feel this way watching an anime then they fucked up.

Anyway, this shit is over and I won't miss it, I wouldn't give a rat's ass about a 2nd season.

4/10

I am not sure if ithe last ep was on a cliffhanger but I loved it. The ending and the fight with Maru and Robin was epic! I'm hoping of seeing a second season of Tengoku Daimakyou. The Anime is 10/10 for me because the story and the jokes in it is just amazing. Expressions and feelings also effected me while watching so I had a blast watching it.
I really recommend every Anime fan to watch it.

Good finale, I just wonder what was the purpose of that rape scene? they acted like nothing happened and Rubin wasn't even killed :/

The same as the purpose of any other non-rape scene - To show one character's true nature, motives, and personality; and to change another character's, in this case a main character's (or two main characters') relationship with them forever.

This was actually a very solid atmospheric sci-fi. Both the story and the direction were great. I loved how each episode actually ended up with my wanting to know what the f was actually happening with their world. The parallel between the present and the past that were shown at the same time—sometimes the transition was abrupt, but it felt natural that it was actually quite cool. It didn't just spoon-feed the information to the audiences so easily either, which gave the audience a time to think about the world.

Kinda surprised that a series this good is only getting an 8.2 on MAL, seeing how anime like Yakusoku no Neverland can get an 8.5 (and was higher when it first ended). I'll definitely read the manga when it ends

That show was so damn good. It really felt like The Last of Us with more supernatural content, bit still focused on the human aspect of the story. The second storyline was more like Promised Neverland meets Darling in the Franxx. Aside from a few minor flaws, this was a show I could enjoy to the fullest!

Just finished. The series has been intriguing so far. Then the rape scene. It really upsets me. Then they reveal that "Doctor" Ushami is Shiro? (they share the same voice actor right in the anime overview page!! spoilers?!) Then I realized that the girl with Ushami is Mimihime and the reason she had bandage over her head is because her "mimi" was...

A lot of questions about the origins/story remain. This series should have had themes like Psychological/Tragedy added. I jumped in this series since I thought it was an high-rated adventure/mystery, but now it is going towards Shinsekai Yori.

The OP song "innocent arrogance" becomes dark.

The Final Episode!

Robin deserved it, all of it. Trying to make Kiruko a lifeless husk like whatever he had locked away in that room.
I was wrong about Tokio, she also has a maneater ability. Maybe only people born before 15 years ago don't have one.
There were some funny moments with the kids who go out. "The outside of the outside of the outside" so silly.

Surprising ending, I was expecting something more, like maybe Kiruko and Maru go find the Heaven facility. But maybe that's somewhere else entirely.
Also the post credit sequence of what I presume to be one of the next parts where the heaven kids find out more about outside the outside.

Very very good show, may continue to review episodes but might just stick to watching them and rating them.

Amazing, simply too wonderful for its released year, nobody spoke about it but its different from the other post apocalyptic genre.

These last few episodes were so hard to watch, not because thet are bad, but because the anime isnt trying to censor things which I find a bold but very good move. That guy tho deserved the beating.

The destination where the kids are headed in the end looks so different. This does not look like the places that Maru has visited or the scenary that we know. Probably a secret society or a secret advanced island... ?

So I just watched Ep 13 of this show and I have got to ask. WTF did I just see. At the final scene before the ending song we see the real sister attached to a weird spider man eater thing. WHAT!? And also this mean that Inazaki had the main character’s sister all along.

@mal_user_2022 The Heaven stuff is in the past. Maru is Tokio's son and the Heaven kids turned into Hiruko/Man-Eaters. So all the Heaven stuff is at least 15 years ago. Maybe manga readers know something I don't but that seems to be the self-evident explanation.

I suppose with the amount of manga chapters and anime episodes they had to pick something to be the climax. I think every episode of this show is excellent so I'm not disappointed with the finale but its kind of funny that the dramatic "conclusion" to the hunt for Inazaki is "oh yeah, he raped me a bunch and then Maru kicked the shit out of him. Also human experimentation! See you, bye bye!" This isn't a story with clear arcs so I doubt there was a better place to stop. I wonder how long season 2 will take.

All in all, this is probably the better version of Tengoku Daimakyou. While is loses some scenes & dialogue exchanges to fit into its cour length, the staff at Production I.G. had a keen grasp on scene direction. The anime conveys the emotional goal better than the manga at times, no small part thanks to the excellent sound direction and music by Kensuke Ushio (best known for his work on Ping Pong: The Animation and Devilman Crybaby).

The sordid reception to the chapter of Spike Spiegel raping Kiruko was less severe for the anime than the manga, which is an example of how competent the scene direction is. While the plot points are 1-to-1, there's a lot of anime original flourishes. For example, Robin getting beat within an inch of his life is an anime original. This section in general focuses relatively more on the characters than the plot, which was the correct call. The entire thing is retarded for the sake of shock value, pooping on two characters to stand out. It's inane that Kiruko stopped Maru from killing Spike Spiegel, because...? Spike Spiegel is a just an evil man. The world would be objectively better without him terrorising it. Maru already killed Minehime anyway via euthanasia, so... yeah... just kill Spike Spiegel. "Don't kill hurr durr" was one of the many reasons this part of the manga was poorly received.

The anime chooses to end this on a cliffhanger, which is sort of how the manga did, but they went about it in completely different ways. The ways the manga did it were excluded from the anime. The anime choose Tokio protecting her baby and the other children seeing a city landscape for the first time as the cliff hanger, when neither were cliffhangers in the manga. The anime intertwines the dual narrative more than the manga does. The events of the Heaven story in Episodes 12, 13, and beyond are told mostly uninterrupted by Kiruko & Maru in the manga.

It's unfortunate the anime adaptation ended on the low point of Tengoku Daimakyou's narrative (in terms of quality). It did salvage some of this part, of Kiruko finally completing one of her main goals of the past 5 years. But it's otherwise pretty good. Production I.G.'s animation, backgrounds, soundscape, ect... are truly phenomenal, and elevate Tengoku Daimaykyou to new heights it didn't reach in its original form. Very much hopeful & optimistic for a season 2. The main duo travelling a gorgeously drawn post-apocalyptic setting together, commenting on basic survival, being fascinating by the world before, fighting Hiruko, slowly unravelling the mystery of the plot, their own hearts, and growing inseparable is such an enjoyable story.

Just finished watching this and I generally really enjoyed it, but the last 2 episodes kind of upset me.
Sure, the series is exploring sexuality and stuff, but of course it just had to throw in a fucking rape scene. And afterwards it just gets brushed off along the lines of "oh well, can't be depressed forever", and then we get happy music at the end as if everything is just fine. Talk about tonal whiplash... Just feels like poor taste.
