This read was dope af, unbelievable how I followed a Hajiman+Yagami MC, to him transforming into a well developed Thorfinn (both very much likable MCs).
10/10 narration just like Chikan Otoko, even at predictable moments this was an emotional rollercoaster and I didn't actually expect Kurosawa to redeem himself.
It's surprising how forgiving everyone are towards Kitahara.. just because she was suicidal? I still think she's a mentally ill bitch who had better ways of defending herself rather than relying on Kurosawa. If I were in Kurosawa's shoes, I'd at least put some blame on Kitihara who blackmailed Kurosawa despite actually helping her, that way, the victims wouldn't solely think Kurosawa's reasoning was "horny teen mhm cum monster". - But again, this probably suggests character development by taking all the flame to yourself since what you did was messed up.
Kitahara's character and backstory definitely lacks depth, can't blame some readers for being upset over Kitahara's bullying incidents ending up unaddressed (oh and the irony that Kurosawa ended up with one of her bully XD). Going back, the arc with Kitahara being upset over Takigawa dating Nagaoka (who she liked) still left a bad taste in my mouth, Kurosawa was a victim for being blackmailed into CUMMING on Takigawa's belongings, all because Kitahara wasn't brave enough to make a move on Nagaoka.
finished it in 2 days last night and wow, this is real fiction man. so glad i read it, i think it's a top 2 coming-of-age story for me now.
kurosawa that horny light yagami, lelouch lookin ass has one of the best character developments i've ever seen. i can't even imagine wanking in the girl's washroom but this guys on the next level lol, he came a long (lol) way in 31 chapters. never thought a manga about masturbation could resonate with me so much. i felt it when he first saw takikawa and nagaoka together in chapter 17. kinda sad that he doesn't get with takigawa in the end, but also kinda glad because it's the real way to go about. shit doesn't go how you want in life, it is what it is and the outcome is very reasonable.
glad my boy found a place in sugawa, she's a tsun-stun-baka! and i do like that trope lol. they're cute together and i kinda wish there was more of kurosawa and sugawa to make the ending even sweeter but the manga achieved it's goal and didn't overstay it's welcome so we'll take it. great ending as it is; kuroasawa, sugawa, takigawa, kitahara all have great conclusions, 9/10 overall for me. i'll remember this manga about wanking for years to come.
These are the things that come to mind after reading this manga. I loved the story. My feelings of excitement and despair kept fluctuating throughout the manga. Still tho, I'm glad I read this manga.
I gave it 1/10 even after Kurosawa has managed to change and became a new person, and even after the slightly satisfying end (or it's not at all, Idk). It's because what happened in ch. 17 which made me say "really? you are fkin kidding me". What happened in that chapter was the worst and stupidest plot twist I've ever experienced. Next is a spoiler from the manga:
The endless pain I got from this manga is when the author decided to make the pair (Nagaoka X Takigawa) Idk how or why he did that, it doesn't fkin make any sense in the slightest, it's as Kurosawa said "No matter how you see it, Takigawa isn't appropriate to Nagaoka", it reminds me of Jean X Mikasa pair, LOL. ِAnd for that hooker Takigawa, why did he make her throw messages and hints everywhere around Kurosawa that she might have liked him; from that statements about he's being the only boy she talked to about these things and the possibility of he's being her soulmate, to watching a movie and having dinner with him, to spending all the time with him in the library, etc. She won't run with a guy and do all of these things without liking him even a bit. Again, it doesn't make any damn sense. oh man that was really got me and made me angry.
The moment I saw her smiling when he went to the convenient store I thought "you poor Kurosawa, it's clear as day that she found a boyfriend" and slightly got sad cuz I was still thinking of them as a possible pair. That stupid plot twist, deceiving readers like that, yes it's deceiving, it won't make you look smart. There is no just a reasonable reason to combine them together she spent more time with Kurosawa than him. He was gentle and attending same cram school? wtf was that, you can say the same with Kurosawa.
And what about soulmate part and sharing most time in the library with him? this is why I said he deceived us. He didn't provide enough or rational reasons to make them together. If she found a random guy as her boyfriend, if he's a guy from her neighborhood or a childhood friend who shares same interests, it will be kinda reasonable (even if it's still considered a painful in either way, as everything was referring that she likes Kurosawa). But silly face Nagaoka? Why? based on what? Just nothing.
In addition to that, what made my rage increase even bigger is that he didn't make Kurosawa explains himself, like no one asked him why he did that even the teachers didn't care, at least it was a good chance to stop bullies. Even Takigawa who considered him a close friend didn't ask why. At least make him confess his feelings to her so that she will have an idea why the f he did this shameful thing, as his close friend she will reflect on that and maybe forgive him (burying his feeling forever like that, OMG). I mean give her even a stupid reason for it she will forgive him, she forgave him just because he confessed in front of all students and was changing, really?
And what about that Nagaoka, will he really forgive him out of nowhere. What, are you an cuckold? The author kept giving us stupid reasons to like Nagaoka, he is a nice person always lending a hand for others (even for those who jerked off over his girlfriend's bag). In his manga he's picturing the trust is a very simple and easy thing to build up again while it's completely not.
The biggest ordeal and the K.O. strike for me is him saying "she isn't the classroom, she isn't in the library, she isn't in my head... she's no longer here". I literally felt his agony and pain, this is fkin' painful, man I can't imagine how people endured such things after reading the manga like it's very normal. Everything came after that is meaningless, development you say? He totally became a good person and discovered the outside world? They are useless, Because the base point to all these things is corrupt to begin with.
The final trauma is author's undeclared statement "Chill out readers, I make Nagaoka stole Takigawa from Kurosawa for no reason, I know you're fkin' pissed off, but don't worry here is a reparation; Kurosawa will end up with Sugawa Maiko". He did that in a very twisted way and above of all that it was very short, at least convince us with some interactions between them like how you did with Nagaoka and Takigawa.
Imagine that Nagaoka and Takigawa couple has more material than the MC, LOL (I'm talking about this manga, don't refer to "after the juvenile"). Cmon man, it's clearly a reparation to make readers satisfied about your low twist no matter how you look at it.
I have to admit that I'm like 90% of people who read this manga and hoped for Kurosawa to end up with Takigawa. I really liked Takigawa at first, just until that unbearable reveal. After that I only can't accept her contradictory actions to what she'd said to or done with Kurosawa before.
This manga was a terrible experience which made a lot of people MAD at some point, literally for no damn reason. I just quote this from someone's review which completely fits this situation:
Onani Master Kurosawa is in by itself a metaphor of the main activity of its protagonist.
Sorry for writing a lot and thanks if you read until this point (I doubt it thou), but I think I said what's in my heart and on behalf of a lot of people who hated that cheap trick called plot twist.
Contrary to what the intellectual said in the posts above, this manga is a work of art, and shows the part you live at school where you can choose between being a recluse or a friend to everyone, I've witnessed this a lot in my life school and I say that it is a work of art and should have been continued.
Finished it in a night
Didn't expect it to be this good kurosawa didn't end up with takigawa; this tragedy is what made this manga special
Honestly this manga persuaded me to be a better person
Easy 9 for me
Would have been interesting if the MC did give in to his anger and jealously and teamed up with the bullied girl even further and indulged himself in transgression even more so.... But the whole redemption plot and without it it would have been a way different manga, that was intended since the start, was simply boring, forced and the forgiveness of him by others was corny.
Keiji is at the center of the cheesy positive message of the manga and he is simply dislikeable for that. Sugawa liking him and making kurosawa teased was laughable, though realistic to her go for a bland guy (the ridiculousness of it, that is), but it really felt that this plot twist was just for the sake of putting the "good, positive, appropriate" keiji on a pedestal and use him as example of how one should behave with others. The author only gave kurosawa a girlfriend at the end for him to not end up as a "positive and lonely nice guy" below the true lucky bastard keiji, this is why their relationship (a girl that ordered the onanie master to be beat down by other guys at school) feels flat.
At the end it just felt like one of those juvenile teen school novels (the intent of it) made to give a positive message and for that purpose it delivers, though i find it underwhelming. But i understand why have resonated with others, not me.
Well this manga has been one enjoyable journey from start to finish. These last few chapters where really amazing and it was nice seeing everyone regain there trust in Kurosawa and become friends with him once again. The reunion was nice aswell and it was nice seeing Kitahara join everyone. It was nice to see Sugawa and Kurosawa grow close and develop a relationship, im glad they got together.
What a fucking read. I swear to god, the exhilaration and level of investment I had during the middle parts was unprecedented, I never thought I would feel such genuine emotion reading the funny nut note manga but here I am, floored at the sheer quality of this character.
I will say that I didn't feel so engrossed after the fact, around chapter 28, but they were by no means a far deviation from what I had enjoyed reading so far. The last arc with Kitahara felt lacking, probably because there was literally 2 chapters diving deep into that problem, but Chapter 30 was more or less a perfect ending for the story or at the very least satisfactory. This extra chapter is just a nice look into the newly reformed Kakeru Karasawa's future. Sugawa Maiko is cute ig.
10/10, realistically a 9/10 for me once I get my emotions in check.
I started reading this expecting that i would just laugh at some dumbass masturbating, but i ended with a smile on my face. This was way more than i expected; It's story about redemption, heartbreak, loneliness and resilience.
