No. I am a bit indifferent to it, but claiming that it's this bad, is an overreaction.

That was somewhat of a funny episode. The gore of this is minimal compared to last time. Migi chose to stay with Izumi. That mincemeat eater probably wasn't kidding, but I'm glad that it didn't turn out bad.

Episode that does not lower the average of the anime, dialogues combined with perfect music veeery spot on.
I find them very good and suited to the various scenes.
Narration sliding and double face, I still prefer the darker.
Plot and already full of interesting questions.
The only misfortune is to have as Madhouse studio for animation, they could make an effort to put a little more quality in their work.
The Character design is always nice as well as the Color Design.
The opening and ending are very nice.
The protagonist is Migi, are already quite marked at the character level, not bad.

The OP rocks, and the ED is so good, I wanna hear it again and again.
Hahah Migi made my day, I didn't saw that dick hand though.
Soo awesome catching those stones with dubstep OST, Shinichi is just showing off to Satomi. Hanazawa Kana's voice is so beautiful, and cute <3
That ending was unexpected, but I'm glad they censored it.
I wanna watch some more of this.
Btw, Good job Madhouse

It's not that I plan to write a report about abuse to the authorities. XD It's more of an impression from the scenes, where they were all together - their relationship didn't seem warm to me. That's only my impression, of course, it just seemed strange to me, because showing a loving family usually is no problem for a writer.
I wouldn't have minded, if his brother had shown him spider. :) I think that's normal. I would've definitely done stuff like that, if I had had a sibling (sadly I don't). Parent-child relationships are different, in my opinion.

On an almost unrelated note: I had a period in my life, when I constantly got such small biting critical remarks - I think that it is abusive, if it goes on for a long time, because it wears you down. But I won't insist that it is relevant in the case of Parasyte.

Well obvious I don't expect you to write a report about it. lol

I think it's only considered abuse if Shinichi is actually getting any sort of physical or mental pain from what they are doing. It's clear that they aren't doing anything to hurt him. His mother cooks for him, his father works all day and comes home to tease him a bit. If Shinichi is in danger they rush over to help even if they aren't sure he is in danger. That sounds like a very functional family to me, especially by today's standards. I like that they actually gave the dad more of a personality in the anime, he was fairly bland in the manga.

Now, obviously if Shinichi let out any signs that he disliked anything his parents were doing in relation to treating him in a certain way, then yes, it's abuse if they continue. Nothing they did was mentally straining though... Asking if he's on drugs, pointing at a spider to freak him out a bit, I know it's how you see it but I really do struggle to see how you see it that way... We haven't gotten all that many scenes with them after all and the scenes we did get were nothing out of the ordinary in my eyes. Shinichi never complained once and talks to them as his parents and even relies on them and trusts them to help him. There is no "distance" between them, they are very close and that's why they can joke around with each other.

I would like to ask though. What are these, "small biting critical remarks" that the parents said to Shinichi? That he should get over his fear? Well ya, I guess it is a lot to ask someone to do but they aren't tying him to a chair or anything to get over it and they clearly still care about him even if he doesn't and Shinichi didn't seem to mind them telling him that.

It seems those guys messed with the wrong alien guy lol.

So his name from now on is Migi eg...

Dat blushing doe...

WTF... dat dick hand doe...

The fact that she asked him if it really was him was rather weird to be honest.

Migi's such a funny guy... hand... w/e lol...

LOL, Migi sure got scary all of sudden.

Awwww, Migi decided to stay loyal to Shinichi T.T

Freaking bastards... torturing the poor neko-san...

DAMN SHINICHI WAS EPIC AND SCARY! I can tell he's actually changing since Migi merged with his right hand...

Hmmm, Murano avoided holding his right hand for too long, I think she knows something or is in a similar situation to Junichi's.

LOL, aliens "mating"?

There where some people who mentioned the cat scene and why she wanted to just walk away. It has to do with different culture.

In Japan, it's pretty normal not to get involved in stuff like that. You ignore it, or you go to the authorities. In this case, going to the authorities probably wouldn't have helped since they would have been long gone by then.

So when someones purse gets stolen, most people in Japan wouldn't do anything about it. Don't expect someone chasing down the bad guy. The owner would probably go to the authorities though.

Matter of fact, if some crazy person comes up to you, it's normal in Japan to just act as if they are not there. If you respond and engage with the crazy person, and try to report to the authorities after, you will be seen at fault as well for doing so and they may not do anything to help you. They see it as you giving that person permission since you responded.

Anyway, on topic. This anime so far is amazing. Certainly one of my favorites this season. I also love the dubstep. I wouldn't change a thing.

Great episode once again. I lol'd on that D part.

The dubstep does feel outta place sometimes, but i'm not bothered over it. Infact, i like it.

Plus the way shinichi glared outside of school in brawl and at the park. He's changing and murano has also noticed it. The chemistry is nice.

Btw at the end, what are those two people upto? Is that what I think it is?
Imagine a berserk anime by Yoshiaki kawajiri at Madhouse.

Dubstep didn't bother me in the first episode, but here it was too overpowering. They should have toned it down a bit or taken another BGM for the scene with the other parasite. It was absolutely glorious with the bullies though. Based Madhouse delivers, dickhand/10, handjob/10, noscoper/10

Ok, though I feel silly, while transcribing it.

- When are you going to get over that fear of bugs?

- So, you don't feel well, but you do have an appetite?

- Where's my bacon and eggs?
- You said you didn't want any yesterday.
- You said that I should have a proper breakfast, right? Can I have more toast too?
- You're so fickle.

That scene with the spider. (And before that Dad was reading aloud about gruesome murders during the breakfast.)

The scene with Shinichi's "nightmare". If you know your son is not an addict, but he has such a vivid and scary nightmare, something's not ok.

These things don't work as jokes for me, because their eyes are dead in the process. Maybe that's because they are adults, and anime often struggles with adult faces. Dunno.
And since there were no scenes of affection, Shinichi's parents seemed unlikeable to me.

But I won't push this topic further. It's not that it's too important, and it's subjective, so I won't be able to change the way I view it.

Hmm okay. I can kinda see your point of view but I honestly just think that that's just the way their family is.

The mother is the type to cook for them(Though I agree, a please and thank you would be nice but, cultural differences I guess.)

The dad wants his son to man up, that's fairly normal too. He wasn't calling him a failure as a son or anything, just said he should work on it. Also, when asked to stop talking about the things at dinner he apologized and stopped. lol

Also, I assume that Shinichi didn't have any problems sleeping beforehand and they did rush over right away. If it was a reoccurring thing then I would agree with you but I don't think it's necessarily normal for parents to freak out over every scene their teenage son causes.

I think it's just a matter of lack of scenes with them. If we get more scenes it may get properly fleshed out more and we can judge then. A bit too early to get a grasp on the side characters.

I can't fucking believe it. They went full PETA on us. There were multiple instances where they shamed people for eating meat and referred to people who do as "demons", then later they go on about how "animals are alive just like us!".

I can't fucking believe they put this propaganda in here. I don't care if it was in the manga or not. Going to reconsider finishing this, and definitely will not if this is a reoccurring theme.

^ I would just like to say that two different (contrasting and of different species) characters said those things. Migi was the one who first said humans were demons for having a varied meat diet. Keep in mind that he doesn't have a human conscience and isn't capable of things like empathy or guilt. Shinichi decided to stick to his moral beliefs and defended animals even though he isn't one of them. This makes sense since he was the one who first told Migi that they should be stopping those cannibalistic murders.

Sure, there could be some propaganda in there but the series isn't particularly contradicting itself. All I know is it's definitely showing the contrast between Migi's and Shinichi's method of thinking and how morals play into that.

The message is still there, regardless of who said it. Too lazy to dig up the quotes, but there were at least 5 or so instances of it within a 10 minute timespan. Hope they cut it out after this episode, because that was clearly someone pushing their agenda.

I won't deny that the series does feel preachy from time to time(and I will indeed bring up criticisms when/if they do occur) however in this instance I disagree with you.

Shinichi called the Parasites demons, obviously because they go around killing humans. Then Migi brings up quite the interesting perspective since he ISN'T a human.

What DO those pigs, cows and chickens think of us? What about the goats and other birds that we eat? Wouldn't they think of us as something of a demon?

Now let's compare the 2. Parasites eat humans and thus are called demons from humans. Humans however, eat MANY different types of animals.

You don't see Migi stating that it's wrong for Parasites to eat humans, he is stating that it is a matter of perspective and if they went by Shinichi's logic, humans would in fact be the closest thing to "demons" on this planet based solely on how many animals must look at us the same way we would look at the parasites.

Migi didn't shame meat eaters, he doesn't shame anyone, he lacks empathy and guilt, he would get no pleasure out of that. Is the SHOW insulting meat eaters? No, it's just bringing up a simple question. Would we have the right to call a species demons if they showed up all of a sudden and began eating us? What makes us better than the parasites?

No, of course Migi didn't. I meant the show itself. Maybe all those crazy libs on the internet are getting to my head, but when I hear a show keep talking about how people kill animals for consumption in this manner, I definitely get the feeling of a vegetarian telling me how I shouldn't eat what I do.

What's up with the demons and eating living beings comparison anyway? Demons aren't known for what they eat. Demons are known for trickery, lust, greed, temptation, persuasion, and hatred... but not what they eat. Most people couldn't even tell you what a demon eats, or if they even eat at all. It's just pretty sketchy. I definitely do see blatant agenda pushing though.

You can tell a lot of the praise for this show is coming just from the fact that it's Madhouse just by reading the threads. I like Madhouse a lot too usually, but that's when i think their actually doing their best work and are committed to a project. This isn't giving that sort of vibe at all 2 episodes in really. Hmm.. if that's how you look at it I guess that's your choice. I really didn't see it being done in a mean spirited way though. It's not telling you to not eat meat, Migi was basically using logic and facts to point out that Shinichi is wrong for calling parasites demons. It's more about the human perspective rather than insulting humans themselves.

I do recommend you keep watching... At least a couple more episodes before you write it off... though I admit that I was sort of hoping for a better soundtrack... Sorry, not better, a more atmospheric soundtrack. Parasyte is good at atmosphere and music would really help that but the wubwubs break immersion a bit.. it's the only real issue I have with the show other than the issues I have with the series in general... the characters personalities for instance are still a bit.. eh... the expressiveness is better but their overall personalities still need some work, not enough for me to call the characters bad though. The execution of the story however is properly paced and interesting for the most part, though I won't give anything away.

I have a strong feeling something is gonna happen to HanaKana's character. Am I right?
