I loved this episode as much as anyone else here, I was completely overwhelmed by Ushio the entire episode. The last two episodes have been really something.

Please tell me something. 5 years have passed? That incredibly long timeline skip, tomoya doesnt seem to have any physical difference. I can't really accept the fact its already 5 years..

Tomoya is only about 24 or 25 now...I don't imagine he would change very much in that short amount of time. Then again, I guess it wouldnt hurt to make his appearence a little bit older looking. I thought he looked his age in ep 17.

He can't be only 24/25 now.. Assuming hes 19 in the first season, we add 1 year for his year in the school. Another year for the time between working and marriage. And then another year for the birth of the child. So hes around 22 now. Five years later he should be 27... Thats really a long time skip there >.>

I'm pretty sure he's about 25 now. Nagisa and Tomoya met when he was 17 and she was 18. By the time he proposes to her, Tomoya is 18 and Nagisa is 19. After Nagisa repeats her final year of school and graduates, they finally get married... Nagisa would be 20 at that time, and Tomoya 19. Nagisa gives birth and dies at age 21, and Tomoya is either 20 or going to be 20. So......5 years after Ushio is born, Tomoya would be about 25.
lol ^^; sorry to get technical. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Papaaaaaaaaaaaa!
That moment was just so touching. Tomoya recalling his memories with Nagisa in the train was too.
Dang it feels great to see them finally getting together >///<

Tbh, I wouldn't have any complains even if this is the final episode. It is just so epic that even sweat is coming out from my eyes.

6/5

Agree. This episode could have been the last one. It was EPIC and very touching, i also had that strange phenomenon of sweat coming out from my eyes ;)(that last train scene ;_;). Episode left me feel very happy but still sad at same time. 5/5 Masterpiece

It's been a while since the last time i shed a tear for an anime episode. This was the best episode of Clannad and followed by the death of Nagisa(if the ending had been dango dai kazoku, it might have had the chance of being the best though). Anyways, after the pretty messed-up first half of the series, Clannad once again -like the first season- geared up.

5/5 for this episode, and i increased the general score from 5 to 6 or 7(now i've given a 7, but it might get back to 6 according to the last remaining episodes.) Almost perfect episode overall, hope it will keep up.

Like everyone said, this episode was perfect. But I really don't get how one perfect episode + like 3 really great episodes out of the last 18 could get this a 10. If the last 6 or so will be this good then yes, AS deserves a 10 but golly, this season could off been wrapped up in 12 episodes. But I'm probably just being pessimistic after watching that wonderfully teary and heart-wrenching episode so don't mind me.

Um, in my opinion, the following episodes have been perfect, or at least close enough for me to give them a 10/10:
Episode 9
Episode 12
Episode 13
Episode 15
Episode 16
Episode 18

That's one third of the series so far. More than enough to affect the total rating of the series, if you ask me. And this episode, combined with my rewatching of episode 1 to 12 of the first series yesterday, pretty much sealed the deal for me: This is the BEST DAMN SERIES EVER. So much for my previous thoughts that "It'll never exceed Kanon"...

this episode was just great, a masterpiece on its own...
after he returned with his grandmother, to ask ushio if she searched for that toy the whole time... since that moment the rest of this episode was just too touching, i couldnt stand it at the end lost some tears.

one of the best so far, i didnt thought that he would realize, that he was a bad father, so fast!? ushio was just cute, the whole time... such a lovely girl!

I can't say that Clannad hasn't gotten me to cry before, but this last episode easily made me cry the most. It's interesting how the tears are always tears of happiness (the sad scenes can get me to tear up, but have never caused the tears to come out).

Absolutely beautiful, plain and simple. No other anime gets me emotionally like Clannad does.

This is one of the most touching and one of my favorite episodes of ~After Story~, I love this one along with the one where Nagisa says she will be with Tomoya after they visited his dad in prison and he got angry. Ushio is so cute XD, I'm finally glad to see her smiling with her dad :D.

Since they totally missed the last episode, this one lacked in dramatization and emotion. The grandma part was a bit over the top though, encountering your grandma on a beach when you've not seen her for 20 years and suddenly reminding of your childhood days seems hardly possible to me, just like throwing away 5 years of your life and your child (not counting Akio and Sanae) not having any grudges against you. Lacks in realism, and it could/should have been better.

That's too bad, but it was still a good one especially thanks to the end.

I'm covered in tears, my pillow was soaked. It all started when Ushio said "in fathers arms", that's when I bawled. I cried and cried, then cried harder when Tomoya cried. This show makes me so emotional, I don't know how I'll survive without it. This is all thanks to Sanae, my she's wonderful. It's like she kept a respectable distance from Ushio, so she can fully accept and want her daddy. Oh so cute, so sad and amazing. The robot, that makes me curious. She fancies them doesn't she? Ohlala.

Tomoya and Ushio I fucking love you two<3

I've gotta say this was the most touching episode of the series. The scene with Tomoya and his grandmother was pretty heartfelt..but I think when Ushio tells Tomoya why she wanted that specific toy..that left a huge impact. I can't wait for more episodes..

Truly touching. Especially as a child of a single parent, this episode was amazing.

Sanae lost some points though. If someone, especially a child, is sad, let them cry! Anything else is unhealthy. It may have made the scene in the field more intense, but still.

I doubt she said it in a cruel way. I'm guessing she said it so that Ushio would have to look to her father for comfort or something. It's not that she didn't WANT to support Ushio; she wanted Ushio to think of her father as the only one who could offer her all the support she needed. And that's probably why she didn't talk about Nagisa as well.

This episode made me sobbing my eyes out. It all started with Tomoya and Ushio in the grass and when Tomoya started to cry in the train, my cheeks got all wet. Seriously, Clannad makes me sob almost every episode. It almost starts to get painful to watch. Or I'm just a pussy.

I shed a few tears when Tomoya was thinking back to Nagisa. For some reason, I almost forgot about her because of Ushio.

I was kinda' pissed off at first "Tomoya, you dumb f*ck, she looks exactly like Nagisa, why do you act like that ?" something like that. But all is well, and a nice dramatic scene came along, so I'm happy.

The tears were there, they just didn't seem to gush out.....

Amazing episode for the most part. Though KyoAni could have flexed those animation muscles on the field scene. it had so much potential to be a beautiful moment between Ushio and Tomoya if a light breeze blew. nonetheless, I enjoyed watching Tomoya's evolution in this episode.
