| interesting but basic setup, still hit the feels What is up with that low production quality though? Trigger already disappointed with their latest movie "Promare" but you would think this would atleast look mediocre, yet Trigger animation and cyberpunk money are only enough for this? Maybe I had my hopes up too much after seeing all the high quality fanart. Kill La Kill from 8 years ago looked better. |

| That was better than I had expected. The characters have been stereotypical so far, but I can find myself liking David. The soundtrack placement was very odd and out of place. Upbeat trap music would be blasting in the background during emotional scenes, songs would be louder than the actual dialogues during mundane scenes, and this anime just refuses to stay silent for a while. The animation is fucking phenomenal, brilliant and wonderful. Vibrant and entranced colour palette, with incredibly smooth animation, it's just really nice. The pacing is too fast, it feels rushed. The abundance of a rushed pacing and the need to be constantly loud reduces the significance of the events in the anime, allowing events to just fly over your head. The death of David's mother was of no significance, and his reaction just felt like it was a slight bother for him, if this was intended, great. But if not, that's a flaw. The subtitles were bad, and dialogue placement was odd. Things were rushed in general. This could easily be 40 minutes and more impactful. Art: 9/10 Animation: 9/10 Characters: 6/10 Story: 5/10 Writing: 5/10 Pacing: 3/10 So far it's a 6/10. +1 points for personal bias. |

| Lot's of cool stuff in this first episode. The music, atmosphere, all really came together. Especially loved the "walking to school" scene. Just tells the viewer so much about this city and David's general apathy. Well, except for the smile when he saw the crime scene lol. Seeing his mom just reduced to a jar was rough as well. |

| Love the futuristic/cyber setting and the art style Anyone else find some of the camera work in the car weird? Few no face shots of the mom during their deep talk and then the accident happens, felt kind of disconnected from what was happening |
| Finally started this show Right off the bat, the animation is obviously really good since it's a Netflix project but I still wanna appreciate the Studio Trigger animators. The OSTs are so damn good. Yep, the part of Night city where David Martinez lives is basically a shithole. That rich snob kid deserves to get his teeth knocked in fr. Oh man, Gloria was such a good character and an amazing mom on top of that. She really had to die huh? 😔 David is finally getting that cyber ware implemented in him. |

| The way they show all these extra scenes of the city to give atmosphere... amazing. The OST is on point, especially that slightly goofy-sounding track when he walks through the city. |

| I'm watching this for the stupidest reason, I heard "I Really Want to Stay at Your House" in a youtube video completely unrelated to this franchise in general, and upon falling in love with that song, decided I should watch the show as apparently the show makes use of it in a pretty effective way. Unfortunately, through enough youtube osmosis from listening to the song & different covers & such, I am entering this with a pretty solid idea of what direction everything's heading, so hopefully all the details I don't know will keep it alive for me. As for the Cyberpunk franchise in general, all I really know about it is Keanu Reeves and the botched release. Never had much interest in the game, or most games of that style tbh, but I don't feel like that's necessary here. There are a few instances where slang was used that would be nice to know to exactly what they mean, but I also wouldn't have liked the show stopping to tell us, so that's fine. Speaking of which, I did decide to listen to it dub. Heard it was better and it has Giancarlo Esposito in it so I have reason to expect it to be good. For this episode, I think everyone except Gloria was solid, she didn't sound particularly believable to me. As an opener, this episode was alright. Did a solid job of establishing the world and building up to the climax of David deciding to infuse himself with the military spine. There was a good touch of atmosphere in here that I liked, and don't really expect from Trigger. The scene where David walked to school was the highlight of the episode for me. Describes so much about the World and giving us little insights into David without needing to say a word, I also liked the music during it. |
| Decided to watch this in the English dub since it fits the world and characters more for me. Something about actually hearing "choom" and "eddies" feels better especially after having played the game. Fantastic first episode, already got that Cyberpunk vibe back I had from the game. They're not afraid to show us anything though, not to mention the shitty society and class disparity. Also animation and the art is just pretty much as good as I was hoping from this anime. Fcked up for David though, "sorry you didn't pay as much quite enough so your mom died" |

| Gotta say, Trigger really did a fantastic job with the anime. Normally game adaptations get a bad rep but here trigger nailed it outta of the park with creating their own thing while still maintaining roots of the original game. Wish more anime did something like that. |

| That was awesome, they did a great job making me sympathize with David in just one episode. I think I’m gonna watch this episode again but in dub to see which is better lol. |
