You'll have to forgive me if you're a fanatic for romance anime. I'm not and it made this episode a little tedious to get though. Overall the characters seem pretty weak; I've got no reason to fall in love with them. I do like Miyamura but that's about it.

The first episode was very good - this one was fine. Overall the anime sits at a 7 for me.

I was rally hoping Miyamura would swing on that one dude... but just a headbutt... sad :( I can see that it was a big character moment for him but it just didn't feel big enough.

My one hope for this series is that it spends some time on the characters individually, or at least fleshes them out a little bit more. One can hope.

Keep it up Horimiya!

"Just a headbutt" really? The president was bullied by hori in their childhood and you want him to get more fucked? Whats your problem dude? She's paying for all of the shit she did in the past.

That childish scene about bullying was supposed to get me in my feelings??? Literally they turned it into a comedic moment with the animation switching to the bubbly style and all her friends saying “yeah he’s got dirt on her” while she’s blushing. That’s not deep at all. I’m sorry but that take just doesn’t work. Do I want him to get more fucked...? Seeing as he’s a big shot in the student council and shows absolutely no signs of being hurt whatsoever, I think he’ll be okay.

You can rewrite and misunderstand whatever you want to. It’s quite sad that actual criticism of a show isn’t allowed. I didn’t find the scene impactful at all and it has nothing to do with gender. You brought that up.

A person with eyes would see you're nitpicking. Literally seen nobody complain about the pace expect you pulling complaints from thin air. Nothing is being botched just look around at the incredible positive reception the anime is getting

The incredible reception doesn't mean much because it's my opinion and I'm not changing it or formulating it around other opinions ad reception of it. I think its botched and I've given clear reason and explanation, there's no justification behind it being a nitpick besides your own inability to detect the problems.

Miyamura did hit him. Do you know what a headbutt is? Did you see the scene? That's a very solid hit. It did mean something, the old Miyamura never would've been so assertive, but now with him and Hori spending time together he has something/someone he wants to protect. He and Hori have had numerous character moments together. Why wouldn't you like a cast this likable. It makes no sense to hate them at this point.

Bruhhhh if you would have read my original post I alluded to him hitting him with his *fist*. Yes I saw the headbutt. Yes that’s a hit. If it meant something then why did the rest of the cast just roll with it. “Oh wow miyamura hit him, no biggie”. Also makes no sense because apparently the red headed dude was a hot shot in school with the student council and all... so no it makes no sense whatsoever and was not as impactful as it should be.

I never complained about moments between Miyamura and Hori, they have been good.

To answer your question: I said in my original response to you that I’ve just met the characters, they all look generic and nothing sets them apart, and they are only introduced to serve plot points which neglects the characters 100%. The only characters that have gotten any noticeable exposition are Hori and Miyamura. I’m not saying I dislike the characters; simply put I find no reason to like them. I’m very indifferent. Can you supply me with reasons I should be in love with these run of the mill characters?

Nothing at all is being neglected expect you're ability to not be prejudice towards the romcom genre. This ridiculous. Miyamura hit him and it had impact for his character just not the impact you very specifically wanted so therefore its trash huh. Wow. You're jaded view of characters you've just meet is ridiculous. no characters were neglected in the making of this episode

LMAOOOOO, my guy we are talking about opinions on anime, OBVIOUSLY THERE IS BIAS. We are judging animation, and varying perceptions of shows make it subjective. There is no real objectivism in it, like think for one second, is your favorable perspective of the series not a bias too. Cmon, you should know better than that.

Never called it “trash” mate. It’s not prejudice either. I can tell you a fault of every single show in my top 10, I care about reviewing anime fairly and with the same standards across the board. Go bark up another tree cause it seems like you can’t handle any type of criticism whatsoever. I bid you adieu.

Another awesome episode. I laughed a lot! The incident with the student council wasn't as intense as it was in the OVA but probably more believable this way. So well done adapting it this way. Absolutely loving it so far!

SENGOKU-KUN! Ah, my best boy has arrived! It was really weird to hear Nobuhiko Okamoto voicing him though... I never imagined him to voice such a gentle, sensitive character!

It was awesome to see Miyamura's cool side when he defended Hori and nutted Sengoku and then his soft side on Hori's birthday. I love how all the characters have so many facets to their personality, makes them more fleshed out.

Also enjoyed seeing the flashbacks of Hori & Sengoku's childhood together! She's always had such a bold personality haha

Seems like a very nice and relaxing romcom. I like the characters so far and I'm glad the title says it all about how the relationship will develop if it's not obvious already. But still good to have something like this to look forward to.

Kayanomama strikes again! Man, I swear those roles are near perfect for her :D

Anyway, they became third years pretty quickly. So now they have mostly only two terms left together with the second one being exams and the third one job hunting. Wonder how fast this adaptation will go.

One plot/animation hole though: After he headbutted the prez his glasses went magically back and while being without it noone even commented on that (even though Yuki who saw him before leaving the school was present).

Also, great ED is great. Honestly, I'm already loving it.

Hori unconciously singing along to anisong that her brother usually sing XD. and... Hori's mom introduced into the story... she really curious about Miyamura and Hori just realized she didn't know His first name all this time XD. She went through all weird and funny thing just to get the information about his name haha...
Her mom succesfully talk with thim face to face when he came to the house.Meanwhile Hori asked by her mom to buy something outside.. haha she got tricked by her own mother XD.. well at least finally she got Miyamura's first name at least XD.

Moving to the second part, the introduction of some of new faces of Student council. Sengoku, Ayasaki, and Kouno. Hori asked by stuend council president, Sengoku to help some of student council job that actually was Ayasaki's. then after tiredly finishing the job she hand over the task to Ayasaki. Finally the infamous headbutt of Miyamura XD... scene happen. when Hori got asked by the council why some of the data's was missing, kinda blaming her and asking her to apologize for something that not was she doing... calm & and little enraged Miyamura straightly headbutted Sengoku and show the proof the missing data that Ayasaki carelessly drop when they were bump out each other... and case closed all of them apologize to Hori and Hori told other that Sengoku was her childhood friend that se often bullied in the past ... and funny thing the headbutt become His new trauma whenever he meet Miyamura haha..

And.. Hori's B'Day... that quite short of scene that got adapted.. and directly into Miyamura's gift, his favorite music DVD's...i wish i could see the ring scene tho XD...

Well it seems they adapted the 4th chapter and just directly skipped to the student council chapter/ chapter 7 then a little bit of chapter 9 (Hori's B'day). I think that's okay and understandable since it quite difficult to fit all the source into adaptation.. and i hope they don't skipped the vital/important chapters in the future episodes. Looking forward to the next episode :D

ngl I'm a bit disappointed with CW with this ep, especially considering the quality of all their other adaptations they've done so far. A lot of the flow felt really clunky and lots of dragged out pauses. At least the art more or less is still dope.

But the actual contents of the episode itself were still great as always. Have to say the VA's for the student council and Hori's mom were spot on (and given how hori's dad is voiced by OnoD I expect the same). And finally the underrated Sengoku makes an appearance, poor lad.

Now all that's left is just 2 more character's of focus left to be introduced (which will come much later) and all the main cast is there :P

They just really adapted the first 4 chapters and then jumped into adapting some of 7 and 9 in these 2 episodes. Honestly, not a fan of the decision, but it was still a nice episode. So I kinda feel the same. The contents were great in of themselves, but not a fan of some of the decisions made here for the adaptation.

@r16fourarm I think chapter 5 would have been nice to show for miyamura’s character instead of jumping to 7 and 9, and it would have made things between hori and miyamura seem to be happening less fast to some of the audience who haven’t read the source to be fair.

Yeap.. agreed with ur thoughts :D, for anime-only audience, their development seems kinda too fast. It'll be great if they did the pacing like Kaguya-sama, i hope they don't carelessly skipped any vital chapters from the source in the future :D.

I really love Miyamura and Hori but Yoshikawa and Ishikawa both seem great as well from what we've seen of them in these two episodes so I'm really hoping as the show continues we'll get to see them some more.
I hope the show keeps the up with this quality throughout the season so it can become a new favourite of mine.

It's really good where they are now, but Hori DEFINITELY likes Izumi, there's no doubting that, so I'm not sure it'll stay in the friend-zone area for long

I know Japanese are weird about names and stuff but I will never understand nor find it believable that someone doesn't know a name of their classmate. They've been a classmates for at least a year, plus they see each other outside school on daily basis. I just can't find it believable.

The second part of the episode with the student president was also dumb and melodramatic.

Everybody gangsta till Izumi-kun takes off his glasses.

Funny episode, though this one felt even faster than the first, like we're in episode 2 and they're already worried about taking different paths, I like that it decides to not waste time going in circles as most romcoms, but it's really fast, maybe a bit more than what should be for its own good. Anyway.
The first name segment was funny, Hori can be really oblivious at times, her trying so hard to find out was gold comedy (F for Ishikawa), also her mother is very charming, it was great to meet her, and Miyamiru knowing her name beforehand was really funny. The council segment was good as well, it had a more dramatic tone, the introduction of the president, Sengoku, and his girlfriend, Ayasaki, was good, and the fact that he was bothered by Hori since childhood was fun, she's a beast at times, xD; but the highlight of it was the council confronting Hori, and the headbutt that Miyamura gave Sengoku at the end, pretty much no one expected it. The last segment had the dramatic tone as well, but it was more heartwarming; Miyamura and Ishikawa apparently are the kings of ping pong, that level of cordination is insane, lol, Hori is already worried with the idea of Miyamura going away, that was good, but we're just in episode 2, it feels a bit weightless, though the part when he gifted her a CD had a nostalgic tone, like time really flies (I wonder what kind of music Miyamura hears).

I can't help much but keep comparing this to the ova, since its just the only one that i can talk about the show. Lol. Well, compared to the ova one, i finally get some new material. I don't remembered Hori-san had so much difficulties and thoughts knewing Miyamura-kun first name like that. While the introduction of Hori-san mother felt a bit funny here, with her way of teasing toward Hori.

There was a tiny different, while myself think its no big deal. The opposite happen with the introduction of the student council members. I felt like, its a bit more impacted in the ova than this. Its too fast, and the way they portray Sengoku did not reaching much my initial reaction. I thought it can be more dramatic, and epic. However, its just there, solved, and begone like nothing happened in the first place. The interaction felt a bit underwhelming there. Ofc, its still impacted to Sengoku by how he depicting Miyamura-kun from those marked plot point. In the end, i am still preferred the ova plot than this.

Gladly, the main deal for this episode, Hori-san's birthday was decent enough to depin9her feeling. Its no strange, girl. The way Miyamura found out her birthday present was good enough to be clear out my expectations toward the several plot points. Since the beginning of the third class already announced in the end, its really understandable that the new content will be my next expectations. Lets see how far it goes from there....

Anyone else get this weird serial killer vibe from Mama Hori?

Still feels oddly fast-paced, this episode felt more like a half-dozen shorts than one continuous episode. Honestly if it keeps up that energy, I might peter off this series. I don't know what it is about slapstick humor that makes me want to cut and run like I do, but this show is hitting pretty close to that nerve for me right now.

Real nice of the student council to dump their work on an ex-member and then blame her for any shortcomings not of her doing. Miyamura's headbutt was unexpected, but much appreciated.
