| Sapphire looks like the kid of Kotobuki Tsumugi and Tachibana Makoto tbh. This is pretty cute so far. |

| This is the slice of life that I enjoy, realistic coming of age with a tint of romance. Not the slapstick slice of life or the shoujo types, this is my peanut butter and jelly, Enjoyed all the anal details the studio took to make it as much of my real first day of high school was. The band premise was already great and how they presented that in this episode does not disappoint. They really used the premise throughout the entire episode which made me happy I'm so happy they didn't make the moe girl characters into tamako market levels of cutesy girls, that would have been annoying. This is nice and subdued. kinda. The show's animation looks like it has been skinned from tamako love story with scenes of hyouka put in. Yeah and the keys are animated jawdrop. Obvious fanboyism right now so I'm gonna stop |

| Pretty interesting though it is somewhat a slow start... Animation is very nicely done~ Well I'm still going to watch this anyway because the main character's instrument is a euphonium??? Never did i imagine that a eupho can get the spotlight of an anime series *happy tears* I hope to hear more awesome music, hopefully it'll be more about the music, or at least a balance between the music and the friendship |

Very true to life for a first day of school episode. I really enjoyed Hazuki's conflict about joining the concert band because of her junior high being a dud gold her last year and how bad the high school band played at the club recruitment drive. Made for a great start. A complete 180° from K-ON! (please stop this comparisons now). With an excellent trumpeter like Reina this threw a wrench in her decision. It's funny just seeing Hazuki's reaction to Reina. Now if someone was to pick this up besides Horriblesubs I'll be happier. |

| This show looks interesting and promising. I look forward to seeing how the series will develop over the next few weeks. As a first episode this looks quite nice in my opinion, with them introducing main characters and getting the show rolling quite quickly. |
| Fine episode. Fine OP & ED, nothing special. Character cast is fine, too. Focus on character relationship, band and some romance with the childhood friend would be very great. |

| Kumiko's pessimistic charisma stabbed me like a needle, I didn't think Kyoani could write female protagonists that sharply. Either way, this is definitely a show I'll be looking forward to this season, keep it up Hibike! 4/5 |

| Pretty good start, I was expecting a K-On! 2.0 story but it seems this will be different and will focus more on the actual music. Animation is superb as usual as to be expected from KyoAni. I actualy prefer Kumiko in ponytail. she reminds me of UI on that hairstyle. |

I guess what you mean is putting all the exposition and backstory in a flashback while our protagonists are in the middle of an important concert and then intercutting between present and the past? Similar to WA2? at least the first episode. That would be more interesting than the narrative we have now, but unfortunately this is an anime (I don't know how it is written in the novel), especially Kyoto anime, excels in story-telling is not as important as having really pretty and nice visuals and sound. | Let me be honest: never played any brass instruments, only came for Sapphire and double bass. Found out she's just another shrinking moeblob for a new unoriginal show. Yet waiting for her bass performance. MC looks like Houtarou Oreki in a skirt. No pep, no happiness in life, no motivation, and as such - no empathy. Her childhood friend is once again an aloof type, like Chikane from Kannazuki no Miko. Hope she won't be overly polished and idealised. Plot jumps too much and leaves no time to empathize characters, with MC, again, being dull. Anyway, let's just hope that Sapphire will not be such a lil-presence moegal and will actually play double bass. |

| Kumiko is such a cutie, especially with her hair down. Just love pessimistic and unemotional characters. Would like to see some love relationship between Kumiko and her childhood friend (he seems to be cool). Hope Kousaka won't bitch much later. All hail KyoAni! =) (cuz they r teh best) |

Just would make more sense to use the only gemstones that are known primarily for being green. Emerald and Jade. (transparent and opaque) Instead they used Sapphire and Opal. (transparent and opaque) Maybe that's the joke? It's some weird random humor thing? Since sapphires and opals are primarily known for being blue and multicolored, respectively. |

| Lovely episode. It reminded me a lot of K-On which is no surprise I guess since it's made by the same studio, but it seems like they will focus a little bit more on the music. I liked Asuka a lot right from the beginning, she was really pretty. Hope to see more of her. :) |
