It it is true...then this is kindl of a mess-up.

And that true Dragon Cavalier armor is pretty sleek.

Is this for real? That's really different from the source material then. Talk about anime original ending. I didn't mind the ending though, but now it makes me want to read the LN. Although I'm sure the outcome will be the same.

All those images look really cool, especially the Gaz + Niva one - looks really sci-fi and cyber punk-ish, which is really cool. And yes, this dragon armour looks pretty badass too. Not sure how I feel about Bones leaving out that Tooru becomes a half-Chaika. I mean they rushed so much, might as well have cramped this in into a 15 second time frame too (like season 1 when the other girl becomes half Chaika). Although it's still possible for this to happen in the OVA, although I'm overall satisfied with the ending.

Also I like it more how Tooru becomes a Dragon Cavalier in the anime, because here it's his own decision, where as in the LN as stated, Frederica forces him into becoming one (even though she does it for their own good I imagine).

Edit: I just realised the LN is still publishing. It's fine then, because there would have been no other way for Bones to adapt it without an original ending. The only minus is the rush job, otherwise it's not really a big deal.

We can still hope for an adaptation that won't skip any of the source material in the future.

He does not turn into a half chaika. the contract of being a dragon cavalier made his hair glow white the same as federica's dragon armor color. The ending for the LN and the Anime ended differently but more or less the same conclusion. the only problem is the last episode was rushed so they had to make a few changes. it should have had 2 more episodes but im satisfied.

Yeah, I'm satisfied too. But what do you mean the LN ending; it says the LN is still publishing?

As the majority of people have already said, the last few episodes were very rushed. Would have been much better if it was 12 or 13 episodes long instead of 10. Very hard to believe that the fight with Emperor Gaz would only last an episode and that he would be killed so easily when he was supposed to be such a badass. It also would have been nice to see more fighting during the tournament.

The end is a bit fast but it is ok.

I appreciated this anime, all the episodes was good but not exceptional. The end is successful too. But I would have liked one or two more episodes. 8/10

They really should have made it 12 episodes, they could've done a lot more with the ending than Gaz roflstomping Cavalier Toru repeatedly, then having Niva betray him (without Gaz reacting in the least) and sucking out Chaika's memories in order to blow him to smithereens. Gaz seemed neither surprised nor concerned with Niva's betrayal, up until his seven layers of protection got blasted to nothing and he went kaboom.

Still, at least we got an ending to the story, even if it was rushed as hell. They also failed to let us know just how much of her memory got sucked out by Niva's megablast, and whether or not Toru had to rebuild his relationship with her from step 1. At least we got to see happy endings for everyone. Well, except Niva, who gets locked away until the next Big Bad decides to use her to blow up the world again.

8/10 despite a subpar ending, let's hope the OVA explains more about how much White Chaika remembers.

The only part of the final showdown that felt rushed to me was how quickly that gundo switched sides. I can understand her being reluctant to shoot Chaika, but to just go over and then kill the Emperor, i don't know. Rest of the story didn't feel rushed to me. I don't know what you ppl are talking about. Of course they're gonna kill the Emp right away, before he can consolidate his power.

Seems I'm not the only one thinking that was a bit rushed, but it still was a nice ending. The part with Niva switching the side so fast was a bit awkward though...
And as everyone else I'm curious about the state of Chaikas memory.

About the LN ending, wasn't the writer supposed to be working with BONES, so they could get like the same ending? I guess the outcome is the same, but still...

I'll miss this show, but I'm excited for the OVA!

well they just put a big period on it on the plot about "Reason why Chaika collects the remains of Gaz and put a funeral for him" and literally she did

the only bad thing is the last scene its kinda not very smart to put like that, it puts people lingering "what happened to them?"
they should put a small narration during the ending scene so people will understand the changes happened all of them

well lets hope something convincing this upcoming OVA next year

THAT'S how it ended? Overall I enjoyed the series, but the last few episodes have been very anticlimactic. And going from the end of the battle to not even a 5 minute epilogue isn't a satisfying conclusion at all :/

There were still some nice moments and all the Chaika's are too adorable, especially Red.

Niva suddenly turning good and and absolutely obliterating Gaz in seconds was such a deus ex machina asspull. Really, the entire episode felt incredibly rushed. Black Chaika and Shun were also defeated way too easily.

It was enjoyable battle/adventure series overall with a disappointing and rushed ending.

Dat niva ass tho.

Wow, this ending would be so much better if it was true. It was unlikely that the LN did all that exposition dump in 1 sitting like we got in ep 9.

Woulda even even more shocked at the reveal with all that 'god' stuff. Oh well... won't be the first or the last time that anime studios screw up an adaptation / rush an ending.

I mean, if you're gonna rush something, at least do it for a small scene or chapter... not the damn ending, geniuses.

I do agree that the ending was a bit rushed, but I feel more like it was straight to the point, I was more worried that with only one episode left, it wouldn't be able to neatly wrap everything up, but I feel the series did a great job at going out with a bang. I almost flipped out when I thought Chaika might have actually died at the end of the fight, but overall, I'm pleased.

I thought the exact same thing watching those scenes that was pretty big wtf moment to me.

How Niva ended up was definitely ironic considering that's why she even switched sides. The moment she went from Gaz to Chaika felt really random, almost nonsensical because aside from her apparently having a personality. It's weird because at first she went to Guy's side, and then destroys so much shit with Gaz but then she goes, oh wait, can't kill white Chaika because she was the only one who treated me like a person. Mhmm. Still can't get over it because that's pretty much how they beat Gaz. Because the OP weapon switched sides.

Like everyone said, super rushed episode...this series had some really funny moments (due to Akari, thank you imouto with a weird sense of love), and I really liked the combat scenes. The story was fairly interesting, but for some reason I still didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I don't even care what happens at the end between Tooru and Chaika. It's good she's still alive, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't have her memories anymore. She had to use her memories as fuel, and that last shot was super powerful...no way she still has her memories. Anyways, looks like this will be anime that I will forget after awhile. It was solid for the most part, but it didn't give me the feeling of wanting the episodes to come out faster or anything and I wasn't super invested in it.

@NeutralSide
Wow if that's the real way it went, that would've been far more interesting to watch. Gaz and Tooru's armor look awesome, more so than in the anime. Why did they change the armor...and what, Tooru becomes half Chaika?

Chaika's memory/health was affected? What about her and Tooru's relationship?! And Red Chaika ditched her group??? Hope the OVA is not all fanservice, need some explanations.

Yes, this episode was rushed but at least has a good conclusion for the series.

But, my biggest question is Chaika's backstory, I mean what is her connection to Gaz' "daughter" and what are her implanted memories (but glad to see her way of speak in the lasy scene). They didn't explained about the scar in the neck of Red and Vivi Chaika too.

Poor Frederica, had little moments in this episode and I heard that it was explained in the LN what she is truly.

So overall, yes the series has still a lot of questions unanswered but I'm still glad for my Chaika and Toru OTP. 7/10, can't wait for the OVA!
The world shall know the truth soon.

I was reminded of one thing ... in S1, episode 9, Chaika says it is impossible to choose which memories to use as magic fuel ...
I wonder then why she lose only the fake momories ? We have to trust designers that said "she lost all her implanted memories" ?

For me she could have lost them both, true and fake (or the majority of them), but with Toru by hes side she will be able to create new ones !

I was not expecting much from this last episode, but even if the story was a little too fast to become the combat engaging in the right way, the story failed to satisfy me, putting an end to the events.
Too bad it did not have time to be familiar with all the characters.
The studio Bones, in this second season, has worked much better, making some good animations and drawings have appeared almost always well finished.
I wonder if there will ever be a third season.
For now my final vote is 7/10!

Only the false memories of her being Gaz' s daughter were erased. so basically she is now free with her own will. She is still recovering from that whole ordeal but she still remembers Toru and Akari and the adventure she had so no worries.

This has been confirmed by the producers twitter page although they messed it up by not adding the dialogue at the end as because of what everyone else said it was a rushed job

Bummed their was no ending kissu between any characters. I'd love to see that happen, guess I just have to rely on Doujinshi for that.

And in the end, Fredrica was no good at all. She gets taken out every single time she would be useful, and Toru accomplished absolute nothing while he was a dragoon cavalier.

Well okay, he got past Shin, but Shin never was really serious - he would have used his Iron-Blood Transformation and went for the heart/throat or eyes, instead of simply disabling by stabbing between the shoulders or so.

The end where Red Chaika visits Toru and the rest & both Gillette and his boss getting a promotion is nice. They skipped some people though, like the rest of Red Chaikas team. And we do not know for sure what happend to Blue Chaika.

Enjoyable show overall but it could’ve really used 2-3 extra episodes or heck, even 1 more would’ve helped a bit.

Thoughts on Tooru finally becoming a Dragoon Cavalier:: Well, I can actually see why it didn’t happen sooner because it would’ve probably made a lot of the entertaining battles we got so far rather boring as he’d steamroll over his foes. This is probably the same reason why Frederika didn’t participate in fights as much. The fight scenes have been one of the most enjoyable aspects in this show for me because our protagonists always struggled to defeat their usually superior foes and always had to work together & to do so. The very introduction of something as OP as Frederika had me worried to be honest, but luckily my worries were for naught. That being said,Tooru becoming a Dragoon Cavalier was indeed rushed and it could’ve came one ep earlier or at the beginning(or if the series had at least 1 more ep).

As for other things, I kind of regret that Heartgen didn’t play a bigger role. In a way, I actually wished him to be the big baddie instead of Emprah Gaz. I would’ve liked to see a more interesting debate between him & Tooru seeing as Tooru initially wanted the same thing as him. And of course, Gaz loosing due to an oversight which was not realizing "The power of friendship, huehuehue!” had me rolling my eyes but whatever.

I’m still glad we actually got an ending(rushed and unsurprising as it was) and didn’t get the usual “go read the light novel” treatment. Little Red Riding Chaika was a treat :P Her & Akari were prolly’ my favorite characters.

8/10 for the 1st season,7/10 for this due to the ending.

So the emperor got one shoted by White Chaika. I did not expect the emperor to die that easy but I suppose they had the end the series quickly.

White Chaika used her memories as ammunition for the wand gundo, so I wonder what did she forget? I though she was going to die after using the wand gundo because I assumed she would have used all of her memories to fire the weapon one time since the wand is so OP.

WE FINALLY GOT TO SEE TORU BECOME A DRAGON CAVALIER! This was very satisfying because if we did not get to see Toru and fredrica make the contract before the end of the series rage would be prevalent.

So in the end we got a happy ending for everyone.

~Great episode and series!!!
