Meh, was realy disappointed by this one past chapter 25 or so...
This manga was a realy great read at first, but then it went totally train wreck... but... that may also be one of the relations to death note? Just like how death note went trainwreck, maybe author planned this manga end to be a trainwreck too?
Can't ever be too sure how deep can one go, I guess..
But yeah, what we had was a start with what seems to be the most beautiful boy in class ignored by everyone cept one otaku...(come on, even if you are socially unactive, girls would be all over him, at least a few for sure)
That was first big flaw it had, but I did overcome it fast by how entangling was the kurosawa's onani personality..
Author did a good job reminisce'ing Light's(death note MC) character - someone who is smarter than average, has good looks, but at the same time feels like this whole world is dull, while at the same time looking forward to the judgement as if he was someone supreme..
So yes, that wasn't a very strong start, but it did realy well I guess..
Then we started to see the games of kitahara x kurosawa.. I started to hate how kitahara was so powerless herself at that point.. I realy thought she will help out at least a bit, but she was realy pathetic...
At the same time, I grew fond of onanie master - he felt like he was realy developing, his own sense of justice was always pretty respectable for me, and when he did something, it realy felt just right.
With that part done, the next big and probably last twist we get is the confession, where the almighty trainwreck is starting..
So at first we get an excuse from kurosawa, which is covered by something as pathetic as 'attempt to change'.. well, that realy is a poor reason and totally out of his personality.. maybe if it wasn't so rashed and made into an entire arc by itself beforehand, it could be done better...
But what I saw was a realy illogical change of one of most unique characters into some bland guy, who has claims not to be masochist, but you get a total opposite feeling from it.
That's where I lost all my hopes in Kurosawa and began to seek something interesting in side characters..
That's exactly when kitahara began to shine, from a somewhat powerless girl she started, unlike kurosawa to realy change into something - you realy saw it, the agression rose and you could realy see the development here, it was patitently growing inside her and finally that burst of feelings came out..
But in the end all she did was cut her wrist and get stopped by kurosawa, heh.. Real kurosawa would just look at how things go and laugh off, but the changed one decided to stop her from actually developing and it worked just perfectly.. he simply turned her into a shut in, while she could become something more, probably as a criminal...
And that's pretty much when all interest drops off - it becomes a generic romance manga with a tsundere in it, who was actually bully before and the type of girl the real MC is supposed to hate..
Yes, that is it, we get over 20 chapter of masterpiece just to be thrown into a complete trainwreck for the last few chapters..
To summ it up, it was a manga with a realy great start, you realy hopped on an emotional roller coaster from the get go and had mixed feelings about MC and reactions of different people were enjoyable.
But when it was time to develop for kurosawa it realy lost it - he basically changed into almost an opposite of his personality over 2 chapters or so and it realy felt extremely rushed..
Heh, I still can't leave the feeling that I am rereading the death note here, the feelings I got were exactly the same, with how it trainwrecked at the end..
Too many things that just make you scream, come on, that's toally off.. like takigawa dating nagatsuka.. nagatsuka going out of the way to reach MC's feelings.. I understand that it's a character driven type of manga, but it felt TOO much how world turned around kurosawa. The unreal change of kurosawa in a few month time.. falling for a type of girl that he hated the most..
I can keep naming such flaws for long but I will stop at that, I guess..
In the end I am struggling at giving it 8 or 9... I personally feel like the series were strong enough for the 9, but at the same time it had just too many flaws for that.. well, guess I put 9 until I find something more suitable to hold the 9 spot instead.
If we go by overall feeling of enjoyment - then it's pretty much an easy 9, if not 10, so even with all it's flaws it's something I could actually suggest to some types of people :D |
