Only Ginko could sleep with a cig in his mouth lol.
Anyways, pretty good OVA. The story wasn't as interesting as some series episodes, it was kinda long too but OST was great as always and it's Mushishi after all. 7/10

boring as fuck as always but still watchable... barely

don't get me wrong, i'm not expecting super epic fight scenes and laser pew pew with boobs everywhere

it's too damn straight forward with shitty ass voice acting girl that QQ about life and shit

gonna go take a long nap before starting the new series

Oh cool. I didn't expect to like this (both seasons bored me) but I did. Much more interesting than main episodes and actually made me feel and think about the symbolism and things.

D'aawww.. This was cute ^-^ I thought 44min would be too much, but nah, it felt short actually xĐ
Having seen Mushishi dubbed and now switching to the subs I was prepared for the worst. xD
And I was pleasantly surprised. I like Ginko's English VA, but I think I like his Japanese VA even more!
I hope nothing happens today

Incredible, I missed mushishi's amazing atmosphere and this ova just gave me the pleasure of it again. Fantastic story, probably one of the best from the mushishi series.

On to Zoku Shou.

!!! Spring Season is going to be fun this year.

THE SHIVERS. I completely lost my shit when I saw that. ANIME IS SAVED AGAIN
Hype train aside, this OVA was pretty damn good, the music was great, the art was great, Ginko was great (what did you expect), everything was great. Now I'm going to enter a phase of cryogenic sleep until April.

LOL "THE SHIVERS". As it turns out, that's the name of the opening song. Someone is a seer! :P

Really liked this special. Didn't realize that this existed so it turned out to be my last episode of Mushishi, but in a way the ending with Ginko walking in the sunlight is pretty much the same as the movie.

It was good to see Tanyuu again and Ginko's doctor friend again.

What an unusually non-dramatic story this time around. Oh well, I give it a bonus point up to 9/10 for one very special reason - it gave us a glimpse of the characters from the first season, my favorite one was included, which was the best thing that could possibly happen.

I guess we're preparing for Zoku now. One journey that will be, wouldn't it?

That didn't disappoint at all. Hiyori's development was on-spot. Got teary-eyed when she said "Now it's my turn to shine (for Hinata)"

As good as the main series.

A few seconds later after I considered that Hinata was like the sun to Hiyori, the latter said the exact same thing to herself. That was cute. I'm a sucker for stories about siblings.

Very good special. Most of the time, specials don't really do anything to justify themselves as stand-alone pieces but this one was totally worth it. Longer than a standard episode, slightly more moving parts, but still retains the spirit of the series.

I still think the last scene of this special works perfectly as the end of our journey with Ginko. The way he wakes up saying 'What a fine day, I hope nothing happens today along the way', while he walks off to his journey while we are being soothed by the as ever calmingly beautiful soundtrack, just feels so beautiful. Hard to believe it's already been 4 years since this aired.

The feels when the characters from the first season showed up - all watching the eclipse. The soundtrack was on point, too. It's hard not to love this anime.

I'm glad the guy who was lost in the bamboos is taking care of (now) both his daughters and that the couple who couldn't have kids now have a kid. I think some other things made me happy, but I don't recall them rn. It was amazing. I can't imagine the hype people felt watching it back in 2014.

I had watched random parts of Mushishi back when I was a child, but never the entire series. Now that I finally did, I am just so glad. It is so good.

Not sure if I really like this, or just sort of like it. I guess that's the problem when a standalone episode is just one of many others. The moment where we see characters from the first season looking up at the eclipse was a nice touch, and was probably nostalgic for people watching this when it first aired.

I really liked the concept of Mushi becoming especially active during the eclipse, it felt exciting. The white haired girl was pretty selfish, but oh well, considering her situation, it was natural for her to become so envious and repulsive. I really liked how casual people worked together to solve the phenomenon, it was very unusual, making it feel...interestingly comfortable.

This was fantastic. I enjoyed it much more than the original show, mostly because it was obvious this show had a larger budget. The bump up to HD also helped too. The OST was exceptionally beautiful. The story was really good for a Mushishi episode (likely due to the longer run-time allowing for more character development). I have no complaints. 8/10.

God this HAS to be one of the warmest welcome back to the series i've seen from an anime in a while. Although i only finished the 2005 series a few days ago, i can tell Artland wanted to show people that were watching when it was aired, they haven't lost their touch with this series by showing off the much needed updated art, the beautiful scenery and the OST that just hits the spot all the time.
I cannot imagine what an old fan of the original 2005 series must have felt to finally see the rest of the beautiful story that is Mushishi be finally animated after a whopping 9 years later. Honestly i would be very close to tears, cus i could imagine it being one of my favourite animes and having to wait 9 years is quite something.
The start of the solar eclipse, where it flashed through the different scenes of the people Ginko has encountered and helped in season 1 was so fucking nostalgic. Like i said i only finished this anime a few days ago but even still, the rush of nostalgia and realisation of "holy shit that was actually ages ago" hit like a fucking truck with the "isekai" genre attached to it. GOOD GOD i can't imagine the emotions fans would have gone through after seeing that, Artland REALLY wanted to hit people with the mega feels :c
Cheers to you Artland I'll drink to that. Here's too season two and whats to come in the future.

Not gonna lie, I enjoy this more than the 1st season. Maybe cuz of the animation improvement.

Glad that this story has good ending. Overall a big step up than the first one. 9/10. Gonna proceed to the last Zoku Shou one

That eclipse scene is epic....I guess I only remember some of the people that Ginko encountered in the 1st season.

- The boy and the grandma (1st episode)
- The girl with no eye
- The man that falls in love with the bamboo girl (glad he has 2 kids now, lol)
- The girl that can see the past and the future

Wait.. I want to nag a little...

"Now they have some sense of how I've felt all this time. I hope this eclipse never ends." what did they do to you, Hiyori...

Okay, ignore it. I was just annoyed at that scene.

Uh! I really love this special episode!! 45 min. is the right amount of time, although I wish it was 1 hour... because 45 min. felt really fast. The atmosphere of this episode was great..

I don't know if this sounds funny or not but I personally really like sunshine. Watching the theme of this episode made my admiration for sunshine even higher. I love the sun, clear skies, warm air that turns hot, I love sunshine!

I'm late but from episode 17 of the first season where Aya lost her older sister to the Uro in the cocoons.

They said that Ito was found at the end but never stated that they were reunited.

During the scene when they were looking up at the eclipse, it shows characters from each episode and Aya is now reunited with her now younger sister ;-;.

I'm sure there are a few more details from the other characters in that scene that I missed to.

An amazing and profound story. I particularly love how everyone is helping to fix the mushi problem alongside Ginko. It's kind of cool that he gets the 'big jobs'. So glad Hiyori could eventually be in the sunlight. This made me cry.
