Dekomori looked amazing with her hair down lol, wish there was more of her like that xD
Well that was a pretty satisfying ending I do say so myself, this show deserves a high 8/low 9 in my book.
One thing though

Who cares if people complain about the Kiss. IMO it would make the show better Overall to show even better improvement of the characters + it would be cute nohomo. KyoAni always does the No Kiss thing and it's getting dull, but they still make it good w/o it. I just want a Kiss scene :<.

Decent ending to Chuunibyou. I flipped out when I saw Dekomori with her long hair down and calling Yuuta 'senpai'. God damn Dekomori ftw! Dat Nibutani X Yuuta moment, really wish there was more development in their relationship. Kumin acting like Rikka was pretty weird.

Police chasing Rikka and Yuuta when they're on a bike, lolsrsly? Also, it kinda sucks that there was no kiss scene but not really a big deal. Really enjoyed this series, especially with the chuunibyou quirkiness and those fight scenes. Gonna miss not having weekly Rikka now. Good job to KyoAni!
Overall giving Chuunibyou an 8/10.

Had no idea what was happening in the first 5 minutes with the chuuni switch. I was surprised for the reason Rikka went chuunibyou. It seemed kind of sudden. Was this foreshadowed in previous episodes?

But I liked it, and how it ended. I realized that I also still have this "self-consciousness." After the 2nd episode I was expecting more chuuni action, but the romantic drama twist in the last half of the show was different and good. 9/10

Perfect ending. Altogether this anime was good. My only complaint is that towards the end there was less comedy and more drama(not too much). Usually this would affect my opinion but not this time. Excellent from start to finish.

That was a really hopeful conclusion. I liked Dekomori's new look, she's one of my favourites no matter what her style may change to. Yuuta was very dramatic in chasing after Rikka at night, I'm very glad that she grew as a person after her chuuni phase and then facing the harsh reality. I can't say that I blame her for not wanting to grow up.

It doesn't always need a kiss but it helps. It soothes me enough that the Wicked Eye is with Dark Flame Master again. This was quite the unique show in my book. I expected the format to be just gags with superbly animated battle scenes in-between but instead it took me down a darker road which held my attention for longer. For that, I'm grateful to have watched this.

That said, I think this show was always on the brink of being amazing, only to fall short. Many scenes almost had me laughing, only to have me smile. Many almost had me in tears, but I was only halfway there. Dekimori and Nibutani were memorable characters but I really came back each week for Rikka and Yuuta. They're great together.

The OP gradually grew on me (it's still odd to watch) and I instantly loved the ED. It felt a little fast-paced during these last episodes but I can't say that I didn't enjoy it. 7/10.

the very last scene, i thought they were going to show yuuta and rikka in an older age (maybe 20 yrs+ or so) with their kid who has the same wild imagination.
dont know why my thought process went that way when i saw that scene

you are not weird i also imagined that too since the title is Eternal Engagement i was expecting Marriage from them
That's understandable, considering how the reunion scene seemed a lot like a chuuni proposal,

"Make a contract with me"
"Are you satisfied with this boring reality? Or will you choose to rewrite it with me?"

Translated it could have meant something like this:

"Marry me"
"Are you satisfied with this boring life? Or will you choose to build a new one with me?"

Of course, they just started high school so it's a bit too early for that stuff...

Why is everyone so obsessed with kiss scene is beyond me. That hug was 10 times more romantic than other anime can muster with a hundred kisses. Get over with it and rate the anime higher already!

Best anime of the season. And while I am at it, let me tell you: actually best anime of the year. A wonderful ending to a wonderful anime. The illustration at the end says "Rebel against Reality" and "Until we meet again!" so I am being a bit too wishful here thinking it might imply at least an OVA, better if another season!

- As for the episode, Kumin-senpai was really funny. I am surprised that Rikka actually shared so many things with Kumin-senpai before she left.

- Isshiki - the poor guy as always had to run his lungs out without any reason. Someone please tell me why he isn't listed as one of the main character? He has been bloody amazing for a sidekick!

- Dekomori needs a season of her own with her hair down. <3

- Nibutani had a lot of development from what she was in the first few episodes, and I like her more than I liked her when Mori Summer was revealed.

- Yuuta finally unleashing the Dark Flame Master at the beach. In another anime, Fukuyama Jun's voice would have sounded kind of gay. But I was so damn impressed when ever he unleashed "Yami no Chikara..."

- Rikka finally being able to say goodbye to her dad was heart-wrenching at the same time heart-warming.

And finally, to see Rikka moving back to the apartment on top of Yuuta's made me realize that it was the right decision to give the anime a 10/10 after the episode preceding this one.

Why don't we think that a first kiss is something just around the corner? When Rikka was a bit too shy and used her pinky to touch Yuuta until just few days before, don't you think jumping at Yuuta's arm was a big enough breakthrough?

10/10

Awesome ending! Definitely best anime of the season (or year). The ending didn't satisfy me though, I honestly want more!! Would happily welcome a 2nd season!
And a kiss scene would be a bit too out of place, so it was better not having it imo. And even if they did, I doubt they would show it.

Overall, I give this show a 10/10. For the embarrassing lulz, the drama and the morals.

lol, definetely you imagine too much :p

Well, in the end the show was ok. There were many nice ideas, but I couldn't really enjoy the show, because they always skipped every upcoming whamp line and turned it into some kind of average comedy/romance, which was a bit disappointing in that way, that it didn't have any impact on me. I watched it, but thats all.
So I come to the conclusion, that I simply don't belong to the aimed viewer group.

One of the best anime's I have watched. Kiss was certainly missing, but those moments the two shared are better. I was expecting more, but I guess this ending is still pretty impressive.

I don't want a season 2, the anime is as good as it can get. I want a longer epilogue. :p

I like how the finale established some sort of middle ground, like it's okay for Rikka to still be chuunibyou, but as long as she doesn't use it to hide from reality. That's something Yuuta could have figured out three days ago. He was doing so well to gradually help her, then he snapped and tried to force her to change all the way.

Stealing Rikka away from her grandfather's house made me facepalm, especially when everyone else shows up to help. I was like "What is he just gonna ride her all the way back to his house and keep her locked up until the swat team takes him down? Did he take her back home after that encounter at the beach?

Considering the irritating and disappointing ride this show's been, the ending was largely benign. 4/5 for the episode, and a 4/10 for the show.

I guess I'll elaborate.

Things I liked about the ending:
- Nibutani's speech struck a chord with me, and summed up what I thought was the most important message of the show. It also proved she was the best character, which was interesting because I initially disliked her.

- The Narrator's speech as well, though it may have been a bit ham fisted it was still nice.

- Dekomori looks really nice with her hair down.

Things I disliked:
- The whole letter thing was a terrible and contrived plot device. Of course, a letter written two years ago had to arrive on the one day he needed a pep talk. If he had received that letter, say, a fortnight earlier he would have scrapped it. Not to mention he was waiting to hear from Rikka, and when his sister tells him he has received a letter he pays it no mind.

- They didn't kiss. I don't know about you guys, but when I watch an anime labelled as romance, I would like some romantic closure.

- There was a distinct lack of closure for any of the other characters as well. They were hinting at a developed relationship between Sanae and Shinka, but we never saw anything. Also, how did they all get there so fast anyways? If they had a car, couldn't they offer Yuuta a ride instead of making him pedal for hours? They'd have passed him on the road, right?

In the end, way too many convenient plot devices just butchered the ending for me. They should have kept this as a romantic comedy, not a melodrama. Leave it to Jun Maeda, Kyoani, you cannot write.

One of the better finales of an anime I've seen, show kept me pretty entertained throughout. I never cared much for Yuuta (but adored Rikka) but he gained my respect in the finale. While kisses are certainly sometimes irritatingly missing from animes, I don't think a kiss was appropriate for this finale. I feel it would have cheapened the moment of her truly and finally accepting her fathers death.
5/5 Finale, 9/10 show. Hopefully the See You at the end means at least a little more to come :).

The show managed to stay a 10/10 just barely. I felt like this episode jumped around far too much, and I had expected more resolution. If they later make a second season then all is forgiven. Something I couldn't help but wonder is what happened to the bag Yuuta was carrying early on? I thought he was going to dress as DFM and act out the whole part. Too many questions...

Although I didn't expect they could pull out something extraordinary about the ending, but I'd say I am satisfied with how it ends already.

Kyo did a good job here when making it all happens in one single final episode. The sweetest part is that Yuuta met Rikka on the roof and the 2 hugged each other, that was enough for me to rate it 9.

Overall I felt like the ending was rather weak, but I know even I couldn't think of something better. So yeah best show of the Fall 2012 anime.

Really great anime series. The scene of Sanae being normal was actually kind of disturbing... Though it seems she isn't fully done being changed into normal. Kumin as the Wicked Eye was kind of weird too... She switches between her true self and her chuunibyou scene though. The episode was deep... It was a near perfect ending. I didn't really expect Rikka to turn into a chuuni because of Yuuta. I always thought it was because of her father's death that she became the Wicked Eye. The scene when she said goodbye to her father was heartbreaking. She finally says it after all these years and made me shed a manly tear. I can not believe the cops chased Yuuta all the way back... Well, it ends with Sanae and Rikka turning back into chuunis. Yuuta is somewhat the Dark Flame Master again. I hope there's a second season...

This was a really nice end. I can't wait to watch this series again. It was funny, cute and heartwarming in all the right spots. We didn't get a nice kissu, but the hug scene with Yuuta on the roof was amazingly adorable. The ending was pretty predictable but that didn't take away my enjoyment of it. I like how it ended on a light chuuni note instead of a depressing one.

Also, normal Dekomori? HHHHNNGGG. Too cute.

I think it was a decent ending. It personally doesn't meet up to the expectations I had for it from the built up of the preceding episodes, but it wrapped up everything nicely. Although, I did think it did felt forced at times. I kind of died a little inside when I saw the normal Dekomori and Wicked Eye Kumin. The change was just.. too sudden. Overall, I enjoyed the series.

Nibutani, once again proving she's the best girl... Gonna go out on a limb and say she might be one of my favorite characters ever. I will instantly throw my money at any doujinshi where Yuuta and Nibutani fall in love.

Gave the series 8/10, really an 8.5 in my book. Might be biased because I wasn't the biggest fan of Rikka but I felt like if you could progress the romance a little more, or not rush character development, this could be a 9.5 or 10/10. Then again, you can only do so much in 12 episodes.

This was pretty good (I gave it a 9 out of 10), but I think there are several animes from this season that are as good or better (allowing for different genres). Yes, I would have preferred to see them kiss, but this is shonen not shoujo so that is a lot less likely and I can't be too disappointed (but I'd better get that in Kamisama H, Sukitte, and Tonari or there will be hell to pay...).

EDIT: Actually, I think they went back to her grandparents' house after the beach "fun" time. If I recall correctly, they went the opposite way than when they arrived to the beach.

Great ending, it didn't feel too rushed as they usually do with short series. It was also pretty satisfying, except for much falling action or as others said, a kiss. Still, it was really great to see the others having helped Yuuta, otherwise they would have been sadly left out.
This series was really hilarious, yet still was really good. It had a nice pace, which is really good as well. I'd like to see an OVA or special for it. Anyway, definitely worth watching.

It's amazing how cute a girl can look with her hair down. Sanae with her hair down has to be the cutest character in the entire show.

I always found her annoying, but in this episode I actually really liked her - and not just because she's cute. She was actually normal and funny in this episode. I LOL'd when Yuuta saw her with her hair down for the first time and didn't recognize her.

I hated Yuuta for not following Rikka at the end of the last episode. It was so obvious that she really needed him and he just let her go alone. At least he finally came to his senses in the last episode. Wow, Yuuta was actually the cause of Rikka's Chuunibyou. Never underestimate the power of Dark Flame Master! LOL

I liked the narration at the end and LOL @ that chef trying to sexually harass Rikka's sister.

Nice ending, nice series, nice all around. Not great, but nice a good way to pass 23 minutes every week.

The character I enjoyed the most episode in and out was Mori Summer. Her progress through the show as the popular cheerleader to the ironic philosopher at the end was always a treat.

A show told from her point of view could be fairly interesting, the high school kid who is figuring out stuff faster than her peers, and because of that can end up being a bit of a sage. The ending with her response to Yuuta's "that's so deep" was classic. I also particularly liked her reunion with her middle school classmates as well as when she gave up around episode five as was cursing people again.

This nails it. Nibutani was wonderful. Week after week, with her few precious seconds of screen time, she turned into a pretty interesting and complex character, which is exactly the opposite of how she presented herself at the beginning. She somehow managed to be perfect -- tireless, iron-willed, so very competent, able to carry the day no matter the challenge -- without being perfect. She has her petty moments, many of them, but she adapted herself, and her situations until things came out right. Kudos to the show's creators for both creating such a neat character, but also for not over-exposing her. For example, we didn't need to see how the festival performance went. That wouldn't have driven the plot. We just know that she made it work. Which gave the lead characters the time they needed to play out such a great story.

I'm not sure that I'd rank this show above Hyouka for best of the year but it was the one show this season that maintained itself from the beginning to the end. This makes me willing to call it the best of the season. Here's to False Summers and Wicked Eyes.

p.s. KyoAni had Kyon kiss Haruhi, which he did with enough aplomb to save the world. So it's not a given that they wouldn't kiss.
