Dr. Takanashi really said "I'm a healer, but..."

I guess it might come in handy for...uncooperative patients.

I felt like watching a indian drama that one can understand everything even without any kind of clue and result. The story is based of real world background so at least this should be on consideration. Trying to make look cool is ok but there is a limit where this all look. After the line it become way too much and instead becomes a source of confusion.

This show is extremely disappointing. I have no idea why people are shilling this. It is thoroughly mediocre. I'm considering dropping it.

Felt better than Ron Kamonohashi cases, where it all feels way too cartoony or over the top and never finds a good groove.

Despite the "detective" here making some quantum leaps on logic, she might just be super familiar with her town and reality which led her to connect the dots quickly. Hard to say yet.

But what this kind of anime really needs is for the "NPCs" to contribute more, and focus less on building a demi-god character while everyone else just watches and looks/sounds confused all the time. It won't lower the character perception if they simply acquire information from other sources outside of the magical voices in their head.

All in all, looks like a fun anime and the team behind it is clearly trying to make something good and fun, which is always a relief.

Overall a good episode IMO. The show has been able to capture my attention so far with the House feel and now this second episode leaned more into the detective aspect. The karate capabilities of Yuu surprised me and I hope they explore this further in the season as well as continue to develop the characters. I’m curious to learn more about her sister and the relationship between the two.

Oh well... I was hoping that this wouldn't be a "genius who instantly solves a ridiculous scenario without communicating anything" type of show and instead focus on slower paced deduction but I guess it is what it is. At least she's cute

This is kinda dumb, kinda fun, was going to call it mostly forgettable and drop it until the last scene of this episode.

Grade A gremlin voice acting in that last interaction with her big sister. I have to imagine the sieyu just cracking up recording that scene.

Really interesting and engaging; it does have some Detective Conan vibes here and there. I love the way it's told, along with all the medical terms, and the style is also great, a detailed anime indeed. I'm excited to see more..

Wow that was the world's shortest episode

This episode was more interesting than the 1st

Quite entertaining watching her just kinda figure all this stuff out. Again, also rather impressed with the accuracy of the diagnosis, and the treatment of it. Local anaesthetic can indeed cause methemoglobinemia, and the treatment is methylene blue. Although, it does seem the blood turning blue is much rarer, with it normally being a brown colour. Not bad at all. Now don't quote me on this, I'm just a bit of a biology nerd, not a doctor.

Still not sure about the t-rex head being able to bite off a leg like that though, doesn't seem possible, but I'll let them have it.

Nice conclusion to the first mystery, and a great introduction. Definitely looking forward to seeing what sort of other shenanigans the team gets up to.

I should have been more precise with that statement. Methylene blue does turn human plasma blue (urine is filtered plasma after all), but the deep red/chocolate brown colour of haemoglobin will likely overpower the blue hue unless the patient is severely anaemic. That said, I would buy an artistic decision to colour the patient's blood a dark blue IF ONLY the methylene blue had actually been given.

I finally found a scientific paper saying what it does

When applying the drug, there may be a “drop” in oxygen saturation, because methylene blue turns the blood blue, and it falsely reduces the saturation value measured via pulse oximetry.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9536159/

So it does indeed stain blood blue. No wait, after doing more digging after what @Adizcool said I used more careful searching and found this in a case report of isobutyl nitril induce methemoglobinemia

Laboratorydata demonstrateda hemoglobin of 15.2 gm/100 ml, a white blood cell count of 9,400/cu mm with a normal differential, an arterial pH of 7.43, a PCO 2 of 30 torr, and a PO2 of 90 torr while the patient was breathing room air. Specimens of arterial blood appeared dark blue. Serum electrolytes revealed sodium of 141 mEq/L and bicarbonateof 20 mEq/L. A serum toxicology screen was negative. Serum alcohols showed an ethanol level of 83 mEq/100ml.
The diagnosis of nitrite-induced methemoglobinemia was made, and the patient was treated with 70 mg methyleneblue IV, 500 mg ascorbic acid IV, and oxygenby nasal prongs. This produceda rapid and marked improvementof the cyanosis, and the patient became calmer and re- oriented. He was admitted to the intensive care unit and had an uneventful clinical course.

So it actually might be correct but im not sure if the stated cause would effect whether it is possible to be blue or not so i guess it's not as inaccurate at first seemed
@traed
Sorry, i'm still confused even more from your citing cause i'm not from this major, so you just verified confirmation from paper about blood can appear dark blue caused by methaemoglobinaemia, but still however as @Crossburn already said it's unlikely appear for this episode case cause haemoglobin chocolate brown color will likely overpower the blue hue unless the patient is severely anaemic, no? Also, just trivial question, are you from medical related major cause it seems @Crossburn came from here?

The plot twist was very bad. The autopsy would have revealed that the cause of death was anoxia and the coroners would have found the whereabouts of the doctor responsible.

I myself just self learn medicine among other interests. I do so by accessing full research papers. Of course since I dont know all the technical terminology Id easily miss things. Methemoglobinemia is caused by high levels of methemoglobin in the blood. This happens by the iron in hemoglobin being converted from the ferrous [Fe2+] iron (II) to the ferric [Fe3+] iron (III) form making methemoglobin. So I'm not sure anemia would or would not make a difference considering the condition involves an iron conversion.

Here is a severe case.
Methemoglobin (MetHb) level of more than 70% is usually fatal. We describe a patient who presented with a very high MetHb level of 91%, after deliberately consuming an insecticide containing biological extracts and previously not known to have caused methemoglobinemia.

The paper describes her blood as dark brown but this blood is also exposed to the oxygen in the vile but I also see a barely noticeable hint of blue in there in the photo so i dont know why some papers describe dark blue blood if it's just difference colour perceptions or an objective difference
https://europepmc.org/article/PMC/3943119

Im seeing a few sources say methemoglobin itself is blue so maybe if someone has a high red blood cell (RBC) count it would look bluer then?

Someone actually working with patients with this condition may better know what their blood looks like. I am tempted to run tests myself but id need to learn some chemistry to change my blood (outside my body lol)

This episode was so bad. I called it too; every other character is here to make he look smart. She did the detectives jobs for them; she needs to switch professions or get on their payroll. What make this episode so bad to me is that it ended up feeling like a Scooby Doo mystery. And he would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for this pesky kid doctor.
This is absolutely nothing like house, Takeo is so childish and immature while being the smartest person in the room, she is rather insufferable.

@Elior21 I didn't say it was the "biggest and dumbest mistake"... just "a little too ridiculous."

The doctor's problem was how to get rid of the leg. Why did he pick the most outlandish and comedic way of doing it?

I'm pretty sure the answer is, "the writers wanted to have some fun with the case." I guess that's fair...

It's like a bank heist movie where the robbers make their getaway in a clown car. Sure, it's not exactly unrealistic, and the movie can give a thorough explanation for that choice, but it's a little goofy, no?

My issue with the T-Rex teeth being used is the plot convince of it. Had she not been planning to see the exhibit then she would have never been able to put everything together. In all honestly, it's just weak writing and wasn't executed well.
