They really threw the ball out of the park when it came to adapting it from the manga! I personally liked the anime-only adapted references, especially from Initial D. So far pretty good!

@Kimurah "a career that takes several years of training and expertise" the author has already told us that he was a medical student from a young age so he has years of experience and anyone who's paid attention to the screen knows he's not just any idiot, but someone who actually knows what he's talking about. unlike you at the moment, how ironic.

the author has given us a reasonable explanation already, don't blame your lack of basic reading comprehension skills on the author. but don't worry, i don't blame you for your stupidity either, i blame the education system for failures like you. just put two brain cells together for once in your life, and you won't be sweating over this anymore. it's that simple.

ROFL

You're making cheap strawman based on education system, but you lack the most basic information about any medical career in the first place.

I had a couple of friends back in college that went for medical branches. They had tons of stories about how time demanding and how physically exhausting both the theory parts and the actual practice parts were to the point of leaving no time for sleep or eating. This isn't a career that you can put a pause on it for a couple of years and just resume where you left it, specially if you invested a lot of time in order to gain the vast knowledge of a complex and expensive hobbie such as underground racing.

How many doctors do you know in real life that are great or at the very least good in their own branches that also were semi profesional underground racer during or before becoming a certified doctor? Yeah, I'll answer that for you, none. Specially since you sound like the kind of kid that spends all your time in your mom's basement watching anime and believing EVERYTHING the author says just because he said it, not because it's plausible or in the slightest way relatable.

Looking at your ridiculous amount of posts in such a relatively short time in this site, makes my point more certain of you being a basement dweller that has no contact with the outside world.

@Kimurah it took you a whole week to think of a reply and you come up with more bullshit? did your mom forget to pay for the internet last week? jeez, thanks for wasting my time and dragging me back to last week's thread when i've moved on to the next, guess your brain isn't the only thing that's as slow as internet explorer LOL. i miss when criticisms were actually valid, now we just have pretentious clowns looking for attention by saying the dumbest shit, you belong on reddit. take some more time, think of a more competent reply, i'll let you come back in a month after you finally process something sensible to say. otherwise, you're not worth anyone's time.

@ryzxgum You're such a forgetable troll that it took me a week to remember a lousy post from an ignorant kid that thinks he knows everything (he actually doesn't know how the outside world works)

Also kudos for ignoring all the points I made about time consumption on an exhausting medical path. But hey, strawmen are the classic responses bottom of the barrel MAL users go for rather than actually refuting with data at hand.

ROFL, you playing football is the most whataboustism kind of reply. But again, I don't expect anything better from the bottom of the barrel MAL users.

@ryzxgum Your poor reading skills and elementary school grammar (or maybe impaired vision) are the perfect excuse for your kind.

Here are the points again so you don't have a lame excuse.

1. Time consumption on a career that requires more years in training than other technical ones.
2. Medical skill learning (handling a scalpel is very different than handling a steering wheel)
3. Implementing new tech in medical fields.
4. Last but not least you providing real data of any doctor that was also a street racer.

@Kimurah jeez fucking christ more roundabouts, get a life. as already said, ryosouke was a medical student, now in his late 40s or early 50s, he has more than enough years to train for that. the other points are redundant and with over two decades, more than enough time to keep adapting to change.
john hinds is a doctor who's a racer? now if you try to degrade motorcycle racing, i'll have the biggest laugh ever.

@ryzxgum

For starters:

John Hinds specialty was anaesthesia, not surgical procedures, that's a huge difference in skillsets. Secondly there isn't that much story about his pro racing career on the wiki.

Ryosuke could be in his 50s or even 60s but that means jack shit. He lost his early years as a street racer (you know the years where it's more convenient for the body to absorb new data and skillsets). No one in their right mind would get under the scalpel on someone that got their medical certificate in their 40s, specially on the surgeon branch since you need to be in your top shape to have the precise eye hand coordination, shaky hands are just a no-no in the medical field.

GTFOH

i didn't read any details about this other than it was a racing anime. i enjoyed tf out of Initial D. and the art on the MAL page kind of reminded me of that. the mc's design kind of reminded me of Initial D, too. i thought the mention of the "86" was just an ode to Initial D - a tip of the cap, if you will. or maybe that the 86 is a really, really popular racing car in Japan (idk lol). and during the downhill portion of this race i'm thinking, "eh, not quite as good as the Initial D racing". when he drove through the one village (it was only a few homes on the road - maybe not an actual "village"), i even thought it kind of reminded me of the tofu shop (but a lot of background scenes in anime look like that, so i didn't think anything more)

but then as he drifts around that turn i was like "yea, that's more like what i want to see" but before i can even finish my thought they flash the ol' 86 from Initial D and i literally say outloud to myself: GTFOH

i had no idea. that's pretty awesome. now that i've looked only slightly more into it, and realize there is a connection to Initial D, i'll have to pay more attention to the names and see how well i can piece the characters together haha

@Kimurah if you wanna sweat over semantics, then be my guest, not like i give a shit. where did he lose years? 3 or 4 years while racing only at night? we're acting like he doesn't have a daytime life to do anything else now? everyday i thank god, for not making me as close-minded as mal users.

Hell yeah, glorius good ol' eurobeat OP! That opening is just perfect for this show, Jungle on Fire is reminiscent of the Initial D's many eurobeat tracks. All racing anime should adopt some form of eurobeat style music to their OST, in fact, everything should. The ED is a massive contrast with a calmer pace and more relaxing visuals, but both are excellent representations of a racer on the race and the racer going back home.

Seems like Ryosuke is a surgeon like he always aimed to become. So let me get this straight. Not only is he a surgeon, he's also the director of the hospital that his father owns/manages, but he's also the top boss of this MFG motorsport event. Damn, he has went far beyond the fleet of vans with "Project D" insignia plastered on them.

Here we see what Kanata is made of, as was implied, he was a student under the one and only legendary Takumi Fujiwara. As such, it's only right that he inherits the number 86 on a Toyota GT86 no less. Yet again the 86 faces cars are far above its specs now with the GT86 facing cars with the likes of the 911, 718, GTR, Huracan, R8 and more. Clearly, he has the skills and instinct to drive as Takumi does, now the bigger question is, how will he win over these modern high-performance supercars? This isn't your ordinary Silvias and Evos! Let's see where the show takes the story...

I've only watched 2 eps so far. and I think the show is okay, the racing part is actually enjoyable, but the plot is kinda meh. Mc comes to Japan & joins the Racing tournament to find his dad, I had no problem with this. BUT, since his mother died so I kinda wish if the MC car Toyota 86 GT was his family heirloom or at least related to his father not just a random car that he borrowed from his teacher (takumi) acquaintance. And also since this is not street racing but a tournament, they lack of explanation for the regulations/rules of the tournament, so kinda confusing at first.
