Got to know more about Arisa's past with Tohru and her mom. Also, Tohru was so cute in this episode.

This episode really got me. I could relate a great deal to Uo-chan's past and when Kyoko talked about rock bottom, it felt like her words were being directed right at me. I definitely needed this in my life right now.

Pretty cool backstory. I never expected I would like Tohru's mom so much; it's very unfortunate that she suddenly died

I would say the story of Arisa impressed me more than many of the other episodes as it touched two points that I find particularly important in life.

1) Kyoko and Tooru's kindness to take care of Arisa when Arisa was going through a difficult period, was a key element for Arisa to heal her inner wounds. I agree and can confirm at any time that it is only kindness and love that can heal such wounds!

2) It is impressing but so real that kindness and inner strength are contagious! It certainly requires a lot of patience and dedication from the persons that foster it so that they can pass it on to others, but it definitely worth the effort! In this case, Arisa changed thanks to the support and love she received from Tooru and Kyoko. This led to Arisa taking care of her own father as well and building an authentic bond with him. It moved me so deeply to see that man, who has suffered not only the loss of his wife but also the rejection of his own daughter, a little bit comforted and given some of the love every human being deserves! I can't tell why I cared so much about what was happening to him (maybe because he was trying to cope with the situation despite the difficulties while he was not such a strong person), but I felt so relieved that things became better for him as well! I couldn't help crying!

A supplementary observation: It seems to me that Kyoko's kindness and attitude toward life somehow stemmed from her turbulent past. However, I feel that Tooru's kindness is something natural, like a powerful gift. Of course, I don't want to belittle Tooru's efforts, I'm very aware that a gift can be lost if not fostered. Yet it was so surprising for me how naturally it came to Tooru to think about making a cookie for Arisa too! I shamefully admit, it might not happened to me if I was in her place, or at least I would have had to reason a lot before coming with such an idea ๐Ÿ˜…! It's so heartwarming to see goodness so well rooted in a person's soul!
"The me today will not ever make the future me to regret!"

Arisa’s backtory was very well done. I’m most satisfied with seeing how Tohru’s mother played such a big role in helping to fix Arisa’s life. I’m glad they’re friends. I wondered early on why Arisa was so into being Tohru’s friend, but now I understand that it’s literally because she helped change Arisa’s life completely.

This episode was really good. I was starting to lose interest but this brought me back. Also, the shot of Kyoko coming to the rescue of Uo-chan was really good. looking forward to seeing Hana's past now.

felt this was more kyoko episode than uotani for some reason.
the moment where kyoko died though could be more emotional though...

hope to see more of uotani now, here backstory makes her more interesting.

Really, just the last episode continued.

It as so good to see how Arisa had chosen the right path, and how Tohru and her mother had actually really saved her. It makes me happy.

Uo's backstory episodes have been a high point in this remake in general, but that moment where she's being carried back on Kyoko's back and tells her that she wants to be someone Tohru would be proud to call her best friend? Uo's voice actor really killed that line. That delivery is what made me just about tear up.

As someone who didn´t ready the manga i wasn´t expecting at all a better explanation of Uotani´s past. Really glad they did though. It is a really emotional episode and my second favorite until now. Love her and Kyoko-san!

I love whenever their friendship is the main focus. This episode enhanced my love for Arisa. Alongside Kyo, my favorite characters.
I hope we see more of her because she is a lovely character with a fantastic backstory. Showing us from her lowest point to where she is now. Thanks to the help of, as always wonderful, Tohru and Kyouko. I love their family dynamic.
I can't wait to see Saki's backstory. I'm so excited ^.^
Another great episode! I've been enjoying this a lot.

Apparently I've relaxed a bit these days, since these episodes keep bringing on the emotions. I mean it's a good thing no one walked in while I was watching, otherwise I would have to explain. Even though I kinda expected Kyoko to appear when Arisa was taking her beating, the image of the Crimson Butterfly on top of the hill was extremely powerful. Then switching right to her carrying Arisa home was great- no need to even show the gang dispersing or putting up resistance. Then the flood of tears (from Arisa I mean, of course) sealed the already done deal for me. Who hasn't expressed this kind of regret for something foolish that they've done? Mostly in younger days. But these experiences are bound to become the nourishment for you to grow in life. Kyo's words, not mine. Songs of Innocence. Songs of Experience. Songs of life.

On a lighter note :) when Tohru and Arisa were studying together the "arrival of Perry-san" question led me down an internet rabbit hole on maritime history for like an hour. I didn't expect to get a history lesson while watching Fruits Basket!

I didn’t think the follow to Arisa talking about her past concerning with Tohru would almost bring me to tears but jeez it certainly knows how to tug at my heartstrings. This was such a beautiful episode, just goes to show that a delinquent like Arisa could be changed just because of Tohru and of course her mum, the latter which she looks up to. God Arisa had one hell of a beating from the gang she used to be with and it would’ve gotten a lot worse had Kyoko hadn’t intervened when she did. It just holds so much weight to Arisa’s relationship with Tohru altogether because again Kyoko is basically the mother that she never had and it just gives her more incentive to be friends with her daughter after the beatdown she endured.

Kyoko was such a sweet mother and her words really mean a whole lot not only to Arisa in general but to me as well, this episode was just so emotional. The three delinquent girls were hilarious and did provide some comic relief to balance the dramatic stuff happening throughout the episode. And I think they’ve become fangirls to Arisa now. XD

Absolutely marvellous episode for me. My personal favourite of this show so far.

We got more details about Uo-chan's story, and though it was really cute, I'm starving for more development in Yuki and Tohru's relationship. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Love Uo-Chan's backstory. It really helps to flesh her out as a character and make her care for her friendship with Tohru and Kyoko

This mini Uo arc gave us hindsight to her scolding her dad for drinking. Such a great and emotional mini arc that shows how much the kindness of a person can change the lives of others. Kyoko changed Uo, and by extension her dad. Beautiful arc.

People trying to sabotage Uo and Tohru's friendship, simply because they're "too different to get along".

The three wannabe delinquents looking up to Uo! That was hilarious! And I wonder if their admiration for Uo will guide them on a better path.

Tho I find the frame narrative stupid, Uo's flashback to her delinquent days, her wish to change and how it ties into her friendship with Tooru and her mother is actually quite beautiful. I do love me some delinquent anime, but usually they never stick the landing or are just a parody of itself (Cromartie High for life), I become very happy to find these shorter stories hidden in places you don't necessarily expect to see them. Not only that, it's actually better handled than the full scale stories that dedicate their whole narrative to these themes and motifs. A pleasant surprise.
