After a little bit of a shaky start to episode (first few minutes) I was concerned. However, it looks like it was misplaced. The later half of the episode was both interesting, exciting and had some pretty cool visuals.

My favorite part was seeing Excalibur thrust into the lake and seeing it rise.

Btw... Did anyone else picture this every time they mentioned Excalibur?

Kirito was more perverted in the Manga/LN, thats why I also want a complete Aircard reboot.

A bit meh to be honest. The introductions to other arcs have caugh my attention more. I hope that next episode will be much better.

Asuna in the bathtub scene showed a lot more than I expected. Was that in the novels? Not that I'm complaining.

The episode was okay.... I guess?
It sort of reminded me of the special they put out last December, I guess we're gonna have a 2 episode filler arc before MR? I'm glad I don't mind ALO as much as many here.

Watching them all interact was interesting, but I always thought the girls were more aggressive with Kirito than what was shown, and maybe Asuna would've been a bit more... possessive of him than what we've seen?

Oh well... can't wait to check out MR, since I already know what's gonna happen for this arc.

Second episode in a row that I'm kind of disappointed about... Episode 14.5 was just a summary of episodes 1-14 and this episode (15) was just a filler of what is to come in episode 16 (and 17?)...

The beginning was quite promising in my opinion, making that epic reunion and how they fly to the dungeon. But everything went downwards when the quest giver arrived, and just fucked up the other part of the episode... 3/5

Asuna in the bathtub was filler, I guess A-1 added it because they felt bad all the fanservice was going to Sinon.

I was hoping and praying that it didn't crash and burn and I'm pretty sure it's heading in that direction.
Why SAO why you were doing so well

(In my opinion, both ALO arcs are unnecessary so far. The first one definitely, and this one seems to be going that way)

I am not a fan of the ALO stories. I guess this anime ends here for me ^^

There is one more episode in ALO, then they port back to SAO for the final arc.

So they go back to SAO? But wasn't SAO destroyed after Aincrad Arc? Or did The Seed completely recreated the whole castle with all floors?

The Caliber side-arc. Anyway, maybe it is also the worst episode so far in all SAO seaons. Not because it was "bad", but because it is really like a side story. Maybe when they're back in SAO it's gonna be better, I also prefer SAO to ALO. Happy that all characters are togehter, I was hoping for that :) I guess there ain't gonna be something wrong as Kirito said something about the GM have to react if the quest would be kinda suspicious.. Let's see what happens, but honestly said, I miss the cliffhanger about what is going to happen next. It is not really present after the Phantom Bullet arc. Little bit sad, maybe the worst part in SAO. But let's see how it goes on and what more information we get... And hopefully they will solve the quest ;)

And this is why I give my middle finger to A-1 for the first season. Asuna was one of the most developed characters in the series and they gave her no personality in the anime. She's seen as a dependent woman wanting Kirito's D, but they never go back and remind the audience she's vice-leader of one of the largest front line guilds in Aincrad. And pretty much omitted every single badass thing she's done in that arc.

I like the start of the arc, but it wasn't like any tensions or feeling like the 1st 14 episodes in the 1st half. That was funny when Kirito grabbed Sinon's tail and give it a good smile XD. As for the OP and ED, pretty much I like the OP, but I guess the ED could have been a bit better.

The Calibur arc now starts.

There are areas that are designated as no-fly zones, the anime never said anything about it though. But usually you aren't able to fly in dungeons and only in the outside.

I will never talk crap about any anime, I like SAO a lot, but it seemed really childish and immature this episode, comparing to how mature it has been. But I feel the whole ALO thing is maybe aimed toward the younger audience.

such stills to tell the story of Kirito and Leafa's first trip to Jotunheimr and meeting Tonkii in less than a minute - quite the bad way to adapt an event all they way from LN volumes 3 & 4 - oh well, I wasn't expecting a decent explanation anyway

rest of the episode was boring with some cringey lines - not even the still of Kirito grabbing Sinon's tail was worth much

2/5 I dislike this episode.

Well, that was a nice birthday present, wasn't it!!
I am very happy with this episode, and am looking forward to see the rest :)
The nice thing about this new part is that it doesn't start too slow, we are immediately confronted with the problems and get a clear idea of what's going on. In stead of making three introductary episodes or so, only one was used!
Not only was the speed of development very good, also the content was exactly right! During the episode, I never had the chance to be uninterested, because there was something happening all the time. But, even though the episode was ful of interesting content, it did not become a mess. Everything was clear and well balanced!
Next to the visuals of the episode, I am also very glad that the backgroundmusic gets a bigger role again. In the last storyline, GGO, I wasn't really happy with how little the music expressed itself, and even though the same tracks are being used as in season 1, the music gets much more attention than the last arc. I hope that this continues!!

To conclude all this, I think that it was a great episode to start with and I hope that it will continue this way!!!

Yes, I checked on SAO wikia and it says Alicization Arc is the fourth.

Alicization probably won't be adapted (even as a third season) due to the sheer amount of material. The Alicization arc is longer than the rest of the novels combined and isn't even over to boot.

If we're going at the 6 episodes/volume pace that the anime have been going with, it'd take about 35 episodes to adapt what have been adapted so far and doing it at that pace would be an extremely bad idea so I'd say it'd need four cours (48 episodes) for them to do something decent out of it and the arc wouldn't even be over by then.

It is a shame though because SAO is all about Alicization, the rest being pretty mediocre (except MR, imo). Alicization is to ALO what Magi is to Naruto.

Bleagh, too much unnecessary fanservice in this episode (and ending). I mean, fanservice is fine, and there's way more they could put in to the point that it's just silly (High School of the Dead, anyone?), but did we really need to see Asuna in the bathtub, or a butt shot of Sinon, or the flashback scene from season 1 where Silica almost flashed her panties? Did we really need any of that??

Still, it was nice to see the gang just doing some standard MMO stuff (until they inserted the whole plot thing).
