THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Man, Any doubts I had about this anime are gone. First episode delivered BIG TIME.

Really strong usage of what I would call hallucinations, where Casshern literally daydreams the moments when
. Action scenes, of course, is the strongest side of this anime. Man, It was a long time, since I saw something like THAT.

Can I call this a sleeper-success already?

I was quite impressed by this first episode. I was expecting nothing, but I liked it a lot.

The chara-design reminds me of Saint Seiya, though. ^^;

Impressive visuals. Personally, I was expecting less but so far it looks like we'll have a great anime this autumn and winter.

@KuroRinX
You're probably asking for fansub. There's no subtitled version avaiable atm, only raw.

Oh man.I LOVE the art and animation of this! I never saw Casshern BUT I love the theme and like one person said THE LANDSCAPE is breathtaking but VERY DEPRESSIVE. Sort of like Terminator series.

Poor Ringo getting into such a fight..STUPID ROBOT!

HIGHLIGHTS:
This somehow made me NOSTALGIC.

COOL POSE
Oops! I appear to be incapable of following Rules 16 and 17, so I had to have a mod change my sig for me.

I can't really judge by the raw episode alone, but I certainly liked what I saw. I'm enjoying the old school character designs and the dystopian setting so far so I have high hopes.

The way that Casshern's speed and power are portrayed really drive home how powerful he is (at least against those that we've seen).

So this is supposed to be a remake of the original series, right? So if I watched that series, then this'd follow the same storyline?

No. this is a reboot of storyline. As far as we have seen from Episode one, a lot of things are different and SINS is a lot more darker than previous versions.

In original Casshern

In Sins follow quite a different storyline.

This episode was really good. I've been anticipating this show for two months now. Even longer if you count since the live action movie came out. This episode delivered on all fronts for me. This series is going to be good.

Shinsen and Umai.

I loved it. The art style is beautiful (thanks to Madhouse) but I'm worried about the story (thanks to Madhouse).
I've only seen a couple eps raw of the original Casshan but I liked it. This seems like a good adaptation of it. It's much darker however. (That's a good thing)

Given Casshern's appearance I could not help but think "man, Suzaku has really developed a mean streak lately" while watching the first part of the episode. Outside of that though it was a pretty good episode. I'm not convinced that I'll actually end up watching the series from it, but I'll give it a few more episodes to see where it goes.

Kind of disappointed. First didn't like the OP (Animation and music), the sound effects sound like it was from some 90s anime and nothing much happened in the first episode :/

WE can sum, up pretty much all the anime with similar phrases.

For one we got pieces of interesting puzzle of world end in this episode:
- A meeting and whatever happened during it is the cause of that.
- Meeting was between Casshern and person named Luna
- Casshern implied on wanting to kill her.
- Whatever happened there, caused the current state of the world and will, most likely be an ongoing mystery.

Also we learn that pretty much every robot despises Casshern for what happened to the world, that Casshern, for some reason, has no memories of his life, that he has strong psychological problems(The whole hallucinations thing) and that there's someone gar, bad and badass bent on hunting him down.

As for starter episode we got a strong insight on what Casshern's personality and character is, we got introduced to the world and we got some plot lines started. I say thats pretty much enough to be crammed into one(FIRST) episode, not to mention the perfect animation quality and quite good ominous soundtrack, fitting the cyberpunk feel of first episode.

I did! XD Does anyone know who it is that voices Casshern?

Anyway, I really liked the art style and animation. The story was kind of hard to follow at first, though. Also, the OP and ED are great. I'm definitely going to watch this show every week.

That was a solid first episode.
I have to admit that I was a bit bored during the first five or so minutes when all that was going on was "Casshern fighting robots that say they want to kill/devour Casshern," (and I like a good action scene as much as the next fan) but it got interesting afterwards. There are a couple of mysteries, the story with Lingo/Ringo was adorable (fairly standard but well-done; I liked the use of sea shells and the child's laughter) and the general atmosphere is quite intense. That, together with the fact that the action sequences looked great, means I'll definitely stick with it for some more episodes. I'm not entirely convinced yet, but this show definitely has the potential to become one of the season's best.

It's so jarringly 70's I don't know that I'll get over it. Quality of animation is great, but it just feels so old and so done before...plus that girl was annoying.

Flashbacks =! hallucinations. Although this vivid variety is kind of borderline.

Also, I wasn't that impressed. Yes, there's a mystery, yes, Casshern is good at killing robots, yes the world is desolate, yes we found out that Casshern is not much into emoting, and doesn't seem to be bothered by killing except when others are bothered, but none of this 'got' me. I was intrigued by the woman who kept popping up out of nowhere. I'll probably watch the next episode, too.

Oh god, Spinzaku doesn't deserve this much screen time.

Good action and fight scenes, and pretty boring part with that girl in the middle. Must say that she was annoying. Looking for more of a plot. I'll continue for a while but I didn't like two things: a)I didn't like the character designs, and b)Casshern looks way too much like Spinzaku.
