THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It´s out on stream for East/South Asia, I watched it through an Indonesian proxy on youtube.
I liked episode 2 a lot.
Some nice twists here and there, the execution felt a little lacking though.
Did not have the impact episode 1 had, but that was to be expected.
Maybe it´s because I saw it on a 360p stream, dunno.
Definitely gonna rewatch it RAW when someone uploads the 720p TV rip.

Both the AGE system and the enemies in Gundam AGE seem to have a lot of common to be coincidence.. (they both remind me of the evolutionary Vajra in Macross Frontier.)

Anyway, the second episode felt much less "childish" than the first one as the battles are about the start and we are starting to see conflict between the "adults".

P.S: I had a chuckle when it became obvious that Gundam AGE system was inserted into the series to encourage the young viewers to start the habit of purchasing gunpla models. XD

Well, at least it shows that they're honest and straight up when it comes to selling gunpla, especially if you look at the commercials before, during and after AGE.

So that new purple haired girl is some kind of newtype equivalent? I wonder if there's going to be a masked Char clone (unless Grudech's glasses count...).

I like the sound that the DOTS rifle makes.

Animation is still top notch besides the character design. And I agree with that it's reminding of Gundam X. Even Grudech looks a lot like Jamil and not only that but he's as cool as him, handling those coward feddies like nothing~ Nice one :D

Agreed with the Gundam X vibes. Anywho, besides blantant Gunpla advertising, I thought this was better than Episode 1. Still has a long way to go, though.

It was definitely better than episode 1. And yes there were Gundam X similarities, but even with a few minutes of screen time its clear Yurin will be a different character than Tiffa. She seems to be more in touch with her feeling and didn't freak out like a crazy.

I am all for the Gundam Age system if it means we will get less boring fights consisting of nothing but beam spam.

I hate useless female characters like Emily who run around thinking they can be useful. I guess it's better than her being a bitchy action girl though. Other than that this was a pretty decent episode. I'm totally rooting for FlitxYurin btw.

This is a LOT better than the first episode in imo. Emily is brave one thats for sure or is she uncontrollable?.lol. The new girl is a newtype situation or part of UE? I really hate the fact that they were forced to bank on the Gundam this early on but oh well. I like the sound of the AGE system as well. Grodek pulled a fast one and its great that he did cuz the people on the colony core would would have gotten f'd over. Overall, not much to say other than its an improvement for me over the first tho the animations, they simply not putting any effort into them...oh wait, maybe when the AGE builder was activated.lol.

4 out of 5 for this episode.

The part where Grodek manually changed the crew info and practically hijacked the Diva for himself is interesting. Seems like he might not be the good guy everyone expects him to be. It's surprising that the crew are catching up to this discrepancy somewhat already (at least the girl who was with the commander last is having some suspicions)

This second episode deepens the background and the plot a lot and adds a good deal of complexity to the adult characters (the younger ones being left out for the moment but they will surely grow... later) while retaining part of its childish feel. Still, strangely enough, AGE is one of the Gundam series closest to the Tomino ones I find, and seems almost old school in its construction compared to 00 and SEED for example, which is a good point imo. I really enjoyed this second episode and I'm definitely starting to get a feel of what could happen next in the plot of this series. It's not going to be such a happy story I think (more of a Victory/Ideon material).

In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same.

- I hope Grodek is the bad guy just because he seems like an awesome character.
- The AGE system is awesome ~~
I'm really enjoying this anime~ ~
I wonder if it will be split into shorter 2 seasons like 00 or keep with the tradition of being around 50 ?

I'm guessing it will be around 50 since there's gonna be three different generations and this one doesn't look like it will be ending any time soon. Could be wrong though since they haven't released any information regarding episode number.

There needs to be at least 50 episodes to give each generation enough screen time.

Ugh Emily is god damn annoying. Who the fuck does she think she is? "BAWWW MY LITTLE BOYFRIEND IS IN DANGER SO I WILL GO BOARD THE CLASSIFIED MILITARY VESSEL I HAVE ZERO ACCESS TOO SO I CAN GIVE HIM MORAL SUPPORT LOLOLOLOL." Typical female character who thinks her beloved male lead can't handle shit himself. Female characters like that should just stay in the kitchen.

hmm, isn't the AGE system a bit too technologically advanced? It's so outlandish it's bordering on fantasy. I mean, where did the laser power source come from? Spinning beam? This is not something you can do by simply molding metal lol.

Then again, telepathy and GN-particle fiasco from previous franchise titles are not necessarily more believable....

What is this? Black technology from the Whispered? Isn't Flit a bit TOO smart for his age?

So we can assume this is a type of series where adults are useless....

Have to watch more to determine.

These UE better be piloted by people otherwise this will be the worst shit Gundam has ever been put through. How can you have a decent mecha show without the main character getting PTSD from realizing he's blowing up other people when he gets into his fancy suit? If they eliminate that, they eliminate the reason for Bright slaps and basically the entire ideal of Gundam that humans are selfish creatures who create war.

If they want to do aliens they should take the Macross approach. Make them different but the same. Hearing a variation of YAK DECULTUREEEEE in Gundam from their wacky aliens would be great. Too bad we get some enemy that's even less personified than the Vajra in Macross Frontier.

Well, I also have to said that Yurin is cute, but there is indeed something special about her.
She can predict a bit in the future.
That's new type of girl don't show up in OP & ED thought, so that's kind of surprised.
Well I won't be surprised that she is one of the enemy thought, but still have seen that plots somewhere else if it's that way.
She is actually looks like a nice female character.

Emily huh?
They show her in OP & ED so she probably will be a lot in the anime.

I would say "DAMN FLIT YOU BASTARD" for have that girl like that with him.
But what I can say is that this mecha is incredible, also, what the hell happened with the old man? (commander).
Yurin seems a nice girl, her ability also is something good for the future plot, let's just hope she isn't the enemy, like Blackbird said.

He said he would stay behind so basically he will most likely die since that whole "escape route made especially for commanders" was a lie.

she's in the OP.. at about 2:56 in this episode.. and to us, she's more of a Newtype equivalent (no pun intended)..

as of now, i'm only interested at the true motives of Grodek.. is he a good guy for saving the citizens of Nora (btw, this is another Gundam cliche of "Use main battleship to help evacuate citizens from colony") or does he have other motives for trying to get the ship and the position as Captain for himself? also, AGE system seems a bit too hax.. but we'll keep seeing the Gundam change a bit every time..

So Flit built the Gundam and the AGE system?
Smart kid. Too smart though that he kind of makes the adults dumb.
Animation is cool though.
And I missed the sound effects like the footsteps and the warning beeps.
Looking at the OP, I'm looking forward to the weapons the AGE system will throw out as long as it's not too hax.

Why does Flit always sounds so clueless? He built the gundam yet he doesn't seem to know much about it. The Gundam X resemblance is kinda creepy. At the moment it's like Gundam X set in space.
I was sooooo waiting for a cool rifle to come, and it did!!
I agree that the names sound weird...well that's what makes the shown slightly enjoyable to watch.

sorry to disappoint. he is a wiz kid, but he ain't that uber smart like what you are referring to, he didn't built all from scratch, don't you remember the memory unit her mother gave him, that contain the blueprints for a mobile suit, and if the Gundam is not complete w/o the age builder, that means that what is inside that memory unit is the whole plan for the Age System w/c includes our Gundam & the Age Builder.
The question is, where did his mother got that memory unit? ^^

well Flit isnt needed as a pilot anymore, they can just use the Age system to mass produce better and better gundams for their expireinced soldier. plus it makes flits gundam obsolete. two episodes and the gundam is obsolete that has got to be a record

oh yeah i forgot, Flit's family, Asuno family are creators of mobile suits for generations, its in his blood so he's bound to create something like Gundam afterall, and that also answers the question i incited above as to where his mother got the memory unit, its their family's afterall

oh, i may have been not watching but did they state they can create mobile suits using the AGE builder?, aren't it just produce weapons?

I think they mentioned that the AGE builder builds better weapons as the Gundam gains experience. So I think the only one that can use the weapons is the Gundam.

I haven't seen much of the Gundam series, so I don't really have much to compare to, though I can agree that the mobile suit designs aren't as becoming as past series. I liked this episode, though Emily is starting to get a tad bit annoying. Just a little. And is that Yurin girl some sort of psychic or what? (To be honest I'm already starting to ship Flit/Yurin. I'm such a shipper. u_u;;)

Hopefully the anime starts going more into the grim and the dark!...Though seeing the target audience, it's probably impossible, huh. xD

I liked the episode, definitely better than the first. I really like the idea of the AGE system adapting weapons to better fight the enemy, will be interesting to see how it plays out when the inevitable Char clone shows up in his own big bad Mobile Suit.

Oh, and I really like Yurin, seems like she could be very interesting.

I interpreted the whole "escape route especially for commanders" simply as a spin on the whole "captain goes down with the ship" deal.

Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam Zeta, Gundam Double Zeta... They all have children as the main characters. This trend is definitely not new, though these past shows were aimed for older group of audience due to violence, politics, romance, etc. :P

Well, EVERY Gundam protagonist in a TV series is a teenager, except Domon and Setsuna in 00 S2. I think this person just thinks Flit is younger than he actually is, even though he's 14 which is the same age as Judau and older than Uso.

With his 'first gear', both sides just blasted at eachother and caused no damage. Then, it's revealed he developed mecha 'evolution'... I guess it's gonna make the fights shorter, but instead consist of him having trouble with something the first time, but whenever after that, have the 'perfect weapon' against it, therefore making it easy.

So, AGE System = Tokusatsu show-like? It's going to create stuff to adapt to battle?

Would that also include the armor (AGE 2 and 3)?

All that ability in a capsule!

The word "Dots" is strange though.
