AbemaTV streamed the first episode today. That was a bit awkward imo, at least the first meeting between Leo and Riselia. Looks like this show has some depth about its background story although we only know what happened some 1000 years ago. The show takes itself somewhat seriously but there were also cartoony moments that felt weak. Animation quality also seemed average, nothing groundbreaking. So far, they're establishing a main story so episodes are going to build off of that. |

ABEMA airs 1 week ahead of TV broadcast, Episode 1 releases early and is only available on Premium Pay-per-view. HIDIVE will follow alongside the TV broadcast release next Mon EDT/Tue JST. Finally, the Fall season starts with this show...a fantasy reincarnation of all things from the author of Seireitsukai no Blade Dance a.k.a Bladedance of Elementalers (of which TNK's anime adaptation existed 9 years ago); this work is the newest. At the tail end of the Demons falling into ruin, the Lord of the Underworld's Undead King of Azra-Ael, Leonis, being the only Demon Lord left, concedes to the humans in defeat, awaiting his return when the time comes. And that time comes when two girls, Regina Mercedes and Riselia Ray Crystalia, come to find his tomb, which the latter accidentally revealed the mausoleum hiding him, being the child who is manifested from Roselia, which Riselia is helping him release his seal since it has been 1000 years. The problem is, Leonis is reincarnated as a 10-year-old kid whom Riselia pampers him quite a bit, though she knows nothing about his reputation and was instead tasked to investigate on the Void creatures, of which one appeared. As Selia drags Leonis out, more Void creatures appear, of which one wyvern-class monster killed Selia in the process, and more appear to surround them. Thankfully, Leonis has not forgotten his Demon Lord powers, and decimates the Voids while healing Selia back to health, though she does not know of sorcery powers, which Leonis goes along to know what's going on. Taking Leonis as abandoned kid, both girls take him back to the city: humanity's last stronghold of the 7th Assault Garden. A decent start knowing the tropes that have been carried over from one of the guilty pleasure shows that I watched many years ago. |

Well, been hearing a lot of mixed reviews for this one for a long time. The LN is one of the few fantasy stories that people say is just straight up bad and not worth reading. Heard many say that it only has fanservice and hot girls going for it, but honestly that’s more than enough lol and I think they’re being harsh. Liked the first episode a lot. Yes. it's a show, and I see that for this first episode, it's a pretty exciting start to follow. As a fan of fantasy anime, this includes stories with other adaptations of demon king, of course there are many stories like this out there, but I will try to follow it in the future. |

Just watching anime on AbemaTV yesterday, and yahh it was good... I like the art style, especially for female character Crystalia design was so beautiful really... I was reading LN before but this chara design is better than LN. For prologue, hmmm I think it's quite confusing because I don't really understand about why Magnus got sealed. |

The world building and character backgrounds are interesting. The comedy is more on 2 perverted onee-sans teasing OP shota, which are insanely hilarious. XD ‘Dark Lord of the bedroom’ - Regina description of Leo. The biggest issue of the LN is that the fights are very predictable. Either the onee-sans fight them off or Leo comes in and save the day. I would rate the LN 5/10. Personally, I would recommend Seven Spellblades or Silent Witch to other LN readers unless they have run out of LNs to read. >_> And calm down with Riselia! At the current rate, you will be licking the screen whenever she appears! D: I am aware that Riselia is as likeable as Inglis from Hero-King. >_< |

Finally got around to watching this one to kick off the Summer season. After a millennium of being in a magical stasis, the Dark Lord Leonis awakens to find himself inexplicably inhabiting the body of a ten-year-old boy! He swiftly encounters Riselia, a girl locked in a battle against the Voids, creatures that have nearly wiped out humanity. Driven by a resolve to unravel the enigmas of this unfamiliar era, Leonis accompanies Riselia and her partner Regina to head over to the Seventh Assault Garden. ABEMA stays getting some exclusives this year, last season being Liar Liar, and this season this show and another show later tomorrow. But I digress. Typically, when a demon king is reincarnated into the future, or any long-lived protagonist, they tend to be a walking calamity, a constant source of confusion, or often lack basic common sense, all for comedic effect. This show has potential and I await to see our trio's adventures from here. Also Chiai Fujikawa's OP song is kind of a banger ngl. Wouldn't be a anime season without the typical fantasy reincarnation, so for right now it has a chance to grow on me. |

Premise wasn't too bad, had a lot of potential. However, with the genre and all, and how the episode developed that potential quickly disappeared. Going to drop this if it doesn't get better during episode 2. |

Pretty good start. Reborn demon lord has been done to death but this having a sort of futuristic fantasy setting makes it a bit more interesting. The CG isnt too bad an eyesore since the colours blend well just the movement seems off as usual. I like the overall framing of scenes and choice of colours and i like the music. |

A wonderful and great adaptation from the first episode. Nice high quality chicks—ahem, character designs. They finally animated the characters to such high quality, that it's really eye-catching in every scene we get. Including the fluffy dog? earlier. Additionally, I'm fond of Leon's reactions. (I'm getting tired of "young man" being the MC. We finally got another "little boy/s?" as the MC's physical appearance) A series where they don't skip the "every bit" of monologues of the characters, especially the MC's, which was a nice change of pace to have. (as most of the other series I usually get to watch, mostly or totally skipped them, and make the experience so bad of watching the story so bad, it's unbearable.) I have nothing to hate nor dislike at the moment as it's simply the first episode, and I do hope they wouldn't even skip any part of the story for the convenience of ending it to the ideal ending-point of the story, which will, ultimately, destroy the audiences experience towards the series. P.S. This is not isekai. Only Reincarnation. Also, I do hope we get to have more world-building from this series. The premise is good enough to expect something great out of it. |

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it, is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service. |

@Marinate1016 true, hot waifus and fanservice would be usually enough for this type of show, however, the first ep already had the fanservice toned down a lot. The manga and LNs are both pretty ecchi, so Passione has failed us with the anime. |

Ntm it's by studio Passione too, yet it's already toned down? Lol idk what they were thinking. People already weren't interested in this show, and now the ecchi is getting censored too. Even Mieruko-chan ep 1 had more fanservice than this first episode, and it was by the same studio. |

@EcchiGodMamster a lot of LN readers have been saying how lewd the series is. They were confident that the anime was going to be an ecchi especially after checking the studio. I've checked the manga too and it even had panty shots and torn off clothes right in the first chapter, but this first ep had nothing like that. What was the point of giving this to studio Passione again? Who is the target audience even? |

@EcchiGodMamster funny how this same studio released Mieruko-chan in fall 2021 (that is, only two years ago) and that was so hornier than the manga that I remember so many people were complaining about the fanservice. The manga for that wasn't even an ecchi in the first place, but they still managed to tone it up in the anime whenever they had the opportunity. And now in fall 2023 we get this from them. What a downfall. |

@EcchiGodMamster definitely the director. If you check the director for Mieruko-chan it was Yuki Ogawa, the same guy who directed Interspecies Reviewers, Miru Tights, Tawawa on Monday. I really wanted him to be the director for Excalibur Academy, but instead we got Hiroyuki Morita directing Excalibur Academy, whose only roles as a series director have been Bokura no and The Cat Returns. Definitely not a director I would have chosen for an ecchi anime adaptation, let alone a Passione adaptation at that. Idk what they were thinking, cuz this type of anime doesn't suit the director at all. |

@EcchiGodMamster honestly, I think these companies don't realise who their target audience are. Excalibur Academy is set on a generic battle school harem setting that people watch as a trashy guilty pleasure to kill some time. It's also by the same author as Blade Dance of Elementalers. No matter how much ecchi you take out and how family friendly you make it, the people who aren't into these type of genres aren't gonna watch it regardless. Even the name and the key visuals for the show are as generic as they could get, so that's already a turn off for a lot of people. Fanservice and hot waifus are the only thing it would have going for it and the only reason people would be bothered to even give it a watch, especially in such a stacked season with so many other banger shows coming out. By taking out the fanservice, it's now no longer a good guilty pleasure either. Nobody is gonna give a damn about this anime now. Also about Slave, yeah, not only does the directors not give me any confidence, but even the studio Seven Arcs is pretty mediocre and they don't have a good track record. |

@Nucleus69 This is what happens when a country is full of old ppl who are out of touch While I disagree with "trash" or "guilty pleasures", I know what you mean as far as casual audiences go... casual watchers aren't going to support the show whether or not they tone them down so why cuck the actual fans??? @EcchiGodMamster BD releases have become such a joke too, a lot of times they aren't even worth the money. Goddess Cafe Terrace baited their audience so hard with all their steam and light beams and just kept them all in the BDs. The same studio made Kanojo mo Kanojo S1 which also had steam and light beams in the TV version, but in the BDs those got removed. So I don't see why Cafe Terrace which was supposed to be an ecchi couldn't get a similar treatment from them. The censorship is so jarring and annoying that I'm sure even the normies who dislike fanservice will be bothered with the censorship, and yet they don't bother to do any change at all. Well, at least despite all that the anime still got a S2 regardless (tho I'm sure that's only because it was already planned beforehand), but now I'm sure as hell not looking forward to how they are gonna do a hotspring episode in the future. It's gonna be just as bad as the bathhouse scene from S1. Apparently the show is popular in Japan, but ig nobody there bothers to complain which is why the companies keep getting away with their thing. |

Apparently the show is popular in Japan, but ig nobody there bothers to complain which is why the companies keep getting away with their thing.
@Nucleus69 Yea man, companies nowadays are probably just cowering at the thought of people complaining about fanservice on Twitter cause this didn't happen in the past at least not to the degree it does now Japan's whole culture of allowing yourself to get cucked and not fighting back is exactly why their population is in such rapid decline hence the bigger focus on foreign markets, which inevitably leads to more censorship |

@EcchiGodMamster if they really were so afraid of people complaining about fanservice then how the heck did Mieruko-chan turn out so horny? A lot of normies complained about fanservice in that show too. So how did the production committee allow the anime to turn out like that? It's not like the anime came out a decade ago or something, it aired only two years ago in fall 2021. |

The thighs alone were worth it to watch, but reading here that they toned down the fanservice is disappointing.. |

@Nucleus69 i mean.... its pretty rare now that we get anime even as lewd as Mieruko and how often does that happen compared to fanservice being toned down from the manga??? |
