Welp, it looks tension is running high with the upcoming athletic festival and competitions. It does not surprise me that Suzune had a fierce look with a determination this episode.

Kiyotaka is also on the edge and being observant with the recent events of the semester. I hope he has a plan for himself since everyone seems to have their own goals.

Looks like the Sports Festival arc will be getting covered faster then I originally thought but it is still on pace with the last arc, this episode was more or less a build up again as well as outsourced to another studio.

Wasn't as great as last weeks but it was still good and Ayanokoji definitely isn't going to Sudo for advice next time lmao
And surprise surprise, Kushida is the traitor.

Solid 8/10 from me overall though.

The argument between Horikita and Karuizawa was nice, as instructed by Ayanokouji.

What a scary premonition by Ayanokouji. There's going to be a traitor in Class D huh.

My gut says it's Kushida, but we'll see...

I guess ayanokoji is lot stronger than anyone of them. His strength was exactly at 60 which was told as an average by sudo proves that he is capable of more than that

This episode was somewhat better than the previous episodes.

The traitor is also revealed so I think so far it is not that bad and I hope they adapt the sports festival nicely.

3/5 for this episode.

Ayanokouji slowly laying the groundwork as usual. We'll know the meaning of the things he's doing once the results are revealed so I'll be waiting for that. He's already using Kei like he wants. Also Kushida was the traitor? Why though?

Hey! This episode didn't explain the result of cruise exam of all group or did I miss something.... Please someone explain me in simple word what exactly happen in cruise exam, who got private points? Which class got max point? Now what the point difference between classes after cruise exam? How Ayanokoji came to know khusida is traitor? And what exactly the result of ayanokoji's group from cruise exam?

Good adaptation for this episode. Really a solid one. I give it a 9/10.

They make this episode interesting despite these events are boring in the early of the volume. Characters' interactions are good with a few good intense moments that can keep you hooked to the series.
Kiyo asking Sudou about average grip strength is a big mistake LOL Kiyotaka's grip strength can go up or even more than 100 as his monologue shows.
Animation is also not bad even though it's outsourced like episode 2.

They do some questionable adaptation choices though. Pretty weird I'm not gonna lie.

Overall, good build up episode!

An episode focusing on Horikita, or rather Ayanokoji focusing on her and attempting to remove her stubbornness. Pretty well-handled but it sucks that they removed 4.5 which also means no rocket punch and no elevator scene. I can only hope there's an OVA for that.

I don't like how Horikita's art-style has her face compressed. Makes her look kinda stupid.

we know who got private points if u look at the outcomes of last weeks episode. The point difference wasn’t even in the LN. And Koji knew kushida was the traitor
because of a hidden plot in ep 2 and 3. And the outcome of kojis group was shown last ep

Damn they really are rushing this huh...

So they completely skipped vol 4.5 and went directly into vol. 5, so not even a break between the two special exams, it's honestly gonna be tiring if they are adapting special exam after special exam with no in betweens.

And the discussion in the classroom between Kei and Horikita was a little more confusing then it was in the LN imo.
Ah and of course, Sakayanagi's introduction was completely skipped, most likely because she was already introduced in season 1.

And it seems this episode was outsourced yet again.

Didn’t the plans change from the novel, or was it just my subs? Wasn’t Horikita supposed to be advocating for lesser students to be grouped together, and talented students to be together? In which case, the lesser students would be left with little likelihood of getting top 3 and getting points, which was what made Shinohara bark up to begin with? But in the anime, Horikita was suggesting there be a less talented student for every talented one.

Shit is getting hype. Suzune got mad played by Kiyopon there, not once but twice too (pretty funny how he got played by Sudo tho and his reaction after finding out he did more than what he should have). I also love how he was so cold with Kei during their convo and how he see's everyone below him that even Kei realized and called him out for it. It is really refreshing watching a main character like this. Cant wait for more! I had a feeling Kushida was the traitor, she hates Suzune after all.

I was surprised at first when I thought she was butting heads with Horikita. Didn’t think she would be so assertive, but of course i shoulda known it was all Ayanokoji’s plan. The dude is always scheming. Smart to get have her get Kushida’s opinion. I wonder when he figured out she was the traitor? Well, that’s our boy for ya. He’s always so calculating, even with that grip strength thing. He asked for the average and got within a fraction of that number.

Btw anyone catch Karuizawa glancing at Ayanokoji in the beginning of the ep there? Is the girl catching feelings for our boy? Haha

With the way this test is set up, I’m wondering how Ayanokoji plans to get the class to win. It’s just skill based after all, at least that’s how it seems. I’m a bit of a dummy myself so I’m not sure I get Horikita’s plan vs what Karuizawa suggested. Anyone care to explain? Lol.

Anyways, Horikita really does need to learn to be more flexible. People won’t play ball with the way she’s been acting.

Looks like they’re going to be catching a rat next week. Can’t wait.

Volume 4.5 is a vacation volume where the 1st quarter ended. It would make sense in season 1 to be adapted. Unfortunately.

Yes a sports festival arc that is actually Only Sports...boy and girls this is going to be fun.

Horikita is already making enemies in the home front as to be expected but oh wait it's just an instruction from our boy to Kei just to oppose her. Also I wonder who's the impostor in Class D, I better hope it's not Koenji or Kushida...let's wait and see.

And with that the wheels are set in motion for the Sports Festival Arc, despite the lingering fear and suspicion, atleast Sudo will go tryhard hopefully he's not the one to get duped by opposing forces, hopefully I didn't call that....YO I HOPE NO----

Interesting episode. I would have wished for more explanation of the rules though. Previous test hat better explanations here. As someone that knows only the anime ... I did not unterstand the conflixt between the two groups (Horikita and the person that opposed her before Karuizawa joined the discussion). Why did Horikita want to spllit the good people and combine them with weaker ones - instead of filling everythign with the good ones? Might only make sense if the participation is limited.

I guess for the voluntarily events 1 person can decide to do everything. Or none can participate at all? (While it is at max 1 per class per event.) For tha mandatory ones you have to split the class and only 1 can participate per each event? (But more than 1 of per class can participate?) Then it would maks sense that you would not use 2 good ones in 1 team (getting 1st and 2nd) but instead getting 1st in two events ... splitting those 2 good ones.

Though for the bad ones that cared about their individual result ... it should not matter whether they are combined with a better one ... or are amongst themselves - since they still would compete with the other classes (that might send someone that is better). So why did they complain?

So...wrapping up the VIP Test of Volume 4, skipping the Summer Vacation arc of Volume 4.5 entirely, and directly into the Sports Festival arc of Volume 5. OK...

The 2nd term starts, and immediately, the sports festival is yet another of those tests that depict the class's standings, divided into Team Red and White: Class A & D and Class B & C, all years involved. Of course, if the fine print's not read correctly, you'll potentially lose points, and especially in this sports festival, everyone is working together, though the question of teamwork is always up in the air since the classes have all been very defensive from the island and the cruise tests.

Everyone wants to win, but of course, can be selfish to earn points for themselves and their classes as well. Debating this within the class (as Horikita did) with the only way being studies vs. Karuizawa's way of following the class on everything else, it's not easy to find a consensus for someone her calibre. Horikita's skill vs. Karuizawa's opinion (thanks to Ayanokouji's interference) is literally a deadlock, while everyone else is pumped for the actual sports festival.

Ayanokouji is always only affixing his objective to turn Class D into Class A, and the reveal of a traitor within the class...he's just waiting for the time to strike while letting the events play through, that's the game plan for now. It's already clear that Horikita has amassed her own haters from within the class, and her stuck-up stubborn inflexible attitude is only one that Ayanokouji can control.

Ayanokouji, Horikita...and Kushida, the VIP of the other group, a storm's about to brew up for the opposing Team White's reconnaissance...

They skipped volume 4.5 so it made the transition to the next arc feel a bit janky. The animation was outsourced this week too but still felt decent.

Episode overall was solid, the pacing was good and they did a good job of building up to what should be an amazing episode next week. One of my fave you zitsu moments. I’ve been critical of this adaptation but I’ll give credit when it’s due.

Guess you missed it.

Class A is -200 Class Points
Class B is the same
Class C is +100 Class Points
Class D is +50 Class Points

Class A guessed Ayanokoji's group leader wrong.
As for how he knows Kushida was the traitor, it will be explained.

Finally back to classroom again, new term begins! And with new term we have new tests, this time it's Sports festival, another golden opportunity for classes to earn points for themselves and their classes.

It's kinda fucked up that Class A and Class D have to work together, it's gonna be really difficult.

Isn't Horikita being too cold and mean in this episode? What are they doing, trying to get us to dislike her? Although I really wouldn't mind seeing a cutesy version of Horikita, kinda like the fake Kushida mode.

If Ayanokoji doesn't explain why he does what he does, nobody's gonna fucking understand it, I hope they explain the reason for why Ayanokoji asked Karuizawa to disapprove of Horikita's suggestion.

This traitor thing has intruiged me, what's intruiged me more is how Ayanokoji seems to know all this.

The way they are portraying Ayanokoji now, I can't wait to see how he is when he goes all out. The Season where they show us him going all out is gonna be the peak of the peak.

LOL Ayanokoji humbled Horikiata real good during that three-legged race.

Pretty good episode. 5/5.

Even though it was mostly setup this was the best episode this season by far! I guess the first arc might've been better as a LN.
I knew it. Kushida was a traitor. It was suspicious that ryuuen decided to stress her name specifically in the previous episode. Chadkoji won't let it pass.

Though its really unfortunate that the animation has taken a hit compared to S1 but it still works. I've seen worse.

The grip strength part is hilarious in the LN and the anime adapt it decently. The class D starts their training in the upcoming sports fest. To prepare because its the main test that can give them more class points. Overall good build up episode

Does anyone know/(have a theory) about what the stare between Ayanokouji and the Teacher Chabashira meant or what it was hinting towards? Feels like she tried to see if Ayanokouji found *the Loophole* in the competition, but I cant figure out what that would be. Also Ayanokouji said to Horikita that she shouldnt look for loopholes, so that leads me to think Im looking at it the wrong way.

Ofcourse without introducing information which the anime still has to cover.
