Seemed like they were rushing too much to get to Sylvester's introduction rather than just doing that at the beginning of next episode. There's four major events they still need to cover for the rest of the season and two of those will most likely take two episodes. If we assume that's one each for the other two, that puts us at 9 episodes out of this ten episode season. They really should've given us 12-13 instead and not glossed over so much.
Xayahnatix1 said:Ah yes, they tried to fit 6 chapters and a side story in this episode. Tons of Worldbuilding & Myne's Winter Life (3 months) in the Temple was cut off this episode. I'm still wondering why they made it 10 episodes.
RIP
Damuel X Parue Cakes, Rosina's Gift (basically Myne made a music sheet from an anime song from our world with the help of Ferdinand as a gift to Rosina who had come of age), and Pooey turned into oink.
It's kinda disappointing just how much they cut out here. They also changed Myne's meeting with Ferdinand about Wolf which started out a lot more hilariously since she didn't even remember who Wolf was.

Er, where did you get the idea that Damuel was Shikikoza's servant?
Swagernator said:Dude, the knight would freeze to death riding in the wind during winter at that speed that high, come on. Anyway, something i wanted to mention long ago about this show, i know that the nobility culture back in the day was all kinds of things, but this anime always takes it to these absolute another pompadour levels.
I like how Myne faded, and the knight was like "It's my first day for fuck sake", the first day sucked really hard xD. Also they really are hammering on the fact that Myne is a mini nuke, dont they.
The temperature is actually addressed in the novel, though I don't recall if it's in part 2 or part 3 that they actually do so. The armor that knights wear is a form of magical armor that protects against more than just damage. There's actually an instance (a couple actually) where they have to fly through a blizzard on their highbeasts in part 3 and they're perfectly fine.
Also Myne fainting was definitely not on Damuel's first day. It was communicated quite poorly but this episode actually covered multiple months. The Dedication Ceremony is in the middle of winter and Spring Prayer is a little after the beginning of spring. The meeting with Johann occurred much closer to the latter than the former while Damuel became her bodyguard not too long after winter started. They really need to stop cutting shit out because it gives a poor impression of the flow of things. Just dedicate the necessary number of episodes to telling the story, ffs.
Hesmiyu said:If people are saying that so much was skipped, I wonder why this series didn't get more episodes this time round to prevent that happening.
This was actually an issue in the previous two seasons as well, it just wasn't as egregious as this episode in particular was. Season 2 in particular basically completely glossed over the future Gutenbergs as well as the Italian restaurant that Benno mentioned in this episode. These were stupid things to gloss over because they're both actually fairly important to the story in the future. Glossing over Rosina's coming of age ceremony in this episode was a pretty dumb move because Myne's bond with those who serve her is a very important part of the story, both now and in the future. Same with glossing over things with Damuel. They kind of addressed that Damuel realizes that she's no ordinary girl but they didn't really communicate just how exceptional he realizes her to be, nor that he ends up becoming quite fond of her. Two specific incidents I can think of were skipped over here. The parue cakes, which is something that I believe was mostly skipped over in season 1 as well and not even mentioned in season 2 from what I recall. And then Myne using a newer bible to study an old one in an archaic enough dialect that even Damuel, who's more like a scholar (noble society is broken down into four groups: attendants, scholars, knights, and then the leadership class which is archduke candidates, archdukes, archducal family members, and the royal family) in most regards than a knight couldn't read. This latter one actually skipped over one of the reasons Ferdinand thinks so highly of her too. During lunch with Damuel (I'm pretty sure it was the same lunch shown in this episode), he handed Ferdinand a list of questions about the archaic bible Myne had asked him to give to Ferdinand and they had a discussion about it which made it pretty clear that Ferdinand actually thinks quite highly of Myne's intelligence.
Kayle_x_Morgana said:wtf was the priest talking about when he said to cast "rot"?
It's actually "Rott" unlike what the subtitles stated. It was also shown during the trombe mission last season. It was the red light that Ferdinand sent up with his schtappe when Myne got entangled in the trombe due to Shikikoza being a moron.
Rick-Ryon said:I have only one question: that blue haired blue robe guy that appeared in the end, did he appeared before? myne said she saw him before, but i don't remember him
She said she didn't recognize him. This is the first time he's appeared so far and he'll be in the next 2-3 episodes as well as the last 1-2, assuming this season covers up to where people are predicting it will. We've only actually seen two of the other blue priests so far. One of them is older and has hair that's a similar color to Ferdinand's. This one is, to my knowledge, never named anywhere. Then there's the other one who trashed the temple book room near the end of last season. That one does get named (although it won't be until the next season) but is a pretty minor character all things considered. There's also two other blue priests that get named in the future as well but that's quite far off.
