I really liked the first season and the second season is actually very different. The targets, environment or other things are so different it felt like this is a different anime with same characters. Also as a shounen it gives us what we want. Why y'all hate this season so much, I don't understand I really liked this season too. (this is NOT April Fool I'm so serious)

they cut around 80 chapters (i think) and the best arc in the series (imo and what ive seen in other forums) which also contains a lot of characters. the powerpoint ending was also a cherry on top for how disappointing szn 2 was

Yes, they cut out a whole arc and skipped a lot of content. Animation can’t excuse poor execution and story telling

The animation just wasn’t nearly on par with the first season, the pacing was trash, Ray couldn’t think for himself in this season he always followed everything Emma said, and they rushed the ending like a LOT. Also if I remember correctly, they changed the ending in the anime so it doesn’t end the same as in the manga.

I didn't read the manga, you could be right they could skip an important chapter but this is still very good. It could be 10/10 if you're right.

Just read the manga and you will understand the best and awesome part of the show was entirely skipped.

Is like if they did Bleach and skipped Soul Society and Hueco Mundo Arcs to the end. Like Dragon Ball but they skip Cell, Frieza and Majin Buu.

A true disaster since the story and first season were so good.

The anime had so potential but they literally ruined it, I can say it without reading the anime. First 5 episode were amazing but the ending was totally shit. even when I watched the 1st season of this anime, this anime became one of my favourite anime but the studio ruined it with the ending of season 2.

Some spoilers here of manga. So be careful

As someone who has not read the manga. This season was bad. While in the bunker, they did nothing then left. While there was a room that looked important that never got explained. Norman was unbearable to watch during the whole time. The ending was horrible and the bad guy was poorly portrayed ( I do not know if he is good in the manga). And the ending was horrible. She stays then a PowerPoint presentation happens that gives nothing to the watchers and only the manga readers ( how the hell does Emma meeting God end up in a slideshow?) and then she comes back like nothing happens.

Op song is a banger though.

They cut out a good arc and the manga falls off when Norman returns which means they only adapted the bad parts and did a bad job of that too. It wasn't unbearably bad tho. Defo overhated

it was like you removed the chimera ant arc from hxh or the promised day from fma, means the most important and best arc was skipped from story

ok I understand they skipped the best arc but it still don't deserve average 5 score I mean ok if they could adapted the full manga to anime it could be 9-10/10 but now it's not that bad I think it deserves minimum 7

my man the animation wasn’t even the problem

main problem is they went anime original just cause they didn’t wanna give the series the 4 seasons it would have deserved

honestly fuck aniplex for that

It skipped major and arguably best arcs to skip to the end. It skipped arcs that could have had their own seasons. And by doing so they'll never introduce major characters, themes and plot points.

Instead of making season 2 they made season 3.

It's hated because it was incredibly rushed. I didn't even read the manga, and even I could tell. The pacing was awful,
and the ending felt like a slap in the face. There's more that I could say, but I don't want to write an entire paragraph that most people wouldn't even want to read.

It's not overhated, it's getting this much hate for valid reasons. This Season was a huge downgrade compared to the first.

They skipped the best arc and a lot of important characters and the ending is rushed as hell p.s. the powperpoint presentation in the end triggered a lot of people.

They skipped multiple arc in anime and covered the final arc in 30 sec slide show of episode 12. Calling it anime original just cuz they decided to skip multiple arc.

As an anime only:

1-3 eps are really good. Very suspenseful and great animation.

The main problem lies with the time skip. Many anime do timeskips and some do it well and some don’t, this one does not. I was excited to see how they would all survive in that base but then it fast forwards in the wrong spot imo. It totally disconnected me with most of the characters since all of them were children to now a little older.

The other part was Norman’s plan. He and his new team shared hatred for the demons and devised multiple plans for multiple years. And then for all of those of planning and hatred Emma is like, “that’s wrong” and then he stops and is on the side of protecting the demons.

The episode with Norman escaping is good and the music was great.

The ending was just terrible. The mothers all of the sudden wanted to help the MC’s. Like I get Isabelle’s dilemma, but all of the other mothers agreed, with the kind of ideologies all of the mothers were groomed with??

And of course the MC’s stay behind to try and fix the demon world, but too bad we didn’t actually see those interested parts save for a few pictures. And then another time skip where I was 100% disconnected with the characters. For S1 it had great pacing and took it’s time. But then we got weird pacing like 3 episodes trying to find their base, 2 time skips, the longevity of Norman and his team’s ideology only for him to fall flat last second.

Good visuals/music. But everything else was pretty much garbage.
The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

- After 2 episodes it was painful to watch
- Pacing is atrocious
- It was concluded with PowerPoint slideshows.

I agree, it was really good!! But the creators and animators made it way different than the manga so that's why people are pissed off about it and yea it should have been more like the manga but it's still pretty good

I watched season 2 without reading the manga, and I thought it was decent. Definitely not as good as season 1, but still decent. There was definitely the feeling that we were rushing through plot points and arcs however... Things that were just too convenient happening, or sudden time-skips, etc.

I think the emotional beats were executed quite well in season 2, that scene in the monster city with Emma, Norman, the little monster girl and her grandpa gets me teary every time. The only amazing scene in season 2 I would say. Everything else is rushed or underdeveloped, like Norman's gang that escaped with him.

Meanwhile in the manga, a lot more is developed and established so that the payoff in the end feels earned. Things don't just happen conveniently so that we can do what we need to do, previous arcs have lasting effects and causes that impact the world in a way that's tangible and logical. The reason so many manga readers were upset is because all of this setup was scrapped and replaced with a sloppy and underdeveloped story that didn't properly set up the payoff that we got in the end.

Basically, in a vaccuum, season 2 is decent, but once you read the manga you understand just how much potential was squandered for apparently no reason in season 2. I say that there is no harm in giving the manga a read to see how the story compares to season 2.

It's annoying emma's want to create be world like a happiness world. in such condition i think just should live a life form. when norman say demons must die, emma just must accepted that but she want to live with demons. JUST GOD YOU ARE NOT LIVING IN HAPPINESS WORLD. It's annoying they accept to emma's wanted every fucking wish.

In a nutshell, it's hated because the manga was so good and people are understandably angry that they will now never get to see so many wonderful characters and story arcs animated. But I agree with you that it isn't bad at all on it's own, minus the slideshow ending. I feel ya, it's really disheartening to see so. much. hate. on a show you enjoyed. Unfortunately for this season, it is far, far from being the worst thing ever, or even the worst thing of last year (seriously wth mother's basement please chill) but if someone told me it was the most disappointing thing they've seen, I wouldn't argue. It's hated more for what it might have been than for what it is.

even with no knowledge of how they butchered the adaptation of the manga at the time, s2 doesn't hold a candle to s1.

it went from playing 4d chess 24/7 for survival to getting lucky at every turn, characters doing Nonsensical things they never would have before, to random time skips that add nothing but confusion.

The slideshow of an ending was particularly enraging.

I’ve started reading the manga and I now understand why it is hated as much as it is. I cannot lie, I enjoyed season 2 up until the ending, and I just can’t get over the slideshow ending. It looks like there was so much left to explore, and instead they give us that. In the Manga I am up to where they reach Minerva’s hideout, and there is already some things that they cut out showing up, and I’m sure it just gets worse from here. If you enjoyed the season, I’m glad for you, but I can’t overlooking how they deliberately rushed the story just to not have to make another season or 2. If you are curious though, I’d suggest reading the Manga; it’s very enjoyable!

Is it though? The pacing couldn’t be any more rushed, and there were several plot holes. And that’s without the disappointment that would come from knowing how it went in the manga.
