I thought the Ren's scenes are absolutely comedy gold this episode, especially combined with that her personality. The "yandere" moments were meme worthy. Props to the VA for playing her role.

Komi also had some eerie moments but she got the message cross. Funny reactions from her as usual.

Yamai loves Komi-san so much, she even licks a strand of Komi-san's hair. She kidnapped Tadano, she is a yandere after all.

I'm very happy to see Komi-san worried about Tadano. I really like that scene.

Physical examination day...and Komi...is still the same Komi who cannot utter a single word. Everyone's just waiting for the Madonna to say a word which beckons her beauty...EXCEPT for a rival of her's: Yadano Makeru, the girl who hates losing to her in all aspects. Be it as it may, her hidden feud with Komi is just the start.

Love the "I'm Ren!" Ren Yamai's character arc:
Ren still has the hots for Komi...while Komi is in constant Comyushou status. First it's the dog-following Agari, and the childhood friend Najimi is normal, but confronting her is not just a challenge. The speechless Komi is distraught against the two-faced Ren, and without Tadano around she tries her best to hold back her stress levels.

As it turns out, Tadano getting kidnapped by Ren (at the very beginning) at her home with all the Komi pictures of lovey-dovey yandere obsession, YELP SOMEONE CALL FOR HELP! Luckily there's Najimi and Komi to visit her house (Najimi has extreme foresight), but to save him out of this predicament would take Komi's reply to deride her response: to make friends herself, instead of letting others like Ren choose for her. So polite to write on paper to bring her point across. Walk out girl, because you're concerned for Tadano's safety (while leaving Najimi behind). All grievances settled in apologies, and Ren STILL SUCKS at communication (when it comes to Tadano).

The yandere Ren Yamai is officially Komi's 4th friend, and that's nice after all the swearing and threatening. Otherwise, a big W for Tadano and Komi's friendship communication step forward.

The first part with Yadano was quite fun, she really wants to surpass Komi on the physical tests but really can't do it... except for weighing more than her xD now we got to see Yamai in action and she's sure ABSOLUTELY crazy, she has a crush on Komi and she's so much yandere that she kidnapped Tadano in her closet... damn xD but in the end she became friends with Komi even though her apologies to Tadano were the worst ones ever and it even cut the beautiful scene with Komi being worried about her influence on Tadano, but of course both of them want to stay friends, he even took the sentence Komi used when she first "rejected" Yamai, that was fun xD, anyway that was a really hilarious episode, I loved it like all the previous ones!!!

The episode started with Yadano Makeru, which doesn't want to lose against Komi (you know that based on her name's pun). To prove it, she indirectly facing against Komi on physical examination which ended with draw.

And, FINALLY FOLKS, YAMAI REN IS HERE, THE ONE AND ONLY. Her is character explained enough that fanatic fans + yandere is the worst combination you could possibly found on real life, which she even didn't consider the consequences of kidnapping Tadano. Yes, making Komi disappointed in her.

After what happened to Tadano yesterday, Komi really scared that she thinks that Tadano shouldn't become her friend. But still, Komi can't do that because of how important Tadano is for her.

If you ask me if I hate her, I would say ABSOLUTELY. But, that doesn't mean that this is the worst episode. Instead, this is one of the best episode because of how good they explore the depth of Yamai's character as combination of fanatic fans + yandere.

(FYI, they skipped 2 chapter on this episode which from manga reader's perspective, I really hope that chapter (manga reader know which one) would adapted on future episode. I understand the action they take because it wouldn't fit the conclusion of Yamai's introduction story and yes, it's worth it, especially because we could hear Komi speaking again. And gladly, they change what weapon Yamai used since it wouldn't make sense for her bringing "that" to school.)

FINAL MESSAGE = PLS DON'T HATE OR EVEN SENDING DEATH THREAT TO YAMAI'S SEIYUU JUST BECAUSE SHE'S VOICING YAMAI.

This was a pretty flat episode for me, didn't really enjoy Makeru or Rem at all, from the physical examination and all yandere relevant segments respectively. The production and voice acting was really nice overall and stood out better than the previous couple of episodes, but it wasn't funny nor did it really provide much meaningful moments other than Komi wanting to choose her friends herself, and then her little Tadano confrontation too when he replied to her with the same message despite being kidnapped by Rem and put in danger due to her yandere love for Komi. I liked their moments but it wasn't too long, and most of the episode just wasn't that entertaining or engaging to me personally. Good to see Komi make more friends though slowly, even if they're quite the eccentric bunch.

2 chapters were skipped (Ch 21 and 22), one I wish was adapted being Chapter 22 but who knows, that could be inserted in at a later time maybe? I would have preferred seeing that over everything pretty much in this episode as a little segment.

Going as far as abducting Tadano, Yamai Ren truly is one crazy yandere.
"Sea or Mountains", were two choices given to him but he was lucky to have Najimi opening the closest at right time and as expected Komi too wasn't at all glad after this much. But atleast things got cleared up and now Komi has another friend.

Yamai's reactions are always fun, now waiting for Komi's mom to make an appearance.

Today we meet Makeru, which i like the spirit.

Yamai reactions surpassed Tadano's reactions.

Is sad that Yamai was disarmed and just got a hashi than the nice knife.(Damn censorship.)

Objectively speaking, the weird part of this anime is the suddenly change of time of day, then going back to the right time.

Watch this following the manga is tough, but if is for Komi-san is worth it.

At least later in the manga she's more fun (sometimes... you know what? Forget it...).
I just can't stand those kind of characters. At least that little moment between Tadano-kun and Komi-san was adapted beautifully. It'll take a while for us to know the best characters in this BIG cast.

Nice episode overall. To my surprise, Yamai's character is so over-the-top I actually find her more ridiculous than annoying and the job her VA did sure was quite impressive.

Komi x Tadano moments still remain the best in this series tho.

Dang that girl is so annoying. I don't understand how she can be forgiven so easily when she literally kidnapped Tadano and threatened to kill him. Probably my least favorite episode so far, I hope the rest of the season is better.

edit: before anyone asks, yes I know what a yandere is. i just don't like them as characters.

Not my favorite episode, but solid enough. I laughed out loud at least a few times so I can’t complain too much there. I feel the yandere character is very hit or miss, so I hope she can be more effective in short spurts now that her friendship arc is completed.

Another amazing episode, although I just watched the fan subs from this twitter page(damnit I'm blanking on the name) but for episode 1 and 2 were SOO good that I almost wanted to wait but I was too impatient to see more and I love this series so much already that I have NO problem watching each episode 2-3x in a few weeks time, which is REALLY amazing for a comedy anime. Yeah I'll rewatch a series but usually not for a few months or even longer, but this show is so good I've watched the first three episodes 3x already! 10/10 and definitely my favorite new show even though I do like a few others very much. So Ren was very funny for comedic purposes and the VA nailed it but I ABSOLUTELY hate her so much for the way she treats Tadano and Agari lol. She is like the worst kind of person to go to school with for sure and I definitely knew some that were not quite to her level but similar. Also the girl in the beginning who wanted to "beat" Komi at those "tests" was hilarious. I love how over the top this is, and with how I've seen a few people say it reminds them of Jojo it makes me really want to give those a try

Oh lord, Yamai is so goddamn annoying, I did not laugh at any of her scenes. The green-haired girl is weird enough, but this yandere is somehow even worse. The MC got kidnapped, and somehow he forgives her so easily like as if she didn't also threaten to kill him the day before. Even as a joke, that's messed up. The episode was slightly more tolerable than reading the chapter in the manga since her VA did a pretty damn good job, but I really hope she doesn't make many more appearances in the future. I liked the previous three episodes, but this one is a no-go for me.

Seriously though, that stairway scene pissed me off, I was like thinking the whole time SPEAK MF'er SPEAK Tadano-kun. He was silent for waaay too long, granted we got to hear Komi speak behind a notebook adorably because of it but still. Also I kind of wish they turned her down to be a friend, she's good for comedy but she's a straight evil shitbag who treats Komi's number one friend like dirt and you definitely don't want someone like that in your circle of friends. How is she going to react in the coming seasons(if we're lucky enough 🙏🤞) and around chapter 300? That's going to be a problem you don't want to have around lol. I seriously could watch 300 episodes of Komi and not even be bored for a minute.

Yamai made me want to drink bleach, I have heard she appears less in the story later on and god bless the mangaka for that, what in the mighty frick was her, she is just way too much, cringe and just the worst girl of the year easily.

Other than that, I liked the scene where komi was able to speak, was really happy about that.

Yamai needs to go, and she doesn't deserve to be in Komi-san's 100 friends that's for sure.

EDIT: This doesn't take from the fact that I love this anime, I just don't like Yamai. simple as that

Lol The Highlights of this episode :-
1) Yadano (supposed to be Komi's Rival) and yes she's really competitive...I'm looking forward to see more of their rivalry :)
2) And umm Yamai yikes she gives a positive and creepy vibe at the same time but anyways lol she kidnaped Tadano and what's up with that room xD
3) Komi-san was so cute and this time she spoke to Tadano face to face :D

With that Yamai is now her 3rd friend so 97 more to go...

Anyways Good episode!!!!!!!

Ah yes the physical examination scene. Funny how everyone alludes Komi-san as the Madonna of the school xD. Yadano is a winner girl and underestimates a quiet goddess named Komi-san and being over confident may lead to a disadvantage of winning yk :P

Also Yamai screentimeee. The VA did really good to portray her personality, but I honestly hate her in this episode because she literally kidnapped poor Tadano-kun for Komi-san's sake like Tadano was helping her and never even lay a finger on her but too bad Yamai tied Tadano in a damn chair and Yamai sits on his chair in the classroom. Yeah Yamai isn't someone to be friend with if someone is being over obsessive towards your appearance and wanting to do something strange, what would you do? run for your life or reject em? That's somewhat a question I've been asking to myself since I've watched that scene as someone who's new to a school and selecting a friend or a certain group is rather a better choice and make sure that you trust them with what they do and stuff and that's also what has been stated when Komi san is cutely writing in her notebook that her choice of friend is the one who she decides and hope in later episode, she'll earn more new trust from new friends she has made.

Also the action that Yamai has done to Tadano is more or less of what a typical yandere would do like you know you have a crush on someone and there's someone else who's hanging with your crush which bothers you and then the yandere like Yamai kidnapped poor Tadano by tying him with a large wide tape while he's sitting on the chair and there were backgrounds of Komi-san's picture everywhere in Yamai's wall like she's some fricking stalker pls. Then as Najimi, who I really praise her for asking Yamai to allow Najimi go to her house alongside with Komi-san joining. As both of them went to the house, Yamai started cleaning everything and hid Tadano inside the closet. Then Tadano, who I appreciate what he did here because he was able to make noises in the closet and Najimi and Komi san's face was looking so scared. So then when Yamai goes out and told both Najimi and Komi-san to not open the closet, well yk Najimi did it anyways +1000 praise for that Najimi gg your life is over Yamai.

Okay then back to school, Komi-san and Tadano sat inside the classroom and Komi-san asks in the stair to Tadano where they could still be friends after what Yamai did to him. Komi-san apologies for what situation that Tadano has to go through. Also when Komi-san is trying her best to gradually speak is the most adorable thing on earth. Also Yamai's apology is very hideous but both she and Komi-san are back to being friends but still act as bold cold to Tadano... Oh welp let's see how she goes in later episodes..

Animation wise always stay to their epic style that I really am intrigued by. OP and ED will always be a good to listen when going on a walk uwu.

Good fucking lord Yamai really took it too far by kidnapping poor Tadano like that. Thank god Najimi opened the door lol. Yamai's yandere persona is genuinely scary. But Komi handles it real well by telling Yamai that she can't decide who should be friends with Komi.

ALL of the interactions between Tadano and Komi are SO wholesome and sweet. Seeing Komi tell Tadano that she wants to be friends with him made my heart melt.

Even tho Komi-san only said 1 line in this episode, it still melted my heart! Thank you Koga Aoi for this S Tier acting!

Also, props to Yamai's VA Hidaka Rina, she made Yamai's cute girl/yandere girl gap pretty funny! I didnt expect to enjoy Yamai's character this much!

Here's the Komi-san episode where It will make or break for anime viewers only. God I am reminded about how much I HATE Yamai But her VA did a great job and the episode overall was funny as hell.

"I'll decide my friends for myself" That's our Girl...and Chadano as well XD

AND they fucking nailed The Tadano and Komi confession scene...well to remain to be friends.

Yadano looks to me that she has an inferiority complex compared to Komi, so it was pretty amusing for her to "challenge" Komi during the physical examination test to see who would win overall. It was a tie, at least in Yadano's mind, but I like her already, so I hope we'll see her again soon. =)

The main talking point of the episode, however, was the proper introduction to Yamai Ren, a yandere psycho who went as far as to kidnap Tadano to stop him from hanging out with Komi. The way she shifted from cute to crazy and back again was amusing.

For me, the best part of the episode was when Komi took Tadano to the stairs and had their talk after the events at Ren's house and whether Komi wanted to keep their friendship continuing. It went from worrisome to wholesome and sweet and it's hard not to smile at their interactions between each other. ^_^

Either way, Komi is now friends with Ren, even though she doesn't seem to be actually sorry for kidnapping and gagging Tadano, though. XD

Yikes was not expecting the side characters to be this over the top, her seiyuu (Milim and filo's wow) was great "F*CK!" LOL
Her rival was pretty funny too, like Konosuba's Yunyun unrequited rivals are always fun.
Koni-san continues to be adorable and the animation great. Ren's swaying was great.

As we get closer to the halloween day (well it's 3 days to go), you can guessed it on what we have just saw throught the entire episode lately. Like first section only like 4mins of the episode but it's funny, the second section is full of suprises and shocking moment.

The first section introduces Yadano Makeru (やだのまける), translated into "I'm afraid" by google translate. And yeah, her personality basically means she's afraid of losing to someone better than her. In this case, losing in physical exam on Komi-san. Well both got a tie 2-2, and we should expect Yadano-san to have more screentime later episode (only like 2 mins of screentime)

Now, here's the plot begins...

We see Tadano-kun and for some reason, he got kidnapped by someone who considers him a threat for being near to Komi-san. And then we have Yamai Ren, she has a very cringy personality. Having a huge obsession for Komi-san and will seek out to kill anyone trying to get closer to Komi-san. Well, I feel bad for Osana Najimi-san, as they have more trouble when it comes to Yamai-san. And meanwhile, me got to get through Yamai-san creeped out moment.

With Tadano-kun freed, we got into this where if it will be best that Komi-san and Tadano-kun weren't friends. Yeah, considering of how many around her wants Tadano-kun to be away from Komi-san, but it's their own choice of who they should be friends with, that's all

Ah yeah, now that the creeped out moment is over, we finally got into Yamai-san apologising and decide to be in Komi-san friend group. Congrats Komi-san for your 4th friend (But she still have her yandere persona, but oh well, The End)

And thus, episode 4 is quite something for us, I'm not really into Yamai-san personality, it's really cringing me out, so see you in next week for episode 5.

Also, nice 24 TV series reference there. Even the sound effect is similar

やまいれん (Yamai Ren), is written with the characters for mountain and well but can also be written as 病 to mean illness. While れん (Ren) is an alternate reading of 恋 (koi) ,which means love.

With Illness and love combined, it depicts of her huge obsession for Komi-san while carrying hostility toward someone who are close to Komi-san (Also known as Yandere)

this show is plunging fast. An entire episode about unfunny stalkers with a character literally named "twisted love" I'm not saying the whole yandere gag can't be funny, but this ain't the way. You can go ridiculously petty and minor, creating a humorous contrast between intensity and actions. Satire is not just being indistinguishable from Higurashi or Happy Sugar Life or whatever, but also having a silly pun name. Half those things have silly pun names to begin with.

It did eventually lead to a somewhat nice scene at the end of the episode of Komi apologizing for it, which continues to be the show's strength that I wish it leaned more into. Not just the saccharine music, but the way it used silence as he tried to talk to him. That was a genuinely well-constructed scene! Contrast is important. Silence is important. It gives the moment impact. I just wish it hadn't been preceeded by 15 minutes of screaming unpleasantness. Or followed by yet more screaming unpleasantness. Was it worth the cost of suffering through the rest of the episode? Probably not, because I was ready to throw in the towel after ten minutes of suffering.

Great episode! Yamai’s faces when people interrupt her chances to talk to Komi san were quite dangerous xD. She even licked her hair. She also seems to think that Komi is loving with her gaze…
